Work Text:
“FUCK!”
Katsuki shrieked as he stubbed his toe on the edge of the counter, wincing as he grabbed the disgruntled appendage and sat down, rubbing it gently.
Katsuki just wanted to leave his goddamn home, have a nice, relaxing Saturday, and finally get a new piercing to add to his growing collection. Instead, he spills his coffee on his favorite shirt and gets assaulted by a fucking kitchen counter, leaving him with a wet shirt, a stinging pain in his toe, and a sour mood.
Not that a sour mood is out of the norm for Katsuki — his resting mood is anywhere between ‘touch me and I'll kill you’ or ‘eat shit and die’. No in between.
But now, the blonde is sitting on a mild irritation mixed with a simmering rage ruining what was supposed to be a peaceful day. His idiot squad (his friends but he’ll never admit it) are all busy that day doing something or other, and it’s nice to have a break from them. He likes spending time with them tolerates them, but they’re so fucking loud.
He’s only twenty two, fresh out of college, but everytime he hangs out with them he feels like an overworked mother of four.
Katsuki breathes deeply, in and out, remembering the calming techniques his therapist taught him. Feelings Bitch, as he dubbed her after one session, said that coping mechanisms for his anger like breathing techniques and stress balls, or even just punching something ( not someone) could do wonders for him. And he hates to admit that they did.
After the breathing exercises, Katsuki stands up and moves to the corner of his flat where a punching bag hangs next to a couple weights. He takes his aggression out on it for a while before making himself another cup of scalding hot black coffee and sitting down, feeling much more relaxed.
Katsuki scrolls through his phone, munching on a bagel and sipping his coffee while absentmindedly reading the news and checking Twitter for anything noteworthy. He finds nothing, and drops his phone to go take a shower.
It’s cold, because Katsuki naturally runs hot and his skin looks better with cold water, but he still enjoys it. Soon enough — because Katsuki is nothing if not efficient — he’s out of the shower and getting dressed. He ends up going with skinny black ripped jeans and a tan v-neck t-shirt with his usual black combat boots. He wears his silver chain and a couple rings on his fingers because why the fuck not.
The blonde ends up putting in a chain for his left lobe, which connects up to another piercing in the auricle at the back of his ear, and a simple bead on top of that one, plus a diamond in the daith. In his right ear he just hung a cross from the lobe. He has three piercings on his right ear, but today he decided to leave most of them empty.
Shitty Hair likes to say he has a ‘eboy aesthetic’ whatever the fuck that means. (Katsuki knows what it means; he'd just never admit it. He likes to think he’s more alternative, thank you very much.)
The look is simple, at least for him, but it works. He hastily grabs his keys, phone, and wallet before walking out the door of his apartment.
He knows the route to the tattoo and piercing place pretty well by now, since he’s a frequent customer. His first visit was to get his first and favorite tattoo, now one of ten. It’s one of his more detailed ones - a colored snake tattoo on his left forearm. It has extraordinary attention to detail, which is probably what makes it so sick.
He had gone in with Shitty hair and demanded the best tattoo artist they had on sight; because only the best for Bakugou Katsuki. The woman behind the counter barked a laugh, said she liked his spunk or some shit like that and took Katsuki to the back. He found out her name was Camie, and she's the only person he has ever let work on him since.
He and Camie had a sort of easygoing friendship. She made fun of him just as much as he did her, but in a more laid back way. She acted a little dumb, and like she didnt have a care in the world, but she was actually attentive and didn’t take anyone’s shit lying down. Katsuki respected that.
He fully planned on having the same routine when he walked into the tattoo parlor on that fateful Saturday morning. But it didn’t really go as planned.
He opened up the door, ignoring the way the bell jingled obnoxiously and went right up to the front. Almost everything about the place was black, from the walls to the furniture. The decor was mostly muted tones and worked nicely with the checkerboard floor tiles. Most of the color in the decoration came from the graffiti like design on the walls in neon colors. It was like a mural of spray paint.
Noticing it was empty, he rapped his knuckles on the counter impatiently and waited until someone came out. The first thing he saw was a girl, short brown hair tied up into a high bun, leaving curtain bangs out to frame her face. She wore a black tank top and denim shorts that were frayed at the edges, likely by design. Katsuki, who couldn’t be bothered to get her name, labelled her pink cheeks.
“I’m looking for Camie,” he said, getting straight to the point. He made sure to glare, harshly enough to know he meant business, but not enough to scare her. She met his glare head on, not even flinching. “Camie’s not in today. We have someone else,” the girl turned around towards the door she just came from and called out, “Izuku!” before tapping her manicured nails on the glass countertop as she waited.
To be completely honest, Katsuki didn’t give a fuck who Izuku was. He only goes with Camie, that’s his rule. He doesn’t change because he doesn’t like change. A new person has more of a chance of screwing it up. Just as he’s about to walk out the door he looks up to see-
Fucking- holy shit.
Izuku turns out to be the hottest guy Katsuki has ever laid eyes on, and now he definitely fucking cares. He has tousled dark green, almost black curls styled in an undercut with matching viridian eyes and freckles. A sharp jawline draws Katsuki in and the round framed glasses resting on his nose complete the look.
The man is wearing denim ripped jeans and dark blue flannel over an ugly graphic tee that literally says pants . Katsuki is willing to overlook the complete fashion disaster that is that t-shirt however, because the guy rolls up his sleeves to reveal toned forearms and Katsuki wants to die, jesus fucking christ.
He wrings his hands together and pushes his glasses up his nose with a small smile and great now he’s hot and fucking adorable. How can someone be those two things simultaneously?
“Hi!” Izuku says, dragging Katsuki out his full blown gay panic with way too much enthusiasm for ten am on a Saturday morning. Katsuki finds it endearing. Curse his stupid little gay heart. “Are you looking for a tattoo or a piercing?” Katsuki blanks, trying desperately to remember what he came for other than Izuku’s soft, fluffy curls, beautiful green eyes--
“Uh- I, uhm,” Katsuki struggles for words. The brown haired girl looks between the two of them and snorts, which, fuck her to be honest. Izuku is looking at Katsuki with his brows pinched and his head tilted in confusion and it makes Katsuki want to die because this doesn’t happen. The blonde doesn’t get embarrassed and he certainly doesn’t embarrass himself. Shit, what is it about this man that makes Katsuki feel this way?
Katsuki doesn’t have any feelings except anger ninety percent of the time.
He takes a deep breath and gets a hold on his words because he needs to fix this before he embarrasses himself further. That or crawl into a hole and fucking die. Either option works.
“Tongue piercing,” he says the first thing that comes to mind, voice husky, and internally pats himself on the back for being able to speak japanese again. He coughs, ignoring the far too amused look in the girl’s eye. As he said before, fuck pink cheeks.
Izuku clears his throat, sporting a faint pink tinge to his cheeks and says, “G-Great! Follow me!”, so Katsuki will take it as a win. All he has to do is win the guy over, completely easy, no big deal. Yeah. He’s got this. He’s Bakugou Katsuki, of course he’s got this.
He smirks, confident in his ability to take control of the situation, and follows Izuku to the back of the shop and into his own room. When he steps in the first thing he notices is that the walls are decorated mostly with spray paint art, similar to the lobby. Except, instead of graffitti like designs, this room's walls are covered with random drawings of miscellaneous things like super heroes, plants, and doodles. Over to his left, Katsuki notices that a lot of the spaces on the walls are uncovered, and there are a couple spray paint canisters on the floor. It comes to Katsuki suddenly that Izuku was probably the one to decorate the lobby, seeing how the design is so similar.
Izuku must notice him admiring the walls, because he smiles shyly when he next speaks, and his smile is fucking beautiful. “We have a tradition where we decorate our work rooms, but I couldn’t think of anything, so I usually let people I work on add to the walls after their appointments. You can if you want to…?” Izuku trails off at the end, rubbing the back of his neck bashfully.
Katsuki looks at him and studies him intently, drinking in the sight of all that is Izuku. He notices some small tattoos on Izuku’s forearms , toned forearms that are still exposed, fuck. Katsuki is so gay. This is an issue. The blonde must be staring for a little too long without saying anything, because Izuku turns a deeper shade of pink under his gaze and clears his throat awkwardly, as if waiting for an answer.
Then Katsuki remembers that he is waiting for an answer and nods his head. Noticing the blush overtaking Izuku, Katsuki holds eye contact as he grins again, letting a hint of pearly white teeth show through. Izuku’s breath hitches just the slightest bit and Katsuki’s grin gets just a little bit wider, but he otherwise doesn’t acknowledge it.
He moves to the center of the room and sits on the chair, waiting patiently for Izuku to come over and sit on the stool. “My name is Katsuki, by the way,” he mentions because he forgot to tell the pretty boy his name. Izuku nods and sits, seeming a little flustered from the proximity and Katsuki takes it as a win.
Izuku doesn’t say anything as he snaps on a fresh pair of black latex gloves. Katsuki watches as they slide on to cover the tattoo on his middle finger. Katsuki, not one to miss his chance, decides to make conversation. “You like superheroes?” He looks around, noticing a full wall dedicated to comic book heroes. Katsuki would never admit out loud that he recognizes all of them.
Izuku smiles a bit, looking embarrassed. “Yeah, that was the one wall I could design.” He moves over to the sink and starts pouring a blue liquid into a small cup.
“My favorite’s All Might,” Katsuki blurted, and wow, look at that, looks like he’s doing a bunch of things he never would do before today, before fucking Izuku. For the second time, curse his shitty gay heart.
It’s all worth it though when he sees Izuku turn around and smile at him, big and genuine like the fucking sun. It makes a light pink tinge Katsuki’s cheeks, and he curses himself internally for going all soft for a god damn smile. Izuku bounces back to him excitedly, “Me too! He’s like my favorite hero from the series! No, he is definitely my favorite hero. Probably a tie with Eraserhead or Hawks because all of them are lowkey overpowered and so cool...:”
He then proceeds to dissolve into a mess of unintelligible mutters that Katsuki can just barely discern. Katsuki finds himself oddly endeared by the rambling. Kami, he’s disgusting for feeling so much in the span of five minutes. Suddenly, Izuku slaps a hand over his mouth and turns bright red in embarrassment. He kind of looks like a strawberry with the red face and freckles. Katsuki thinks it’s adorable.
Fuck, he’s down bad.
“I am so sorry, oh my god. Sometimes I tend to just go off on a tangent and never stop,” he holds out the cup to Katsuki, “Anyways, here! Swish this around your mouth and then spit it into the sink over there.”
“‘S fine,” the blonde says, and after a pause he mumbles, “It’s cute.”
“What?!” Izuku squeaks, turning bright red again, and the blonde smirks triumphantly.
“Nothin’” Katsuki replies and he stands as the green haired male sits on the stool, hurriedly following the directions. He normally would never tolerate someone telling him what to do, but Izuku seems to have some kind of weird effect on him. Honestly, he would probably jump off a cliff if Izuku asked him too.
Ugh, why did he just think that. Feelings are fucking gross.
Once he sits back down on the chair, Izuku scoots forward a bit on his stool. “Uh- I need your...eh- I need your t-tongue.” The shorter man mumbles awkwardly, still rather red.
Katsuki, planning on winning this (very one-sided) game they're playing, makes a show of flicking his tongue across his teeth and flashing his canines. He licks his lips as he flicks his tongue out, and has to hold back a snicker at the way Izuku’s eyes track every movement.
Izuku looks back up at him and Katsuki holds eye contact. He finds himself unable to look away from those deep viridian irises, mesmerizing him. It’s tense as they both stare at each other, faces barely a few inches apart. Then Izuku looks away, coughing a little and grabbing Katsuki’s tongue, holding it steady and checking for extra webbing or a vein that would make him ineligible for the piercing. When he doesn’t find what he’s looking for, he grabs his marker and marks the placement on Katsuki’s tongue.
Meanwhile, the blonde is internally patting himself on the back for the ingenious idea of a tongue piercing, if only for the reason that he gets to be this close to Izuku. Katsuki takes his eyes off of Izuku’s face for a second, noticing a small tattoo of a rose on the side of his neck. He stares for an abnormally long moment before snapping back to Izuku’s eyes when he starts to speak.
“I’m gonna put the clamp on now, sorry if it’s a bit uncomfortable.” he mumbles, more to himself than Katsuki as he fumbles for the tool on the side table. When he does eventually pick it up, he clamps it down gently onto Katsuki’s tongue, and picks up the freshly sanitized needle as well.
“I’ll do it on three,” he announces, lining up the needle with the mark he made. Izuku’s brows furrowed in concentration as he stared intently at the needle. He looks hot as fuck, but who is Katsuki kidding, that’s one of three coherent thoughts he’s had since he laid eyes on the literal green angel.
“One…Two…”
Katsuki braces for the pain as Izuku hits three, pleasantly surprised to find it barely hurts at all, and he doesn’t even flinch. He keeps his eyes on Izuku the entire time, even as the piercer gently removes the needle and adds the ball decal, finishing off his work.
Izuku looks up again and holds eye contact for all of three seconds before blushing for the umpteenth time and turning away, grabbing a mirror and handing it to Katsuki. He smiles gently at him, which almost makes Katsuki’s heart melt. He’s ashamed to admit that, even to himself. “What do you think?” he asks, as Katsuki inspects his work.
It’s done just as well, if not better than Camie does it, but maybe he’s just biased because it’s Izuku. “Looks fucking awesome,” he answers honestly as he not-so-subtly licks his lips, and (he’s embarrassed to admit it) preens when Izuku watches with a sort of hunger in his eyes.
He leans over and puts the mirror back on the side table, and finds his face inches away from Izuku’s. They hold eye contact for what feels like forever, and then Izuku’s eyes flick briefly down to his lips.
And then Katsuki murmurs, “Fuck it,” and he kisses him.
And then it’s all a blur because Izuku kisses him back, and he knows they probably shouldn’t be doing this in his workplace, but katsuki honestly does not give a fuck because he’s kissing the hottest man alive god damn it, and he’s gonna savour it.
Izuku’s lips are soft and plump and the kiss is gentle, and then Katsuki slides his tongue in the other man’s mouth, and it hurts a bit with the fresh piercing but he really doesn’t give two shits about it because it’s Izuku.
Aforementioned angel pulls away first for air and Katsuki is met with the sight of the greenette with slightly swollen lips and pink cheeks, and he looks so fucking pretty there. Then Katsuki grabs him and pulls him into another kiss, this time so Izuku is straddling his lap as one hand cups Katsuki’s cheek and the other behind his neck. The blonde moves his hands to wrap around Izuku’s waist, feeling toned abs underneath the layers of clothing.
The second kiss is just as good as the first, but this time less gentle and more passionate and hungry. Izuku’s tongue slips into Katsuki’s mouth, rubbing against the cold metal ball and making him shiver. Katsuki lets a soft moan escape his lips and this seems to snap Izuku back to reality as he pulls away, leaving his arms draped around Katsuki’s neck and breathing heavily.
“Wait, w-we. We can’t do this here,” he says, sounding breathless and airy. He doesn’t make any move to get up though.
Katsuki grins and chuckles lightly before shifting his position a little to pull his phone out of back pocket. He’s a gentleman, he can respect another person’s workplace. (even if said workplace is being a cockblock) “Gimme your number then,” and then after a pause, “So I can take you on a real date.”
Izuku smiles, small but genuine, and so, so beautiful. He grabs the phone and enters his number, still straddling Katsuki’s lap, and texts himself. They both listen for the responding ding from his phone over on the counter before Izuku is handing it back to Katsuki.
Katsuki, who is currently on Cloud Nine. Eventually, Izuku climbs off of him, face suddenly very red as he takes off his gloves and throws them away. Katsuki stands and stretches, looking around. His eyes land on a free space on the wall and his grin turns into a smirk as he stalks over, on a mission.
He quickly gets to work with the red spray paint, angling his body so Izuku can’t see what he’s adding, but still acutely aware of Izuku’s eyes on him all the same. He grins under the attention. When he’s finished he stands and walks over to the door.
“I’ll text you,” he says before stepping out and closing the door behind him.
Izuku stares at the doodle, a heart with an arrow through it and K + I in the center in bright red spray paint. It’s cheesy, sure, but he loves it all the same. Izuku stares at it, face bright red and a giddy smile overtaking his features.
And if he stares at it for an extra twenty minutes after that, no one will know except him and his rapidly beating heart.
