Coded Dreamspace

Summary:

Another four years had gone by. Four years after Basil was found dead in his room. Four years after Sunny was found dead in his room. Life hadn't been the same ever since that happened, but in the end they all managed to move on, for the sake of their friends who had passed away before them.

Aubrey felt like visiting them today. She didn't have anything else to do for the day after all, it was still summer break. She stood up from her bed and went to change. She did a sign of the cross as she passed by the church and walked towards the graveyard behind it.

She kneeled in front of Basil's grave for a few moments, before proceeding towards Sunny's and Mari's. She was silent for a few moments when she finally noticed a black inconspicuous bar in between the two graves. She stepped forward and took a closer look...

Notes:

This is my take on the Omori.exe fanfic.

Ngl this is gonna be shit since it's also my first fanfic. Let's just pray that all goes well and doesn't go to hell. I still got a short RpG Gamer Maker project to do too. Just don't expect too much from me for the sake of my mental health xd.

Just hoping you guys would enjoy too. And please do criticize me, I get that a lot and it helps with getting me to do my work better.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Visit

Chapter Text

Aubrey's brownish-black hair tipped with pink dye swayed in the gentle wind as she looked at the black object in between of both his best friend's graves. She took a closer look and discovered that it was a USB flash drive.

She wondered how something like this would appear here since it seemed out of place. Picking it up, she inspected it and a found a note stuck on the other side of the flash drive. A short gaso escaped from her mouth when she read the familiar text written on the note.

"Omori..?"

It was just a single word, but Aubrey was familiar with it. It was the name of the piano that Mari used to play when they were kids. She remembers how beautifuly Mari would play the instrument and how sometimes they'd hum along to the tune just because of how beautiful it sounded.

Noticing that her vision was starting to blur, she wiped her tears of her face and shook her head. There's no time to be emotional right now. I still have to figure out what this is.

"... I should head back home and check what's inside this thing." Aubrey says. "Let's hope this thing isn't busted... "

She regained her composture and greeted both Sunny, Mari, and Basil a silent farewell as she hurriedly walked towards her home.

-----

As she steps in front of her front door, she then notices how much has changed for the past few years. Most of her house had been repainted and renovated and didn't look like an old run-down shack anymore. You'd be shocked if you were to see both pictures of the old broken house and the one she lives in now where both the same house. The edge of her mouth twitched up. The amount of hard work she'd done the past years paid off.

She knocked on the door and entered, despite there being nobody here. Her mother had been taken to therapy and had to stay in the hospital for a weeks so that she could recover from her addiction towards alcohol. Her father leaving her behind really broke her into what her mother is today.

Just thinking about her father pisses her off, but she manages to take a deep breath and calm down. She was glad as she would later find out that if she hadn't loosened her grip she might have had broken the USB drive in her hand.

She's moved her room to the ground floor since it was faster for her o head to her college that way, and she didn't like the idea of dropping herself a story high anyway. She stopped by the kitchen and found a few snacks inside and decided to take a cold sandwich and put it inside the microwave to heat it up. It was still too early for lunch she thought, checking her wristwatch which read '9:35'. She hears the microwave make a small ding and gentle took the steaming sandwich out of the microwave. Blowing on it and carefully munching on it as to not get herself burnt. She gave a slight him as she savored the flavor of the nostalgic taste and grabbed the flash drive which she left on the dining table and started heading towards her room.

Her room was much more cleaner than before. There's still be clothes laying down on the floor but there were all stacked on one corner of the room opposite from the closet. She closed and locked the door, remembering whether or not she locked the front door as well before deciding that it probably didn't matter and went towards her desk. She sat down and placed her bitten sandwich on a plate she had already set up there. She also placed the USB drive on the opposite side of the desk as she carefully booted up her laptop.

As it finished loading up, showing the beautiful background scenery she chosed for her laptop, she inserted the flash drive to the port on the side and waited for it to load. She went and checked the new file that had opened in her computer files and there she found a familiar name.

E:\Documents\Games\OMORI

She quirked an eyebrow. It was odd for flash drive files to not access the file directly, so she believed that she had to put all of these files into the specific folder location. But then the other thing that caught her attention was that it was in the Games folder. Which meant the what she was about to do was playing a game, something that she hadn't done for a while.

She did what she had to do and finally clicked open on the OMORI file. There were a bunch of other stuff inside that were very unfamiliar to Aubrey, but there was one thing that she know she was familiar with.

"OMORI.exe?" She read aloud.

For as long as she knew, whenever theres an '.exe'at the end of an app name, it's most likely a game. She right clicked on it and made a short cut of it, making it display on the start screen.

Cold sweat started appearing on her forehead. She was also shaking a bit too. She doesn't know why she's nervous, but she doesn't let it get to the better of her too.

She gently moves the mouse and double taps the shortcut.

Click-click.

A small window appeared in the middle of the screen, it was black at first then turned into white.

An unfamiliar pixelate logo faded into the screen. It then faded out and showed what seemed to be a disclaimer which caught Aubrey's attention.

"... Depression, anxiety, and Suicide? This hits too close to home..."

A familiar tune of the piano started to play as the disclaimer slowly faded away.

Aubrey's eyes widened at the familiar face of a friend she had long lost.

She swore under her breath.

"What the fuck? Sunny?"
