And being the nice sibling that I am, I share it with you guys.

Work Text:

It was truly unfortunate. The day before everything was quarantined, Sungchan had asked Shotaro out on a date. That date and everything else he had planned for the rest of the year had been canceled and filled with uncertainty.

However, Shotaro considered himself optimistic. Not toxicity positive, but positive enough that everything would go out well. He and Sungchan hadn’t stopped talking during the quarantine and even stayed up a few hours longer just to talk with one another on the phone.

Both were glad that neither had lost their mind over the quarantine yet. Soon enough, everything was slowly back to normal. He could meet people and a few shops were opened again.

Once again, Sungchan asked Shotaro out on a date. Like before, Shotaro agreed to it.

Since they didn’t want to go outside (they didn’t need to really. All they could do is walk around and get some air), they decided for a movie date at home.

It was cliché, classic and harmless (if Shotaro ignored the “netflix and chill” jokes of his friends). Nonetheless, falling asleep was a challenge for Shotaro the night before his date. His very first date with anyone.

His heart was beating fast and his stomach was twisting and turning with a pleasant feeling. But insecurities crowded his mind.
Was staying home too boring? Maybe they should’ve planned a day out, possibly with a mask. No way, he was a good citizen and stayed home if he didn’t need to go out.
Would it be safe there? Sungchan lived together with his two brothers. Besides, he trusted Sungchan enough that he wouldn’t do anything to him. He never did before when they were just friends and he wouldn’t do it now.

To summarize, Shotaro couldn’t close his eyes that night. Once the realization settled in, he regretted everything. The date, the outfit he had picked the day prior, his bed location across his window, his messed up sleep schedule.

Shotaro used to stay up real late during school time and would still be fine the day after despite living with nearly 2 hours of sleep. Since he couldn’t do much during quarantine, he eventually found a healthy sleeping pattern again.
This was the first time after a while of staying up so long and Shotaro wondered. How could he have liked to be so sleep deprived in school, this was awful.

Nonetheless, he propped himself up and left his apartment. He made a quick stop at the coffee shop to get two iced americanos for himself (he lied to himself that he would perhaps give Sungchan one but he wasn’t sure yet) before finally reaching the all too familiar house.

After a knock on the door, Sungchan opened it, delighted to see Shotaro on the other side (with a mask but his eyes always exposed his blinding smile).
Shotaro felt bad for Sungchan. He was dressed casually chic in his own home, probably only for him. He knew how uncomfortable it was to suddenly wear clothes of stiff material like denim again. Especially since they had lived the past months in sweatpants. It was a pain in the morning for Shotaro to get back into his pair of jeans.

The house was oddly quiet. One of his brothers, Jungwoo, was out meeting a friend of his while his oldest brother, Jaehyun was at home staying in his room and wouldn’t bother them, as long as they were at a normal volume level.

“Thank you for bringing coffee”, smiled Sungchan and placed it on the coffee table. (Guess, Shotaro would only have one of the cups then.)
“I was in need of caffeine. If I’m being honest, I couldn’t sleep last night.”

How coincidental. But instead of saying ‘Me too. Crazy how we both love to ignore our biological needs.’, he just said, “Why?”
Yeah, he wouldn’t expose himself to Sungchan anytime soon. Especially since Sungchan himself was partly the reason for his sleep deprivation.

“I finished all of my school projects last night so that I am free from responsibilities today.”, replied Sungchan bashfully. It was silly, but Shotaro felt oddly honored. For procrastinator Sungchan finishing something before the actual deadline just to spend the whole day with him?

They settled down on the couch after placing many snacks on the coffee table. Some snacks were store bought. Sungchan even prepared some homemade snacks. There were a few leftover chicken they decided to eat along as well. At first, they watched movies and drank their iced coffee. Soon, they even started to watch the different series and dramas that grew popular online.

They didn’t talk a whole lot, but grew physically closer and closer. It started with awkwardly sitting next to each other. Then, Shotaro found himself cuddled up under Sungchan’s arm. When they started their second series, he was practically lying on Sungchan with his head resting on the taller’s chest. The latter was sprawled across the whole couch and used the armrest as a pillow. They probably looked like a mother otter floating in the sea while their baby otter was lying on top of them.

The series reached a boring moment. Shotaro couldn’t remember what led up to this moment. All he could think about was the way Sungchan gently ran his hand up his fluffy hair at the back of his head and the rhythmic pats from his other hand he felt near his waist.

At this point, the caffeine of the coffee had run off. Shotaro had a hard time keeping his eyes open. Sungchan’s warm body pressed against his own, their lying positions and the gentle touch he was feeling. He felt at peace.

Sungchan’s chest also found a rhythm. When Shotaro’s pupils moved up, he saw his date's eyes closed. His lips parted slightly from which a stream of air left ever so often.
Sungchan looked cute when sleeping. The series was left forgotten since Shotaro was watching the sleeping person he was lying on.

A tiny yawn escaped his lips and he closed his eyes. He rested his head against the toned chest and relaxed his muscles.

Finally, he fell asleep peacefully in the arms of the person he trusted and loved.

Extra:

“Sungchan-ah, does Shotaro want to stay over for din-“

Jaehyun stopped at the sight in front of him. The television showed the homescreen of Netflix, on the coffee table were empty bags, plates and cups of snacks (and coffee?). Jungwoo squatted in front of the two sleeping students on the couch. With a phone in hand, he snapped pictures.

“”Hyung! Look how cute they look!”, whispered Jungwoo as he showed him the many pictures he had taken.

Jaehyun snorted at the sight. He was used to seeing Sungchan sleeping, but together with Shotaro it looked just adorable.
Sungchan had his arms protectively over Shotaro. His cheeks pressed against Sungchan’s chest looked especially squishy. His lips formed a cute pout and he grabbed onto Sungchan’s oversized sweater with tiny fists.

“Send it to the family group chat.”, was all Jaehyun said before he went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for four.

On their next date, Shotaro blushed when he took a quick glance at Sungchan’s new wallpaper on his phone.

Notes:

They are so cute pls never seperate them.

But srsly SM, give me Shotaro content or I will go crazy-
