Chapter Text
It was over, as Omori looked down from his position on the hospital roof, he reflected on everything that happened. It’s not like he hated Sunny, quite the opposite actually. Sunny was responsible for Omori’s creation, and they spent the past four years together playing with their friends. Granted, Omori wasn’t sentient for some of that, but still. This was just his job, what Sunny created him for and what headspace allowed him to do.
Protect Sunny from the truth at all costs.
Despite what the stranger says, Omori wasn’t evil (at least he never saw himself as evil), he was just doing what he was told to by his creator. Of course with the truth exposed, Omori had no choice but to adapt. If he couldn’t do his job through suppression, then he’d have to do it through death. Well sorta. While his body will die, his consciousness would stay with Omori as the two adventure through headspace for eternity. Sunny should be thrilled at the thought of spending eternity with his dream friends. So Omori couldn’t understand…
Why was Sunny so against this?
In Headspace:
Mari was alive, and was as happy and safe as can be. Hero never lost the love of his life. Aubrey never felt abandoned and remained her happy go lucky self. Kel never had to face the harsh reality of his brother’s despair. Basil was never wrecked with guilt or bullied by his former friend. And Sunny could go on countless adventures.
Compared to that, what’s so great about reality?
In reality:
Mari was dead and probably hated him (if that monochrome Mari was actually the real Mari, then why wait until Sunny was gonna move in two day to make her presence known?). Hero lost the love of his life. Aubrey became a delinquent and nearly killed one of her former friends after bullying him to the point where it’s possible she’s partially the reason for how bad Basil got. Kel had to watch as his brother spiraled downwards in a pit of despair. And Basil had it worse than Sunny did, since Basil didn’t even have an escape like Sunny did.
So why after all that, did Sunny still wanna face the truth? Even now Sunny desires to face the truth. Omori considered just shrugging it off and jumping, but he was too curious. Who knows, maybe whatever he learns could be used to make a better headspace for Sunny. It’s not like he couldn’t kill Sunny another time, he had complete control over his mind after all. So with nothing to lose, Omori made his way to Basil’s room.
