Written after the release of DH, not only is this a remix but it was written by xylodemon herself, the author of the original. It’s interesting to see the changes she made, the things that remained and how her writing evolved over the years.
I’m not sure which version I like the most and I doubt it even matters, since both are great character studies and responses to different books. I think they work because Regulus is so interesting: he was the last heir to the house of Black, Sirius’ little brother, a Death Eater who betrayed Voldemort and stole a Horcrux… and yet we know so little of him as a person.
If anything, I think this remix is even more brutal than the original.
