Summary
The rain beats down on the world outside Gaffney Chicago Med, which, in many ways, often feels like its own small, separate world to Sarah, as she looks up at the overcast sky and then at her wrist watch.
A quarter past four in the afternoon, which meant she had well and truly missed her bus.
The next bus would come at five, a whole forty-five minute wait, something she really didn’t want to do out in this weather. She also, as selfish as it might sound, didn’t want to head back into the hospital as that would mean heading back through the ED and she really didn’t want to be roped into another shift right now.
