“Pssssst,” a very familiar, annoying voice hisses and Sunghoon grudgingly opens his eyes, still half asleep. “There's a bug.” Jay squeaks in distress, as if it explains everything.
It does, not that Sunghoon will give him that satisfaction. “Congratulations, Jayah,” he mumbles, pulling the blanket closer and the older is fidgeting, eyes shaking and for a second he feels sorry for him.
It's just a second though.
“In my bed,” Jay whispers, careful not to wake the others, while Sunghoon is sure Heeseung and Riki are still gaming, Jaeyun preparing some late night snacks and the other maknaes in deep slumber, so really no need to be this considerate.
But that's how Jay is, always putting others first.
Sunghoon hums, knowing exactly what the other wants and denying it. He bites the inside of his cheek when he sees his friend squinting his eyes suspiciously at him, before sighing, giving in.
“Can I sleep with you?” “So rude, take me out first~” Sunghoon laughs quietly, seeing Jay's disgruntled expression and the way his face scrunches up as if he bit on a lemon. “Bastard,” he curses under his breath instead of an answer, slowly crawling to his side like a cat.
“I didn't say yes,” he continues to tease, but Jay just throws a leg over his hip, more forceful than necessary. “Urgh ,” he complains, voice a bit whiny but his boyfriend doesn't care.
“Shut up, you love me.” Sunghoon hums again, silently agreeing and pulling him closer, so he can pepper his face with soft kisses. “Don't worry, Sunghoonie hyung gonna save you from the meanie bugs,” he coos and well, he certainly deserved that punch to his stomach.
“For fucks sake, every time you open your mouth it destroys everything your pretty face saves. If only Engene knew how annoying you are behind that prince front,” Jay grumbles, pout visible even without him seeing it. “Shut up, you love me,” he mimics the other, giggling softly when all Jay does is sigh and cuddle closer, head nestling near his heart since he mentioned how the steady beat never fails to calm him. Precious baby.
“I meant it, though. I'm gonna protect you from anything and everyone, Jongseongah, even from our precious fans if I have to,” he promises, only getting soft puffs of air as a response.
“Sweet dreams, love.”

“You're so fucking weird I swear to god,” Jaeyun says as he drops down next to him, gulping the water bottle down as if he completed five hours of practice instead of playing around with Riki. These two take their games way too seriously. Sunghoon glances towards him for a moment before giving his attention back to Jay, who's currently in the process of teaching Sunoo the basics of cooking.
It's…not going well.
“Sunooah, just because I said add as much as you think is right, doesn't mean to add all. Less is sometimes the better solution.” “But hyung, when we practice hard for good results, it's 'cause more is better, right?” “That's true but you can't just use this thought for everything. It's not always working.” “Oh, never thought about it like that.…” “Really, wouldn't have figured.”
Sunghoon grins at their banter, used to it and enjoying the way they're so comfortable with each other. Sunoo worried him sometimes with how quiet he can get, but it's just the way he is and he seems to have found comfort in Jay, like they all did.
He forgot the presence of his friend, who isn't shy to make it known by kicking him. “What,” Sunghoon glares annoyed.
“I just don't get why you're so weird, like if you wanna sleep with Jongseong, ask him? Is not like he would say no, so why the unnecessary detour.” Sunghoon gives him a blank look and Jaeyun rolls his eyes, slowly pulling something out of his pocket and into his friend's hand. “I found the bug, imagine my surprise when I saw it's a toy one, like super obvious but we both know Jay wouldn't look twice when he's scared and of course running to you, his knight in shining armor.” He rolls his eyes again, voice dripping in sarcasm while the younger quickly puts the toy away.
Sunghoon blinks, looking for all intent and purposes innocent.
“It's fun,” he says finally, Jaeyun not buying it for a second. “Jongseong… he, hmmmm, looked more on edge these days and you know how instead of searching for comfort in anything, even from me, he rather believes his worries aren't big or important, which honestly pisses me off. So don't worry, I just wanted to selfishly hold him in my arms once and bring him silent comfort before confronting him. He should know, no matter how little or silly his worries are, he can always count on me. Always.”
Jaeyun grimaces, but Sunghoon sees the corner of his lips twitch. He loves love, despite the cringe.
“Ohhhhhh, our itty bitty Ice Prince is a big ball of mush, huh” he coos, pinching his cheek and Sunghoon is one second away from decking him, when someone interjects. “What's up,” Heeseung asks, rubbing his eyes and yawning. He has just woken up and stumbled into the loud room, wondering why everyone was so lively in the morning.
“Ah nothing, hyung~,” Jaeyun smirks and oh no, he's going to say something super embarrassing. “Sunghoonie here was just telling me how much he adores Jay's sleeping face, peaceful like an angel, he can't stop himself from watching and waxing poetry.” Sunghoon's face promises pain and he hears retching sounds suspiciously coming from the maknaes.
“What the fuck, don't believe this jerk, I most definitely–” “ Oh,” Jay exclaims and Sunghoon looks right into his flushed face, he's biting on his lips, opening the split again and ah, he does that when he's shy and well, theoretically what Jaeyun said was right anyway, no need for denial, so he stays quiet, letting the others tease him and it's all worth it when Jay sits down on his other side and pecks his cheek, smile bright and eyes twinkling.
