(re)imagine me and you

Summary:

“What is it?” Waverly asked, a big smile growing in her face at the sound of the redhead’s laugh.
“Sorry,” Nicole snapped out of her daze “Just got lost in thoughts for a minute there.”

Chapter Text

“Maybe I should just stop talking.” Waverly said, staring deeply into Nicole’s eyes

“See?” The cop answered, rolling her hands around the other woman’s scarf “You’re getting better at this already.”

Nicole pulled Waverly closer by her scarf, longing to feel the brunette’s lips against hers

“Maybe you should stop talking too.” Waverly remarked, a little bit nervous, but also looking forward to whatever it was that was about to come.

“Maybe you should make me.” Nicole remarked, smoothly.

Waverly stared at Nicole for a couple more seconds before holding the redhead’s face and leaning forward, enclosing the already minimal distance between their lips. Nicole was quick to flip their situation around, holding the smaller woman by her back and leaning forward until she was the one on top. She grabbed Waverly’s leg trying to bring her impossibly closer to her and then ran her hands through Waverly’s side, while she pulled her closer with a hand on the back of her shoulders. They parted for air really quickly, Nicole placing her hand on W averly’s lips and quickly bringing it to her chin to pull her into another kiss.

----

Nicole parted their lips, her hand settling on Waverly’s neck while her thumb mindlessly ran through her jawline. She looked at her with sheer adoration, before trying to control her looks a little bit so that she wouldn’t scare the smaller woman away. It might had been a small amount of time that she’d spent actually invested in Waverly, maybe only a few weeks, but she could somehow sense that that woman was going to be an important part of her life; maybe it was just hope, she thought to herself, but, whatever it was, she would cling onto it with all the strength she had. Therefore, scaring her away with just her looks after what had been their first kiss wasn’t really in her plans.

Their first kiss. That was actually happening. And what a first kiss , Nicole thought, making herself chuckle lightly.

“What is it?” Waverly asked, a big smile growing in her face at the sound of the redhead’s laugh.

“Sorry,” Nicole snapped out of her daze “Just got lost in thoughts for a minute there.”

“Maybe we shouldn’t be thinking at all.” Waverly attempted to flirt while slightly tightening her hold on Nicole’s braid, but her nervousness bled through her eyes. Everything was still very new to her and she was still getting around with feeling comfortable with everything.

Nicole could see the brunette was nervous and for a minute she was torn between addressing it or just pretending she couldn’t sense it. She pondered what would be less awkward, but then figured that what truly mattered was that they both felt comfortable. The deputy just wasn’t quite ready for all that to end, so she tried to find an option that would allow her to carry on with their… activities, but in a way that they’d both be fully comfortable.

“Is that what you really want?” She said still in a flirtatious tone, but trying to let the other woman know that she’d be okay if she wanted to stop there.

Waverly sighed very lightly, both trying to get rid of her remaining nervousness and in relief for understanding what Nicole meant with that.

“Yes.” She said, her gaze drifting between the redhead’s eyes and lips.

“Okay.” Nicole whispered, sustaining their gaze for a couple more seconds before capturing the brunette’s lips on her own again.

There wasn’t a way to describe how she was feeling at that moment, Nicole thought to herself. She had longed to feel those lips on hers for what felt like an eternity, even though she knew it couldn’t have been more than a few weeks... or maybe months, but all the wait didn’t seem to matter anymore.

Nicole thought she’d been in love before, but with just that simple (or maybe not so simple) kiss, Waverly made her feel things she’d never felt before. Sure she’d felt butterflies in her stomach before, but at that moment those weren’t just butterflies; she felt like there was a whole flock of hummingbirds flapping their wings frantically inside her, and when the tiny woman beneath her did as little as shuffle her fingers through her hair, she swore she could hear them sing too.

Waverly felt all that emotion being poured into their kiss and, to her own surprise, she didn’t feel overwhelmed, everything just seemed right about that moment. A small part of her was scared that maybe that’s not what she really wanted, but those worries faded away right after she looked Nicole in the eyes after she pushed her down on the couch. And then she just heard her ramble… God, that must have sounded nonsensical , Waverly thought, cringing a little; but Nicole sat through it and heard it, looking at her with those soft big brown eyes. Waverly just felt so seen and understood, she’d never felt that way before.

Both women had their individual thought bubbles around them, but they were acutely aware of each other. Of the other’s presence, of the other’s warmth against their bodies, of the other’s hands gently drifting through each other, of the other’s lips finally touching theirs. That was, of course, until they heard a faint voice coming from the hallway.

The pair instantly jumped apart, Waverly sitting down and kind of forcing Nicole off of her because of their previous position. The redhead just stood up as fast as she could and started walking towards the sheriff’s desk, but they soon heard the voice fading away. Nicole knew it was probably just another cop walking through the hallway, but she also knew they weren’t really in a position to get caught. After all, she was still at work.

She heard Waverly clearing her throat before falling into a fit of laughter, leaving Nicole confused, to say the least.

“Is… Is everything alright?” She asked hesitantly and for some reason she thought was probably nervousness, joining Waverly with her own laugh.

“Yeah,” Waverly answered with a big smile, still not really looking anywhere in specific “I’m just… I’m not really used to going after the things I want and I-” She cut herself huffing a small breath “I like it, it feels good.” She completed her thought process feeling a little bit more confident.

“Maybe you should do it more often, then.” Nicole smiled, with just a hint of a flirtatious tone.

“Oh, I will.” Waverly drifted her eyes to Nicole, smirking slightly.

“Maybe you should do it again… Friday night?” Nicole added smoothly.

“I’d like that, yeah.” Waverly nodded.

She got up from the couch and walked towards the taller woman, stopping when their faces were mere inches apart. She just stood there, looking at Nicole with a big smile, for a few seconds and then she once again gathered the courage to bring her hands up to her cheek, holding her face and leaning in for a softer, shorter kiss.

“I should really get to work, though.” Nicole said once they parted, hating to end their moment.

Waverly stepped back a little.

“Oh, sure,” She said blushing slightly “Sorry for interrupting you that way.”

“I think we both know I really didn’t mind.” It was now Nicole’s turn to smirk.

Waverly blushed harder before nodding and turning her back to leave the room. Once she reached the door frame, she used it as a spot to turn around.

“Friday night.” She reinforced the other woman’s previous statement.

“Friday night.” Nicole assured her with a nod, watching Waverly leave the room.
