As consciousness rose to the surface, Cas could feel the warmth of Dean's skin seeping into his cheek and he squeezed his eyes shut tighter. Slowly, he became aware of how his body was intertwined with Dean’s; their legs tangled together under the covers, and Dean's arms tucked low across his back in a comforting embrace. His own arm rested across Dean's chest with his hand settled over Dean's heart. Even his head was pillowed against the hunter's shoulder, and his nose nuzzled against Dean's throat.
Warm.
Content.
Safe.
God, Cas loved this feeling. The slow crawl into wakefulness that let him feel everywhere his body melded together with Dean's. How they fit together, every part of themselves slotting into the gaps the other left. Cas could spend an eternity in this soft haziness.
Softly, he brushed his nose under Dean's jaw and sighed quietly. With his eyes still closed, he pressed a quick kiss to the stubble trailing down Dean's throat; feeling the prickles across his lower lip in a teasing brush.
Dean hummed tiredly at the touch, dipping his head to bring their foreheads together. Cas lingered against the touch for a moment before moving his lips up along Dean's jaw and cheek in a blind search for the hunter's lips.
Often it was Dean seeking Cas' mouth out in the early morning light, but Cas couldn't wait another minute for Dean to kiss him. Couldn't wait for either of them to slowly open their eyes before initiating a kiss. He wanted his lips on Dean's. Now.
Dean let out a soft gasp as Cas' lips danced across his skin, and when their mouths finally met in a fumbling kiss, they both stuttered out breaths of shock.
God it felt good.
Dean ever-so-slightly tilted his head and Cas squeezed his eyes shut tighter as their mouths finally aligned.
Bliss.
Cas sighed in pleasure, chasing Dean's mouth and allowing their lips to glide together. It was soft and gentle; just lips pressed together until they were melting into each other. Simple yet blissful.
Dean slowly parted his lips, but instead of slipping Dean some tongue, Cas just dotted little open-mouthed kisses to Dean's mouth. Dean's arm attempted to tug Cas closer, but Cas gently resisted. A quiet groan filled the room at the teasing touches, and Cas beamed. He did that. Dean wanted more and Cas was the reason for it.
As much as Cas would've happily given in to deeper kisses, something inside of him yearned to keep it slow and tender. He just wanted this. The soft press of Dean's plush lips against his; eyes still closed, chasing the taste of love.
Slowly, Cas trailed fingertips up Dean's bare arms before settling on his jaw with a soft stroke. He just wanted- needed…
Dean broke the kissing with a little sigh and Cas chased after his mouth.
"Don't stop," Cas whispered, the first words of the morning spoken on a quiet exhale filled with longing.
He tried to reconnect their lips again, aching to feel the connection that only their soft morning kisses could create, but he couldn't find Dean's mouth. Instead, Dean's hands moved from his waist up to his neck; fingers sliding into messy hair.
"Look at me, Cas," Dean murmured, rubbing his nose against the angel's in a ghost of a touch before pulling away.
Finally, Cas forced his heavy eyelids to open, squinting in the muted morning light seeping in around the blinds, and, after a couple blinks, his gaze locked with Dean's.
"Beautiful," Dean said in a hushed tone, trailing fingertips down Cas' cheek before his thumb danced across Cas' lower lip. "Love you."
Cas felt his heart lurch in his chest and everything ached from his heart all the way down to his bones. Dean said those words frequently throughout the day, but something about the way the hunter murmured the declaration so affectionately in a sleep-thick voice always made Cas fall just a little bit more in love.
"Dean," Cas gasped. "Please. Kiss me," he said, a breathy demand to soothe the way his heart was cracking open in sheer adoration.
In a quick shuffle, Dean's hand settled back on his waist again as he tugged Cas down until they were lying side by side, with Cas' knee tucked between Dean's legs.
This time it was Dean closing the gap to kiss him, and Cas felt his entire being shudder and burst into pleasure as Dean softly brushed their lips together. The kisses remained soft, mouths meeting and parting on little puffs of air as their eyes fluttered closed again.
One second Cas was chasing the shadow of Dean's lips and then Dean was indulging him on the next kiss by lingering with deeper brushes. Cas couldn't get enough of the way Dean kissed him.
Their morning kisses were always Cas' favorite because of the slow tenderness, but something about this morning was special. The kisses were longer and slower, softer with hints of deepness, and so so good. Cas wasn't sure how long they spent quietly making out; kisses merging and morphing over and over again until Cas' lips absolutely tingled with the taste of Dean.
Finally, Cas pulled away, burying his face into Dean's chest as he mumbled, "Coffee?"
Dean chuckled, trailing his hand up and down Cas' spine. "Five more minutes."
"Of kissing?" Cas asked, peeking up at Dean and pressing his lips to Dean's collarbone.
"Kissing. Cuddling. Just being here with you," Dean replied, tracing patterns across Cas' hipbone where his shirt had ridden up.
Cas smiled, leaning up and softly ghosting his lips to the corner of Dean's mouth. "I love you," he whispered.
Dean returned the love confession by tugging Cas against him until they were completely entangled; kissing his love across every inch of Cas' skin he could glide his lips over.
