The Flame Has Gone Out.

Summary:

“Tommy? What are you doing here?” It was Quackity and he didn't sound mad at all. Why would Tommy think he would be mad? He didn't know, but he turned around. “Well, I wanted to be safe and I feel like Las Nevadas was better for that..as well as the fact that you don't seem to like Dream and Wilbur does, so I think I feel more comfortable.” He explained, fidgeting with his thumbs. “You've made the right decision, Tommy.” A hand patted his shoulder. He stood up and they went down. He made sure to stay close to Quackity, he felt protected. He followed him, his eyes darted around. He was worried about Wilbur finding out. He wasn't sure what he'd do. “Big Q, will you protect me?” “Of course, if needed.” That reassured him.

Chapter 1: The Other Assistant

Chapter Text

Tommy walked towards the country. Las Nevadas. All he wanted was safety and someone to trust. He sighed and went to the needle. He came to the top and looked around for Quackity. He doesn't see anything, so he sighs and walks to the balcony. He really meant it when he said that it was a great place to jump off and end it. He could hear the voices in his head, telling him not to jump. It was a bit odd, considering the fact that during his exile, they'd tell him to jump or do a flip. He looked down at the ground in an attempt to find Quackity. He was a bit blind since there was the large scar from Dream after Eret's betrayal. It went from a bit above his brow to a few inches below his bottom lip. It wasn't as unsettling as the raven haired man's scar, but it was something. He looked at his hands, he had two rings on both. One was Tubbo, a golden ring that had the Cat disc on it and another that had an eye of ender for Ranboo. He chuckled as he remembered how as the ceremony was happening, he acted like he was pissed off and didn't want to marry him, but in all honesty, Tommy enjoyed it. He hopped in front of the railings, holding onto the railing. His eyes looked down, he felt some anxiety. He didn't exactly like heights. He got back behind and walked to the table. He sat down in the chair he did while Wilbur and Quackity were talking. He couldn't help, but think of the two as divorced parents. But, that was besides the point. He needed safety and while Wilbur seemed to 'care' about Tommy and was technically family, he still thinks Tom's abuser is a hero whilst Quackity hurts his abuser. He felt like he cared more about him out of the two.

He sat there for what felt like an eternity, until he heard a voice. He fidgeted with his ring, he wished the two were around and were there for him. Quackity noticed and sighed, he stopped and turned to Tommy, “Give me the rings, Tommy.” He says, holding his hand out. The blonde flinched, “Wha...Why?” He asked, stepping back. “Give them and I'll explain.” Tom looked at them and took them off before setting the two in his hand. “Tommy. Don't you remember Tubbo exiling you? Why do you still wear this ring? They both wronged you.” He explained, “It's better to forget them before they can hurt you.” He adds then throws them into the water. “What...WHAT THE FUCK?!” Tommy screams, he went to run to the body of water, but his wrist was grabbed by the older. “No. Never trust anyone fully. They'll hurt you.” He heard him say. “You can't be serious. Big Q, Tubbo and Ranboo aren't gonna hurt m-” “AND WHAT DID THEY DO?! RANBOO LET YOU BE EXILED AND TUBBO EXILED YOU, TOMMY!” The blonde flinched, Quackity has rarely yelled at him. He noticed him calm down almost immediately which is unsettling, “Listen, Tubbo and Ranboo are going to backstab you, it's best if you don't trust them at all.” Tommy looked down, he felt a hand on his cheek which he immediately leaned into the touch, “You can't even trust me too much. But, just know, I'm the one you can trust the most.” He nodded, the hand grabbed his wrist and he was right back to walking.

Awe! Quackity! Big Brother Quackity! Those were some of the things the voices said, Tom ignored them and they went into a large building. He admired it, he'd never been in here before. His eyes sparkled with that same childlike wonder as when he first walked around Las Nevadas. But, right now, he couldn't walk around since Quackity was taking him somewhere. He sat down in an office. It was big and it had bookshelves that reach the ceiling. There was a ladder that seemed to move, he guessed that's how Quackity reaches the things he can't reach. “Alright, Tommy. You can be my other assistant.” Quackity explains, “What does that mean?” Tommy asks, “Well, you follow me around and help me do some work.” He looked down, rethinking about whether or not this was actually the right decision. Was Quackity going to be the same as Wilbur? No, he'd never hurt him. But, at the same time, he thought the same about Wil. He tried to think about the pros and cons. The reason he does this is because he was impulsive, which led to his exile. So he'd need to do this. He realized the pros outweigh the cons. So, he looked back at Quackity and nodded. He took a breath and felt safe with Quackity sitting in front of him, able to protect him from what could be behind him and in front of him. He realized something, he'd have to deal with Sam since he, likely, was the other assistant. He heard Quackity stand up, then he was handed new clothes. “You can't walk around like that. You look like a child.” Tommy smiled internally, finally someone who didn't treat him like a child or make him feel like one. He took them and was pushed into a bathroom. It was also considerably large, there was a carpet and a mirror. He looked at himself in it. It was a full length mirror.

Tommy began changing, but stopped before he put the shirt on. He looked at the cuts and bruises. He had Dream's name carved into his arm, which at the time hurt like all hell but now, it was a mere reminder of the one that had taken all three of his lives. He hated the bastard, how could Wilbur expect him to be on his side while also praising his abuser? He put the shirt on, it was comfortable. It looked almost identical to the one Quackity wore except it was black. The rest looked similar. It had the same suspenders. He sighed and squatted as he looked at his reflection. He looked eerily similar to Quackity. The scar only added onto it. He took a deep breath before standing up and walking out. Quackity was talking with Sam, “You look great, Tommy!” He watched the older stand up and walk over, “QUACKITY! WHY IS TOMMY HERE?!” Sam shouted, “We'll speak later, Sam!” “But-” “Later, Sam.” Quackity glared at the creeper hybrid, his wing wrapped around Tommy who was reminded of Phil, he felt comforted and safe. Maybe, Quackity was the better option. He heard the door open then slam shut. He looked at the duck hybrid, “Thanks..” He muttered, he noticed how Q looked a mix between comforting and protective. “You're welcome.” And, with that, they continued walking. Q kept an eye on him, despite saying that Tommy looked like a child, he was aware that since he'd never had that moment to be one, Tom would act like one. He made sure to check if Wilbur was anywhere, he couldn't have anyone challenging him. He won the fight, but that doesn't mean he hadn't won the war.

Quackity knew that Wilbur would come for Tommy and try to take him away from the hybrid's grasp, and he couldn't have that, could he?
