I’m sitting on the med table, Kix has a small smirk on his lips, my hands are fidgeting on my lap as we both wait. Rex comes in with Cody and fives on his heels, rex clearly looks like he’s stressed and worried.
“Cyare, what’s wrong?” Rex asks almost out of breath.
I can’t help but chuckle at his reaction “I’m OK, I’ll tell you what’s going on, but first you need to calm down.”
Rex looks offended, while Cody, Fives and Kix are suppressing their chuckles. “What? I am calm!” He says clearly not calming down. I raise an eyebrow almost like saying ‘really?’
“I am calming down” He says still panting. Eyebrow still raised on my face.
He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, opens his eyes and stares straight into my eyes. His warm brown eyes were calm now and full of adoration. His mouth smirking as he says “I’m calm, see”
I couldn’t help but smile like a love sick puppy as he held my hands. I closed my eyes took a deep breath and looked at Rex’s eyes with love. “Rex, love …” I took a deep breath and gripped his hands “I’m pregnant!”
Rex’s smile turns into a full grin, ear to ear. Cody slaps him on the back and Fives is cheering behind him. Kix is grinning like an idiot and congratulating him as well.
Rex kisses my forehead and then he stiffens, he leans back looks at me and asks one of the dumbest questions someone could ask “I don’t get… I don’t understand… how?”
I facepalmed, Cody just pinched his nose and shook his head. Fives mouth just gapped open. Kix was trying his hardest to stiffle the laugh that was fighting hard to come out.
Kix finally gained his composure and tried in his best medic voice “you see Rex, when a husband and wife love each other and they get that special feeling…”
“Don’t have to be married” commented Cody
“Thats true” responded Kix, “when a man and woman are in love…” continued Kix.
“Don’t have to be in love, either” added Fives
“That’s not what I meant” gritted Rex, “What I meant was, we were being careful, don’t get me wrong I’m super happy, I just didn’t think it would happen so soon”.
“Be glad, I love you as much as I do” I responded.
Kix added “you know even the best contraceptives are 99% effective”
“WHAT!?!” responded Fives, we all turned to look at him, as he pulled out a strip of condoms and began reading the disclaimer, “huh! Well I’ll be” He added.
We just all shook our heads, I looked back at Rex who just looked into my eyes, tears started to form and he moved his forehead to touch mine in a keldabe kiss. “I love you, I hope we have a girl who looks exactly like you, has your sense of humour
and your courage”
