Work Text:

The blackness of the room made it hard to be able to see anything, filling George’s eyes with nothing and leaving his head to flow with the millions of thoughts racing through his mind. Today had been a long and exhausting day, to filming upcoming videos for his YouTube channel, streaming on twitch with his friends who were close but so so far away, going out with his best friend and boyfriend Dream.

Despite all this, poor George was unable to fall into slumber. The soft sounds of the fan continuously whirring in the background wasn’t usually this annoying, but George found himself irritated by the smallest things.

Switching sides once more, George lazily reached his hand out to his phone which was on charge on the bedside table… The sudden brightness seemed to light up the room, showing outlines of the pieces of furniture placed in the room. George squinted his eyes, letting them adjust before taking a glance at the time. 3am.

Huffing out of annoying of how many hours it would be until he could get up, George turned around again trying his hardest not to wake up the sleeping man next to him. Envy was growing inside as he watched Dream able to sleep without a worry in the world, while George was laying here overloaded with thoughts.

Not thinking about his next actions, George let out a small whisper tugging at the other’s shirt lightly in order to wake him up. “Dream.” No response. “Dreammm” Small shuffles were emitted alarming George. “What George.” Dream sounded slightly annoyed, but he would never be mad at George. It must have been a good reason to wake Dream up at this time.

“I can’t sleep, my mind is running at 100 miles per hour.” George replied. It took a few seconds for the words to register in the other’s mind, making George regret waking Dream up at all. “Come here bub.” That was not the reaction that George was expecting at all, all his nerves were immediately calmed down and to the back of his head. Shuffling closer, Dream moved his arms and wrapped his arms protectively around the small man.

On the verge of crying, George mustered out “Sorry for waking you up.” Sounding apologetic, the words almost too quiet for Dream to hear. He leaned down and kissed George on the head softly “Don’t be sorry George, you know I’m here for you. It’s okay. Now try go to sleep, okay? I’m right here if you need anything.” George felt better as soon as he was in Dream’s arms, his eyes now feeling droopy and threatening to close any second. Feeling so protected soothed George’s mind, most of his thoughts disappearing left to be solved another day. “Thankyou.” Were the last words that were shared between the two before they both drifted off into a deep sleep.
