Nothing hurts more than finding out your best friend has pretended to like you from the moment you two met, especially if that friend was your lover.
Oikawa walked out of the locker room with Kunimi and Kyoutani. It may be a shocker but Kyoutani actually loved hanging out with Oikawa, especially since his parents were hardly home, meaning Oikawa was the closest thing to an actual family he had. Oikawa saw him when he was an 8th grader, the day was dark. He was crying in a park because his parents announced that they were leaving without him, so Oikawa saw him and brought him home. To this day Oikawa’s family still lets him stay there, he even has his own room!
Kunimi was a 1st year who had trouble making friends. Oikawa taught him the ways of how to be recognized and he also joined the volleyball team. He was being tutored by Oikawa in subjects he had trouble with, but especially in volleyball. They stayed after practice to help him climb the ladder and eventually become as great as possible.
Sure it was surprising to the team on how Iwaizumi hardly gave Oikawa affection, but it was even more of a shocker when it was announced they were dating. At first they thought it was a prank until Iwaizumi accidentally texted the gc thinking it was Oikawa. One thing never changed though, the amount of affection shown. The nicknames, teasing, and yelling stayed the same, sure it hurt Oikawa, but as long as Iwaizumi was happy.
Oikawa opened the gym door but was shushed by Kyoutani, “I hear something,” he said. Oikawa paused before pressing his ear to the door along with the other two. There were four voices, he instantly recognized one. Iwaizumi.
“Do you even like him?” Matsun said. Ouch.
“Well-” Iwaizumi began. Kunimi’s eyes narrowed, it should’ve been an instant yes , he thought to himself. “Um..”
“You don't even know! See, now answer this, wouldn't we do better without him?” Kindachi asked. Kyoutani huffed before patting Oikawa’s back.
“I really-” Iwaizumi began
“He was the reason we lost so many times last year.” Makki pointed out. There could be small hmms of agreement behind the door.
“Okay...maybe I do- BUT that doesn't mean we can get rid of him!” Iwaizumi pointed out. Second Ouch.
“Just because he’s captain doesn't mean he can't be kicked off.” Kindachi added.
“Maybe with the help of photo editing…” Makki said smugly. Oikawa blinked back tears before removing himself from the door, followed by his friends.
“Tell the coach I won't be here today, I’ll see you at home Kyo!” Oikawa said with a smile on his face.
“Wait- where are you going?” Kyotani asked. Kunimi nodded.
“...with an old friend.” Oikawa answered. Kyotani knew what he meant by that, and with that Oikawa left.
“What should we do?” Kunimi asked, kind of worried. Kyoutani sighed before responding.
“We let Oikawa do what he wants. It’s not our place to confront them, but let them worry. I wanna see them suffer.” Kyoutani said, the last part with a scowl visible. Kunimi smiled before doing his handshake with Kyotani.

Oikawa sighed as he left the school campus. What makki said was true, his knee injury was from last year meaning his tolerance for it was low. This year it was a lot higher and even though his doctors scolded him for it, he played through the pain making it worse. Iwaizumi even told him off for playing through the pain.
The brunette arrived at the coffee shop and saw a familiar blonde with his boyfriend, Sakusa Kiyoomi and Atsumu Miya. He began walking over to the couple and sat down in front of them, “Hey Tsumu!” Oikawa exclaimed happily. Astumu’s face lit up.
“I'm here too,” Sakusa said, glaring at him. Oikawa giggled before smiling.
“Sorry about that,” Oikawa said. “Just excited to see Tsumubabe, since ya know... you’re closer to Iwaizumi.'' Sakusa lifted an eyebrow in confusion.
“Did something happen between you two?” Sakusa asked. Astumu nodded and Oikawa just sighed before playing with the straw in his drink that Atsumu had gotten him earlier. He lowered his head before responding to Sakusa.
“Full story or shortened?” Oikawa asked. Atsumu looked at Sakusa before decided they wanted the full story.
“The full story.”
“..alright” Oikawa began before taking a sip. “I was with Kyo and Kunimi walking to the gym. As I was opening the door Kyo pulled me back and shushed me. We put our ears against the door and heard Iwa-chan, Kindachi, Makki, and Mattsun...um..” he ended his sentence pausing before beginning again. He laughed dryly as tears welled up in his eyes again, getting worried glances from the couple. “They were saying how I didn't deserve my spot.” Atsumu’s eyes widened
“Kawa-” Atsumu tried to say. It was gonna be something along the lines of ‘they don't know how special they are to have you on their team.’ Oikawa knew he was good, but his pride wasn't as high as people thought it would be. Oikawa just smiled.
“It’s fine Tsumu.” Oikawa reassured the blonde. Sakusa flashed a frown
“Oikawa, I know we aren't close like you said, but that environment isn’t healthy for you. Hell, if Inarzaki hadn't realized the words hurt him, I would’ve made him transfer to be with me. You should look into transferring, I’ve even heard Karasuno wanted you on their team.” Sakusa said, behind the germophia and scary looks, the guy was an actual softie. It was true, even Atsumu’s team treated him horribly, but they realized it before it got too bad because Sakusa lectured them.
“I know, I know...which is why I texted an old….friend? I don't know what to call him. I just- I know Iwa-ch- no Iwaizumi, doesnt love me anymore which is why I’ve been practicing calling him by his real name.” Oikawa explained. “On that note I should head home, it was a long drive and Kyo won't stop spamming me. See you soon” he added. The trio bid their goodbyes and Oikawa drove home.

Later that night Oikawa had tucked Kyotani in and was browsing his phone now. There was nothing new besides the normal, fangirls flooding his dm’s and the hate messages from their boyfriends. Oh, I almost forgot! Oikawa thought to himself. He opened the ‘messages’ app and scrolled down to Ushijima Wakatoshi’s contact.

Hey Ushijima. I'm sorry for this text,
It's late at night. Respond when you can please.
Nearly 5 minute later Oikawa heard a ding from his phone.
Ushijima
Hello Oikawa, I don’t mind the late
night texts. I’m sorry I took long, Satori
almost burnt the gym down. Did you need something?
Oikawa
Lmao, no worries, I was watering the plants.
I wanted to know if the offer was still up.

Yep :)

I say expect a new student soon.
Though I might need a tour, you up for it?

I’d rather not talk about it. So can I swing
