They are in the middle of packing away the last DVDs from this year’s Interhigh and scooping up stray packs of Pocari drink mix from under the bench that Kuroko missed in his heroic efforts to catch Nigou when Hyuuga suddenly straightens up, looks Kiyoshi directly in the eye, and says, “You’re in love with someone.”
“I am always in love with someone,” says Kiyoshi, after a moment. He tosses a handful of drink mixes into the box and lets the dust settle in the air before he continues. “You know that.”
“No,” Hyuuga tries again, and waits for Kiyoshi to passively affirm the intentions of this line of questioning, because there is a limit to how abrasive he can be and he’s only vaguely aware of it. “You’re in love with me.”
Kiyoshi purses his lips. “How do you figure out something like that?”
“I just want to know why,” says Hyuuga, his suspicions confirmed.
“There doesn’t have to be a reason for me to love somebody,” Kiyoshi just smiles, then. “Or is it because you want me to make an exception for you?”
