Chapter Text
"Babe! You home?" Marjan shouts as she enters the seemingly empty apartment. Hearing no reply, she makes her way to the bedroom. The door is cracked slightly. She peeks her head in and sees Nancy lying in bed, holding the comforter the same way she holds Marjan. She can’t help but smile to herself. She can hear Nancy’s music playing in her AirPods. I Bet on Losing Dogs by Mitski. She grabs Nancy’s phone off the bed and pauses the music, then lies down next to her. The weight of Marjan’s body lying in bed wakes up Nancy.
"Hey…I didn’t know you were home." Nancy says as she pulls out her AirPods.
"I just got home. I didn’t mean to wake you up." She says.
"I didn’t even realize I fell asleep. How was lunch?"
"It was good. Mateo and Paul say hi."
"Where’d you guys go?"
"We went to the Chinese place down the street from the station."
"Was it good?"
"It was so good. I’ll have to take you there some time."
"I’d love that."
"Oh! I was gonna tell you. I brought you something."
"What’d you bring?" Nancy ask. Marjan reaches into her pocket and pulls out three small slips of paper, then hands then to Nancy. Her face lights up as she realizes what she’s being given.
"Wow! Thanks babe!" She exclaims, and kisses Marjan on the head. Marjan smiles to herself as she watches Nancy read the fortunes she had taken from the boys. She always thought it was so cute how excited Nancy got over them. Marjan didn’t quite understand it, but it wasn’t hurting anyone, so why not feed the addiction?
"These are cute! Thank you baby." She says. She slides them into her nightstand drawer, and turns to Marjan and kisses her again.
"You are so adorable." Marjan says. Nancy smiles.
"You always get the good fortunes. Every damn time. I’m kinda jealous."
"Don’t be. You can have them all."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
