Work Text:
Sixty heard the whistle of the bullet before it struck him. Nothing prepares someone from the pain of being shot in the heart–or in this case thirium pump–not even being shot in the heart before. Sixty felt the all too familiar sensation of the bullet ripping through his internal biocomponents, or how time seemed to still as he felt himself falling to the floor. With every laboured pump, his quickly dimming optical senses could see the bright blue liquid spurting out of the gaping hole in his chest.
SHUTDOWN IMMINENT
-00:01:49 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
He heard a gut wrenching scream before something, no… someone appeared at his side. Gavin. Feeling the man frantically try to fruitlessly stem the bleeding in his chest forced a chuckle out of Sixty, which soon turned into a cough, his body attempting to heave out the slowly pooling Thirium in his lungs. His blood splattered all over Gavin but he did not seem to mind.
"Sixes you idiot! Why did you take that-"
"Gavin."
He hated how static was interwoven with his every word.
"-have a vest you fucker! You didn't need to do that ass-"
"Gavin, listen to me."
Gavin finally looked up from his attempt to save the android. Only then Sixty realised the man was crying, something he had never seen him done.
"Don’t cry, Gavin, don’t."
Gavin wiped away his tears with one hand and brushed back Sixty's hair with the other.
"I won’t cry if you don’t want me to."
"Gavin, I-"
-00:01:13 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
Sixty coughed out another spray of Thirium and the blue streaked over Gavin’s face. He tried wipe it off with his hand but only managed to mix the Thirium with the tears on Gavin’s cheeks.
“Shh, shh save your energy alright? It’s okay, you can tell me when Connor arrives with the medics.”
Sixty couldn’t keep out a laugh which led to more Thirium landing on Gavin’s face. Every artificial breath Sixty took led to more and more Thirium filling up his lungs and every other crevice in his chassis. When he got shot the first time it didn’t feel like this, so why did every breath hurt now?
“Con… Connor won’t arrive in time. Before I shutdown-”
“No! No… don’t remind me please…”
Sixty grasped Gavin’s hand and let his synthskin peel away, despite knowing that Gavin couldn’t accept the interface. He still pushed all his feelings for Gavin out. All the times he felt butterflies in his stomach when Gavin smirked at him, all the fuzzy feelings, the warmth and happiness he felt when he was around him. Every kind act that Gavin had done for him once he joined the DPD made Sixty’s heart flutter in appreciation. All those little things that Gavin did for him, everything that had shaped him to become who he is, all pushed into Gavin. With every push he felt more and more Thirium seep into his biocomponents. As he felt his voicebox become submerged, he prayed that somehow, somehow Gavin could feel it.
Gavin’s eyes blown into shock as his held his hand tighter.
“You like me?”
Sixty found the strength to nod his head. The tiredness that came from that action distracted him from the fact that it worked.
“I felt… everything. You’ve liked me for this long and you’ve never said anything?”
He still couldn’t process the fact rA9 answered his prayers. Holy fuck, rA9 actually answered his prayers.
-00:00:30 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
What a shame the God above answered them only now.
He just sent more and more emotions into Gavin. He wanted Gavin to feel everything he had throughout his short life. He wanted Gavin to feel how much of an impact he made in his life.
Shit, he just wanted Gavin to feel how much he loved him.
-00:00:03 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
Without warning, Gavin pressed his lips onto Sixty’s blood stained ones. It was everything Sixty imagined it to be, pure, absolute, heaven.
-00:00:02 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
Soft lips met artificial ones. Sixty wished he had the strength to wrap his arms around Gavin and push closer, because he wanted more and more.
-00:00:01 BEFORE SHUTDOWN
Sixty’s last thought was of Gavin. Like he always hoped it would be.

“-king, oh my god Elijah it’s working!”
Where… where was he? Last thing that happened was… the gunshot. Right, and finding out he could interface with Gavin. And then kissing Gavin. Man, the last part was still floor breakingly phenomenal.
He blinked, taking in his surroundings as his optical units stabilised. He was lying down in a bed— a hospital bed he realised. On his right was a raven haired man, his hair tied into a ponytail. And on his left…
“Gavin,” he croaked. Each consonant still sounded far too staticy for Sixty, but he counted his blessings. At least, somehow, he was alive.
“It really wasn’t so hard, baby brother. You should thank Cyberlide for having a hundred iterations of the Connor model, not me.”
Brother? Gavin had a sibling? Why was that not on file? And why-
All of those thoughts lay soon forgotten as Gavin leaned in and kissed him once again. Sixty never imagined that his first kiss could get any better, but he was wrong. This time, he wasn’t blood stained and they weren’t in a shoot out. And fucking finally, he could melt further into Gavin. Like a cat, he demanded more and more attention. Like a cat owner, Gavin granted his demands.
Sixty’s hand groped widely before meeting Gavin’s. Their fingers immediately interlinked and Sixty pushed as much raw emotion as he could. Gavin only squeezed their hands harder but it was enough. It was always enough when they were together.
“Ew. Well, you two continue making out, I’m going to work on something more fascinating than a display of high levels of dopamine.”
Sixty saw Gavin flash the middle finger with his other hands at his brother in the corner of his eye. It was something so remarkably Gavin, the simple gesture couldn’t help but make Sixty chuckle. They broke apart from the kiss, their foreheads still touching. Gavin’s pale green eyes bore into Sixty and his face was adorned with a watery smile.
“I missed you so much, Sixes.”
“I missed you too.”
