Work Text:
“How did we let him convince us to do this?” Finan’s eyes darted around the crowded room and he couldn’t help the nerves that seized every fiber of his being since the moment he stepped into the gymnasium. The flashing lights, the gaudy decorations, the thumping music, the swaying bodies. Finan swallowed and stepped closer to Uhtred.
A laugh escaped Uhtred as he circled his arm around Finan’s waist and held him closer. “He can convince you to do anything.” He said lightly and then his voice dropped. “Almost anything.”
Finan snapped his head towards Uhtred and he let out a growl at the other man’s meaning. “Uhtred!” He hissed.
Uhtred just smiled knowingly again. “Gods, he looks so good in his tux. I just want to rip it off him and lick every inch of his body.”
Finan’s eyes darkened and he clenched his jaw. “Stop!”
Uhtred continued smirking at him obscenely as he let his hands drop from Finan’s waist. He brought them to the man’s front and hooked his fingers into his belt. He tugged Finan closer and smiled as he elicited another growl from the man. “I know you wanna fuck him. I can feel how much you want to.”
“Uhtred.” There was a warning tone in Finan’s voice.
Uhtred shivered against him and pressed himself even closer. “He’s 17.” He whispered against Finan’s ear. “Not so bad anymore.”
Finan pushed Uhtred away and turned. He breathed out and shook his head. “This was a mistake.” He grumbled and stalked across the crowded room. Uhtred was close on his heels.
Sihtric had been standing off to the side of the crowd, chatting idly with a few of his classmates. He tried to keep his distance, tried to not let his eyes wander too much to the two chaperones he’d begged into coming. He knew it was a silly request and he hadn’t even wanted to go to the stupid dance. But his grandmother had pretty much begged him to. And then he begged his secret soulmates to come as well. But he saw the shift in Finan’s demeanor and saw them both heading towards the door. Sihtric’s eyes widened and he pulled away from his friends and hurried to follow. “Wait!” He called once they were standing in an empty hall. The music from the dance still filtered in around them but it was softer. “You’re leaving?”
Finan heard the distress in the boy’s voice and he stopped. He dipped his head and rubbed at his forehead, a deep sigh emitting from his chest. He forced himself not to turn because he couldn’t bear the look of pain and disappointment he was sure would be all over the boy. He could feel it radiating off him. “I’m sorry, Sihtric. This was a mistake.”
Sihtric stepped closer to them. Uhtred turned towards him and the boy sucked in a breath at seeing those turbulent blue eyes on him. He tore his gaze away and stared at the back of Finan’s head, willing him to turn around. “Please… just… one dance. It can be in the dark corner or here in the hall or wherever.” He couldn’t stop the whine in his voice. “Just… please! Dance with me! Once!”
Uhtred stepped towards Sihtric and grabbed his hand without hesitation. He intertwined their fingers together and he smiled as he pulled the boy closer to him. “I will dance with you.”
Sihtric’s face lit up and he looked at Finan. “Fin?”
Finan heard the desperation in that use of his nickname and he couldn’t stop himself from turning if he tried. His eyes settled on both of theirs and he was walking towards them before he even processed it. He wrapped an arm around each of their waists and pulled them closer and they started to sway with the music.
