Jaeyoon and Hwiyoung stared suspiciously at the newcomer. What kind of cattle driver wore that big of a hat? The brim was massive. Surely it would blow off his head while they rode. Only his eyes peeked through the bandana that covered his face, he wore gloves. The fuck? But Youngbin had vouched for him, so they guessed they'd just have to work together on this job.
"Have some food," Hwiyoung offered, "Jaeyoon makes the best chow this side of the Mississippi."
"It's okay," the stranger mumbled behind the bandana, "I brought my own."
"Nonsense, you want this job? You gotta respect everyone on this team," Hwiyoung huffed. "Eat Jaeyoon's food."
"It's okay," Jaeyoon interjected, "I'm not offended."
"But how can we trust someone to have our backs along the trail if he isn't willing to trust us enough to eat with us? There's no way we can spend three weeks together like that!"
"I'm sure he has his reasons."
"No," the stranger spoke up, "he's right. I have to prove myself to my partners." He helped himself to a bowl and took a bite.
Jaeyoon smiled proudly. "Hope you like it! This is the last we'll get to have fresh garlic before we get to California."
The stranger started gagging.
