He was, technically speaking, meant to be sticking close to Wen Qing. That was one of the approximately three thousand rules (it was probably much less. Probably. It certainly felt like three thousand). Guests Will Stay By Their Sponsors. But Wen Qing was cruising, and it would be unfair of Wei Ying to make it harder for her to find someone. Who would go for someone they thought had brought a date?
It had nothing to do with Lan Zhan. Nothing at all. Wei Ying was thirsty. He was going to grab a drink for himself and Wen Qing. It was the Responsible Friend thing to do. He was not going to scope out the entire club on his way over, or take the long way around the room. He wasn’t desperate.
