My first memory was of heaviness, of tension crackling through the air. I saw the sky crack into pieces, spilling thunder that unfurled in splendid strands across the earth.
I saw that searing fire burn through the world while god-men laughed, intoxicated by the struggle, emboldened by the power they possess, false gods getting torn from their high perches, joining the ground in a dripping crescendo.
I smelt the smoke of burning flesh, the crackling skin cooking in the heat, the repulsive musk of human waste in the ever raging wind.
I heard screams tear through the air like a never ending symphony. The incessant shouts and screams of a foreign tongue, which despair rings true and undoubted.

Falling off a slaver's ship in the middle of the New World was a miscalculation. Walking up to the Red-Hair Pirates' ship to chase it was a bad decision.
Ending under his protection after very clearly refusing to ever ally herself with pirates? Well, that was bad for her ego.

if i had a nickel for every time ive read a fic where the fandom had casted javier as the main antagonist of the film who captures the protagonist and said protagonist falls in love with him in the process, and has exactly 37 chapters, I would have 2 nickels, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice
