Work Text:

The door creaked with a homely note as you pushed it open. Shaking off your boots and removing them in the foyer, you kicked the door closed. The warmth from the house enveloped your cold face, a welcome change from the harsh winter conditions outside. As you worked your way into the house, the scent of old wood and fresh bread became more and more apparent. Upon reaching the table in the dining room, you placed your worn leather bag down, full of new fabrics and trims for your lover, as well as a few indulgences for yourself. A blush finds itself dusted across your cheeks as the thought of your partner crosses your mind- oh how happy she will be to receive the new materials! Almost as if you had called for her with your thoughts, the telltale sound of the elevator’s low purr filled the air, along with the giggles of a certain girl of porcelain.

“Y/N is home! Y/N is home!” sang the doll, her shrill voice echoing down the halls. The light scamper of wooden feet on the floor grew ever louder until the door to the hallway clicked open.

“Good evening Angie, how have you been today?” you ask gently as she floats up to stand on the table.

“Good! We’ve just been working in the workshop. You look terrible, where’d you go?” Angie discordantly replies. You laugh in response.

“Angie, that was not nice.” a woman in black has appeared in the doorway, her hands folded neatly at her stomach, a thumb rubbing absentmindedly over her hand. She makes three long strides to the table, picking up Angie and setting her to stand on the floor.

“Well, I was telling the truth! Oh well, I’ll leave you two lovebirds to it.” she giggles, floating into the foyer.

“Hello my darling belladonna,” you smoothly envelop Donna into an embrace, her arms mutually sneaking around you, “I have missed you so.”

Donna hums lovingly in reply, slightly rocking the both of you to an inaudible beat. “I’m glad you have returned.” You smile, slowly removing yourself from her.

“I am truly sorry for taking so long dear, but I have brought you some gifts as compensation,” you speak over your shoulder as you dig through your bag to find the materials for Donna. You revel in the soft sensations of velvet and brocade swatches against your hands as you pull them out to hand over. You gently place the stack of fabric into Donna’s hands, watching as she lightly runs her fingertips over them.

“These are absolutely lovely, thank you so much!” her excitement shows in the slight raise of her voice. She lifts her veil ever so slightly so as to press a sweet kiss to your cheek. “Truly, thank you.”

“Of course, I do so love bringing you things, belladonna,” you smile warmly, “I have also brought some things for dinner- fresh garlic and cream from town.”

Donna nods, tucking the fabrics underneath her arm, “I am going to put these downstairs, I will be right back.” You nod in reply. As she disappears yet again down the hallway, you sigh and smile to yourself. You do so love that woman.
