Work Text:

"Hey, hey, hey!" Bokuto turned to his teammates as soon as the ball hit the ground and the referee's whistle sounded in the huge gym, raising his arms mightily still feeling the impact of the ball on his hand, with a smile on his face. His golden eyes sparkled when he turned to meet all the other Fukurodani athletes' gazes, who were celebrating in a less conspicuous way than the captain, but were satisfied as he was. Akaashi, obviously, was the quietest of all, just smiling and complimenting everyone.
But soon, on their way to the locker rooms, the grit of the match ended up in a remote side of his mind. Bokuto-san, that day... had been really cool. The idea that they had started dating for a few weeks then made him smile; a smile that fortunately no one noticed.
Nothing had actually changed since they declared their feelings to each other, especially in front of the other teammates. They had never made it official, and not even revealed it to their friends. They kept going out together as they always did, just with a few kisses on the lips when they found an isolated place to seclude, and if that day the mood was particularly good even making out a bit. But apart from that, they remained friends as always.
"I have to go do the bathroom." Akaashi announced as soon as he finished getting dressed, going out of the locker room settling the bag on his shoulder, with someone mumbling from behind "Okay, but come back to celebrate!"

However, when he came back, he noticed that there were two girls in front of the locker room door.
He didn't know why, but he felt the urge not to approach and wait for them to leave.
He hid around a corner, pressing his thin body against the wall, and letting his head protrude slightly, with some raven tuft ending up in front of his eyes, still slightly damp after the shower.
Washio was "conversing" with them -actually more them talking and he was listening- behind the ajar door, and nodding he went back into the locker room without closing the door. Before Akaashi could wonder what was going on, Bokuto appeared from behind the door.
Akaashi's heart stopped for a moment.
"Bokuto-san, sorry... do you have a second? Come on, Mikipon!" The taller girl put an arm over the other, urging her to speak.
"Ah, um... I have always... I have always attended all the public matches that you have played, and" The girl stopped momentarily, biting her lips, trying to formulate a sentence.
Akaashi had no reason to hide, what was he doing?
"Bokuto-san, do you have a... a girlfriend?" Akaashi froze, immediately returning behind the wall. Fortunately, he was far enough away not to have been noticed by any of the three.
"A girlfriend?" As if his throat wasn't blocked enough already, after hearing Bokuto's voice in a situation like that, he swore he couldn't breathe.
"Ah, nothing! Nevermind!" The girl hugged her arms in front of her chest and lowered her head abruptly, hiding her blushing cheeks by strands of hair that fell in front of her face. "Maybe we could, well, exchange our phone numbers?"
Akaashi's legs wavered, and he found himself crouched on the cold marble floor, his arms in front of his face preventing him from seeing the scene. His breathing was heavy, he had never been like that. What was going through his head?
No. What was that? Stop it. Stop it!
"Uh? Sure." His eyes widened. He looked at the floor, grabbing tightly the shoulder strap of the bag and standing up without feeling the need to inhale or exhale, and walked towards the exit, forgetting the victory, not hearing the loud shouts of his teammates or Bokuto's voice being so... kind. Kind enough to irritate him.
"R-Really?" On the contrary, the girl was obviously over the moon.
"You did it, Mikipon! Don't cry." If only the two of them knew what they had just done.

As soon as the two girls turned and the door closed in front of him, his expression dropped, returning to finish changing.
"You are really popular with women, huh?" Komi asked rhetorically as he absently tried to fit his clothes into his bag. But Bokuto didn't answer. He turned towards all the people in the locker room in that moment, and noticed that Akaashi had not yet returned. It usually never took him that long, and, even though it didn't look like, Bokuto was a very good observer. Especially when Akaashi seemed worried or down in the dumps.
"I'm going out for a while." He announced, trying to hide his worried tone, partially succeeding, even if seeing Bokuto so serious always raised doubts in everyone.
"Aren't you staying to celebrate?" Konoha asked in surprise, rubbing a towel in his hair. Usually Bokuto was the one who liked to celebrate the most, and in fact he was the one who always insisted on taking the others around to celebrate.
"Not really." And without waiting for various greetings and farewells from his teammates he hurried to the door, not even stopping to fix the bag on his shoulder, risking tripping as he opened the went out.
"Hey, where is Akaashi?" The silver-haired boy could hear Sarukui's voice behind him, before the door closed with a loud thud.

The air was humid that evening. It was already dark, but it wasn't too cold. Just a breeze that kept the weather from being too hot.
Yet Akaashi swore he could feel chills running down his spine and up to his neck. He staggered on the sidewalk, with people occasionally turning to him and asking if everything was okay.
Involuntarily he had assumed a blank expression, which almost made him look sick.
He did not recover from his thoughts even when the phone rang, which he grabbed and looked at the screen absently, not even able to recognize the name of the caller and pressing the first button that came within range.
"Hey, Akaashi?" Ah, that voice. He frowned on instinct, not wanting to hear him again yet. Red button.
He didn't have time to put the phone back in his pocket that it rang again, and bringing it close to his face he answered again.
"Where are you?" He inhaled sharply. Fuck!
Red button. Contact blocked.

How long had it been now? Probably a few tens of minutes. Akaashi found a deserted playground due to the late time, and laid on the ground looking up at the sky.
Slowly he had recovered, at that moment quite conscious, and decided to let his thoughts flow in his head as he gazed at the stars.
He had to stop it. He had to stop with all that. He could still forget. Maybe. Pretend nothing ever happened.
His eyes followed the imaginary lines of the constellations, noticing the brightest ones, the largest ones, the moon.
He could feel his eyelids getting heavy and his throat locked again. He pressed his lips together until they trembled, trying to limit that unpleasant sensation.
The phone rang. Again.
'Pay phone' in luminous letters appeared on the screen, although Akaashi did not look at it again.
"Hello-"
"Where are you!?" Akaashi hesitated.
"In some park's sandbox..." Had it not been for the particular circumstance he would not have even bothered to figure out who it was, even if it was difficult with that voice. He answered impactfully, as if it were any question, without expecting anything.

Minutes passed that felt like hours, and when he was about to forget the call, he heard footsteps approaching him quickly. As soon as he realized it he got up on his elbows, just in time for Bokuto to literally jump on him and bring his arms around his body. Akaashi, still shocked by the impact, hit him on the head a couple of times and then tightened his grip on the shoulder to try to push him away.
"Let go of me." But the other, in response, pressed closer to him, buring his face in his neck.
"No." And sliding his hand around the raven's forearm, he rubbed his face up the other's neck until their lips met.
"Let go!" But his laments were immediately muffled by the other's mouth, who kissed him violently taking his breath away.
Akaashi's eyes widened, but after a brief moment trying to break away he gave up and settled into Bokuto's strong grip, blushing when he felt his tongue pressing on his lip asking to enter. As soon as he slightly opened his mouth, the other, taken by the mood, pushed forward, making the other's back hit the sand again.
After a few seconds of making out, Bokuto moved away a few inches from the other's face, opening his eyes.
The other was flushed, and his eyes opening remained half-lidded. So handsome. Bokuto was really lucky.
"Was I cool? On the field, I mean?" He pressed his forehead against the other's and asked in a hopeful tone.
"I don't know." The raven tried to avoid their gazes meeting, turning slightly, without trying to dissolve the embrace. "Aren't you popular, Bokuto-san?"
"Huh? Me?" The other tilted his head, trying in vain to bring the other to look him in the face. He continued, in a softer and deeper voice. "Was I cool, then?"
"I don't know." Akaashi whispered.

"Is it fun being with me?" Bokuto had his eyes fixed on his face in silence as the other spoke. "Going through all that trouble… making yourself hang out with someone who's gloomy and always so serious… and unstylish… and a guy…"
"Akaashi." Bokuto interrupted him with half-lidded eyes, which were finally able to meet the other's. "I'm getting angry." Akaashi swallowed, widening his eyes. The silver-haired boy then, realizing what he had just said, tried to reassure him grabbing his shoulders and shaking him a little bit gently. "No, wait! I didn't mean it! I'm not angry, really! But… fuck!" Unable to find the right words, he just embraced him tighter.
"Bokuto-san?"
"Fuck, dude… fuck!" He began whispering and then raised his voice more and more. "I don't get it at all, why are you saying such weird stupid things! Idiot!" He tilted his head back to meet Akaashi's gaze again, who was still surprised at that moment by his unusual reaction. "You're thinking too much! Seriously! I was so worried about you! I thought you were a goner! Idiot!" He continued to shake him as he had done before, but Akaashi was so engrossed in the conversation that he didn't get bothered in the least, contrary to usual. "Why do you always expect the worst to happen for no reason? Why do you always think badly about yourself? You're so difficult! Damn, you idiot!" His grip tightened. "This is bad for my heart, fuck! Always blocking my calls! I thought I was gonna die! Cut that stuff out already, fuck!" And he stopped, resting his head on his shoulder exhaling in exhaustion. Even though he was used to talking a lot, monologues like that had always been challenging. "You... idiot!"
"Don't call me an idiot…" Akaashi sighed in response, his voice broken as if he were about to cry, but not actually being sad.
There were seconds of silence.
"You're my number one." Akaashi's heart stopped. Rarely Bokuto had been so serious in his life, and especially with him. "Akaashi, you're my number one."
"Are… are you serious?" The raven was genuinely relieved, and he didn't try to hide it. He slipped his arms behind Bokuto's neck, hugging him. "Damn you..."

Lost in their embrace it took him several seconds to notice that two hands had slipped under his shirt, and cold fingers were traveling up and down his back.
"Um… your hands are moving on my back…" And his arms pushed him closer to the other's body, bringing Akaashi's face over his shoulder.
"Well, it's like a punishment." His back arched suddenly as his hands lifted his shirt, his skin meeting the fresh air.
"Uh!?" He couldn't see Bokuto's face at that moment, but he swore he heard a malevolent smile form.
"Just the back, nothing more." The other replied unfocused, more interested in teasing his lover.
"Ah, amazing… your spine feels good." Compared to the ace's big hands, the setter's body looked smaller than it actually was, his waist already quite skinny. "It stands out nicely." He started to trace every single bone that could be felt by the touch from the back, passing his fingertips or the tips of his nails. "One... two... three... scapula." Akaashi jumped at the contact, arching his back forward and stretching his neck past his back. "Scapula are what's left of our wings." Bokuto continued impassively, most likely aware of what he was doing to the poor raven. "A novel said that."
"I... don't know." The setter struggled to speak, when the other's forefinger ran up his spine. "Bokuto-san... It..." He twisted his back, shivering, relaxing when the other moved away his finger and rested his entire palm on his skin.
"It tickles?" Akaashi nodded, buring his face in his shoulder to hide his blush.
"So... it tickles, uh? And nothing else?" Bokuto slowly slid his palm further and further forward, contouring his chest with his fingers and reaching his nipple.
Akaashi felt a jolt throughout his body starting from where his hands were touching, and in surprise, trembling, he let out a "Ah!-" a few octaves higher than usual.
They both blushed heavily.

"No! It's not like that, j-just now I-" Akaashi immediately tried to justify himself, becoming adorably embarrassed, with Bokuto staring at him almost as if hypnotized.
"It's recorded." He whispered completely ignoring his words, finding irresistible that only with him he showed himself so vulnerable.
"Uh, what!?" The other blurted out, in a mixture of disbelief and genuine concern.
"I recorded it. In my heart." The other pointed out, smirking like usual. "Now I can replay it whenever I want."
"You idiot!" Akaashi tried to appease him, obviously failing, bursting embarrassed.
"Ahh, today was great!" By then Bokuto had returned like usual, happy to have made up with his lover.
"You huge idiot!" The other repeated, although he obviously liked seeing Bokuto in such good mood.
"It somehow turned into way more than just a won match, uh?"

Bokuto stood up, offering his arm to Akaashi to help him as he adjusted his shirt and brushed the sand off.
"You said you'd only touch my back."
"Yeah yeah, sorry, my hand slipped."
