“Denki,” Shinsou whispered quietly. “Stay, please.”

“I, I think it would be better if I headed back,” Denki mumbled as he struggled to put on his shoes.

“Kaminari, please?”

Work Text:

“Class dismissed,” Ectoplasm announced as he wiped away the math board. “I’ll see you all Monday.”

The class immediately started packing up and rushing out the door. A few kids, like Kirishima and Tokoyami, stayed behind.

“So,” Kirishima approached Denki after he had put away his own belongings. “Can you hang out this weekend?”

“I can’t,” Denki shook his head. “I’m having a sleepover at Shinsou’s house. It’s his birthday tomorrow.”

That’s right. How could Kirishima forget that Shinsou’s birthday was going to be on the upcoming Saturday? Denki's has been talking about it for weeks now. About what he wants to do, and what he wants to get him. And how the two of them are going to celebrate it.

“Oh, that’s right!” Kiri said excitedly. “Tell him happy birthday from me, okay?”

“Yeah, I will,” Denki said with a smile before exiting the classroom, leaving Kirishima and Tokoyami the last ones in the room.

Denki took his time going back to the dorms. He was excited and it showed. He accidentally set off a few sparks from his arms, and he almost shocked some poor student. He shook his head and lightly slapped his face with his palms to bring himself back to normal.

When Denki had reached his dorm, he sighed, throwing his bag back onto the floor before collapsing onto the bed. He was tired, but he knew he needed to get ready before Shinsou got to his dorm.

Denki had played some music quietly in the background as he was packing the gift he had gotten for Hitoshi. He got him a hoodie with a little lightning bolt stitched into the fabric over the heart, as well as a picture from that he had decorated himself using Shinsous favourite flowers. The picture frame held a picture that Denki had taken on their first date, and it very quickly became his favourite picture of his boyfriend.

Just about the time, Denki finished packing his gift, he heard a knock on the door.

“Uh, one second.” He replied as he quickly hid the present in the closet to avoid ruining the surprise.

When he opened the door, however, he breathed a sigh of relief. It was Sero, not Shinsou.

“Hey man, I wanted to see if I can have my math notes back?” Sero asked as he uncomfortably stood at the door. He didn’t want to ask Denki for his notes back, but he needed them to study for an upcoming test and he knew Denki wouldn’t be using them anyway.

“Oh, sure, sure,” Denki said as he opened the door wider as an invitation for Sero to fully come into his dorm.

Sero stepped into the room, seeing it in a more chaotic state. It was odd for him to see. There was wrapping paper, tape, scissors, gift bags and glue all over the place. Not to mention purple glitter that could be seen on almost every surface.

“Uh, what’s all this?” Sero asked as he looked around the room. It wasn’t unusual for it to be messy, but it was weird to see craft supplies laying around.

“Shinsou’s birthday. I just wrapped his gifts and everything.” Denki replied as he looked through this messy desk for Sero’s notes.

“That explains the wrapping paper.” Sero laughed.

“Mhm,” Denki nodded, finally finding the notes in his desk.

“Here. Thanks for letting me borrow them.” Denki gave the papers back to Sero and walked him out of his room before going back to packing his belongings.

Denki didn’t need to pack much, as he usually ended up in Hitoshi’s clothes anyways. It became almost a tradition for the two, that Denki steals Shinou’s hoodie and leaves one of his own.

He tossed in a few random things he saw laying around his room and something slightly nicer for Shinsou’s birthday. He carefully put the gifts in his bag before zipping it up, making sure not to damage anything.

Denki was fixing himself up in the mirror when Shinsou came into his dorm. Shinsou was wearing his favourite black hoodie and some joggers to go with it. He had a bag slung over his shoulder and a jacket in his hands.

“You ready?” He asked as he stepped into Denki’s dorm.

“Yep!” Denki nodded his head, grabbing his back and a hoodie before heading out with Shinsou.

Shinsou and Denki made their way out of the dormitory and went to meet Aizawa and Mic in their car.

The ride to their home was quiet, mainly because Mic was tired and Aizawa always kept to himself. Denki was listening to music, sharing one of his earbuds with Shinsou, even if their music taste wasn’t exactly the same. Denki quietly sang and moved his body to the beat of the music while Shinsou struggled to hold in a little laugh.

When they made it to the house, the two of them went upstairs to unpack, while Mic and Aizawa called in for some takeout.

“You excited for your birthday?” Denki asked as he dropped his bag on the floor before throwing himself on Shinsou’s bed.

Shinsou sighed, stretching his muscled as he changed out of his hoodie into one of Denki’s t-shirts. “I guess. I don’t really know.”

“Come on,” Denki stretched out the word ‘on’ as he clung himself to his boyfriend. “I’m here, so of course the two of us are going to have fun.”

Shinsou didn’t reply, but laughed and shook his head as he laid down in his bed with Denki clinging onto him like a baby monkey.

Shinsou played a movie on his laptop as he cuddled with Denki, stroking his hair and giving him little cheek and forehead kisses out of random.

Denki was quick to fall asleep, to the rhythm of Hitoshi’s heartbeat, to the little kisses he got, to the movie playing in the background.

Shinsou tried pocking him, to see if he was actually asleep, but he didn’t budge. He slept like a log. A log clinging onto his boyfriend.

When Shinsou’s leg fell asleep, he decided to get out of bed and let his boyfriend sleep. As soon as he left the bed, Denki grabbed a pillow, and clung onto it, inhaling the smell.

Shinsou laughed and took a picture before he made his way downstairs. Aizawa was the only one home with them, as Mic took Eri to the park.

“Shinsou,” Aizawa spoke up. “I think we should talk.”

“About?” He asked as he made himself a cup of coffee.

“Denki.”

“What about my boyfriend?”

Aizawa sighed, knowing well that this isn’t something that Shinsou would like to hear. “He isn’t good for you.”

“How do you know this?” Shinsou shot out angrily. He couldn’t believe what his father was saying. Shinsou cared for his boyfriend dearly, the two of them liked each other dearly.

Denki woke up to the sound of yelling, which wasn’t unusual because Mic tended to be loud, even if he didn’t mean to. However, this time, it was Aizawa and Shinsou.

“-not what you think.” This was Aizawa talking about Denki.

“He’s a perfect boyfriend! What else could I need from him!” Shinsou snapped back at his father. “He likes me! He doesn’t care about my ‘villainous quirk’ and he sees the good in me.”

“Have you seen what he's like in school? He’s, and I'm sorry to say this, he’s a moron.”

Denki felt hurt, deeply hurt. his boyfriend's dad and his teacher is calling him an idiot, amongst other things. He felt a little happy when he heard Shinsou defending him.

“He might not be the brightest, but he’s trying. He knows where he goes wrong, and he tries to fix his mistakes.”

“He’s an idiot! A loud, dumb, blonde idiot!” Aizawa yelled, loudly, and Denki heard him clearly. “He cants do anything without screwing up!”

“He’s a good person! That’s all I care about!”

“I don’t like him okay?!” Aizawa spat out. “If you keep hanging out with him, you’re going to end up like an idiot as well. Maybe even more than he is!”

“He’s fucking sleeping, stop yelling!” Shinsou shot back.

Sadly, they didn’t know that Denki was already awake and that he heard almost everything that was being said about him.

Warm, salty tears made their way down Denki’s face. He tried wiping them away, he really did, but they just kept spilling.

Denki got out of Shinsou’s bed and walked over to where he dropped his bag. He carefully took out the gift he had for him, and the small gift he made for Eri and left it on his dresser. He left the hoodie he was wearing folded on his bed, and left the ring Shinsou got him on top of it.

Denki took one last long look at Shinsou’s room, enjoyed the comfort he had it in. It was fun while it lasted. Denki knew they wouldn’t be a forever couple, but he had hoped to be together for longer than a few months.

Denki quietly made his way down the stairs, trying to zone out the argument his boyfriend and his father were having, but he still heard the nasty things Aizawa was spitting either way.

The stair creaked when he reached the second floor, and the arguing immediately stopped. Both of their heads snapped in Denki’s direction, and he quickly rubbed his eyes so his crying would be less noticeable.

“Denki,” Shinsou whispered quietly. “Stay, please.”

“I, I think it would be better if I headed back,” Denki mumbled as he struggled to put on his shoes.

“Kaminari, please?” Shinsou asked as he approached him.

Denki shook his head and took a step back, making him closer to the front door. And Hitoshi didn’t like it. He tried stepping forward again, but Denki just stepped back.

“Who cares what my dad said.” Shinsou scoffed at Aizawa, glaring him down, before turning his attention back to Kaminari.

“Shinsou, family is important. One day you’re gonna look back at this and see that your dad was right.” Denki spoke up, sniffling in between his words.

Shinsou so badly wanted to go run up and hug him, but he knew Denki wouldn’t let him get close.

“But I want to be with you, and only you.” Shinsou almost cried. He knew that Denki heard what Aizawa said about him, and how Denki is probably upset, but he just wanted to hold his boyfriend and spend his birthday with him as they planned.

“I’m sorry Shinsou.” Denki apologized, fresh tears forming in his eyes. “And I’m sorry sir. I won’t bother you or your son anymore.”
