Work Text:
Having the doorbell ring at 1AM was an unpleasant feeling which made Seokmin shoot up in bed in near panic.
Someone being outside your door at this time of night could never be a good sign and various scenarios shot through his head, ranging from bad to absolutely terrifying.
His breathing irregular, heart hammering in his chest, Seokmin looked over at the lump sleeping next to him.
His boyfriend was sleeping soundly, perfectly illuminated by the streetlight outside the window.
The door bell rang again, sending a small shock through Seokmin’s body.
Mingyu still didn’t stir.
He sighed loudly and slid out of the bed, naked feet touching the cold floor. “Fine, I guess I’ll go,” he muttered. “If I get killed by an axe murderer I will haunt you.” Though the thought of becoming a ghost made Seokmin even more scared.
The only reply he got was a light snore.
With long strides he reached the door in no time, feeling blessed when he remembered the peeping hole. Was it scary to look through it? Definitely, Seokmin had been forced to watch enough horror films to know all the possible ghostly things he could see, but at least if there was a murderer on the other side they wouldn’t be able to get to him.
All his fear of murder and ghosts left his body immediately when he saw who was the other side, but now dread and worry filled every single vein in his body.
Why was his hyung at his apartment at this time? Had something happened to him? To one of his boyfriends? To any of their friends?
Quickly Seokmin opened the door, worry etched into his forehead. “Jeonghan hyung, what are you doing here?”
Jeonghan stood there, looking small in in the oversized jacket and the soft hair he had dyed pastel pink a few weeks back. He looked impossibly young.
“I can’t sleep.” Jeonghan talked in a monotone voice, gently pushing past Seokmin and heading into the small apartment.
“You could have called.” It seemed a little bit risky to go all the way here, in case Seokmin nor Mingyu had woken up.
“I tried, but you didn’t pick up.”
Oh. Seokmin’s phone had been shitty lately, the battery unreliable. It must have died.
“I even tried calling Mingyu.”
“Mingyu always turns off calls for the night.” A habit Seokmin didn’t like because what if something happened and he was unreachable?
“Figures.” Jeonghan looked tired, bags under his eyes. “Let me sleep over.”
“Sure, you can have the couch.”
Jeonghan looked unimpressed. “No I can’t sleep alone.”
Odd. Jeonghan was a sensitive sleeper, had complained so much whenever he had to share a bed with someone. Even one of Jeonghan’s boyfriends had been cursed to hell and back.
(“He snores. Not loudly, but enough to be annoying. And he keeps moving all the time! Before he falls asleep and even when asleep. And! When he doesn’t move, he is clinging to me so tightly I can hardly breathe. It’s impossible to sleep with him in the same bed!”
“So it’s a dealbreaker?” Seokmin knew his hyung had broken up with his past lovers for a lot less.
“No.”
That was the moment Seokmin knew Jeonghan was truly in love.)
“Seungcheol is on a vacation with his friends right?” Seokmin mumbled. Mingyu was supposed to be on the trip too, but couldn’t get time off from work. “And Shua is still visiting his parents? You usually love when they are away.” Jeonghan had talked about how important alone time was (Seokmin agreed) and how it just made their time together all the sweeter.
“Usually it’s only a weekend or maybe four-five days, but for two weeks and at the same time? Terrible timing and now I can’t sleep, Seokminnie. The past two days it’s been too quiet and I-“
It wasn’t often Jeonghan allowed himself to look vulnerable, but he never had any qualms showing it in front of the people he loved and trusted with his whole heart. Seokmin was one of the few lucky people.
“So, please?”
There wasn’t a proper question in there, but Seokmin knew what he meant and he couldn’t say no. He always struggled saying no to the people he adored, especially when the person was Jeonghan, someone who was practically family.
“Of course, hyung.”
Jeonghan looked relieved and grateful, a small, kind smile on his lips as he let the jacket fall on the ground. Seokmin smiled when he saw the pink pyjamas covered in teddy bears, as it was the same one he himself was wearing. The whole bottom squad had gotten matching pyjamas.
“Really?” Mingyu mumbled, eyes barely open as the two men entered the room.
Jeonghan grinned.
“Just go back to sleep, Mingyu.” Seokmin knew his boyfriend didn’t actually mind, he just liked to pretend as if he found Jeonghan annoying and Jeonghan did the same, but he had also seen the two work perfectly together when there was a common goal (aka whenever they played football together with friends and were on the same team. Especially if the two were against Seungcheol and Seungkwan).
Seokmin slipped into the bed again, in the middle, snorting when he heard Mingyu already sleeping heavily. Jeonghan followed suit, wrapping himself in the blanket. Mingyu had already hogged his own blanket, so Seokmin pulled at the one Jeonghan had grabbed and soon the two were snuggled under it.
“Thanks, Seokminnie.” Jeonghan sounded so extremely exhausted.
“Reminds me of the sleepovers we used to have in the past,” Seokmin whispered. “We should do this more often, but maybe planned next time.”
Jeonghan had already passed out, breathing heavily.
“Sleep well, hyung.”
Seokmin allowed himself to be taken away into sleep as well, a smile on his lips as he was squished between two of the people he loved the most.
