Ruby spends eons walking through stars and space. She traverses time as if it’s land beneath her feet. She is ceaseless, unending, and unstoppable in her task. Alive she is a hero. She lives and dies by way of her heroic soul, but only one thing keeps her alive in each life, Weiss . Ruby is the wind, unchained and free, but she would be doomed to a short burst of life without her true anchor, and the world would be left to ruin. Life ends and begins in heroics, and each time Ruby is faced with pain as her life follows its relentless path. The gods place beside her happiness and restraint in the form of ice.
Weiss is solid and cold. She is a hero by necessity and choice. Noble to a fault, she doesn’t let her heart soar without reason. She is a pillar of determination and restraint, but she is frozen in place without her wings. Like the ice, she embodies she is the wall that stops armies and war, but she is doomed to die cold and alone without Ruby . Ruby is what ignites her soul and gives her wings, the wind that lets her soar through the sky beside her beloved. The gods bestow Ruby to her as an offer of greatness, but together they’re beyond great.
Their first meeting is always rough and brittle, like bread left out too long. Rival sorcerers, waring queens, partners who clash and surge, but each time the fondness seeps through and they soften, warmed by love that neither could know traverses time and space as they do. Time wraps around them, a blanket of knowledge that unwraps as they pivot around fate.
Life is fleeting and shallow, but the gods place heroes in the face of demons who would seek to reduce the world to ash and dust. Ruby stands tall beside her fellow heroes, but Weiss holds her upright. Before them will arise a challenge, and together they will face it.
As life bleeds in and out, they twine themselves together. Red and blue souls that wrap and glow.
A dragon of terrible size looms over the small kingdom of Beacon. The king has called upon heroes worldwide to end the beast’s reign. That is when Ruby meets Weiss. Their meeting is a disaster, with the energetic wind elemental nearly destroying the tavern they’re all set to meet at with excitement. Weiss is seated in the back corner surrounded by books when they whirl about scattering parchment and notes around the inn, and at one point smacking her directly in the face. Frantically, Ruby apologizes, but Weiss is bitter and acrid as she stands.
“How could an idiot such as you ever hope to serve King Ozpin with so little control of her powers!”
It doesn’t take long for their fondness to spread.
They fight, loud and boisterous, but eventually, they become less acidic and more playful. Dragons fall before them. Would-be usurpers kneel, and nature bends. Nothing can stand against them and the love they forge together.
When Ruby lets them, they retire. Always away from the rest of the world, in a cabin in the mountains, an island away at sea, or an abandoned city filled with monsters too cautious to threaten the lovers.
They live and they die, then they repeat. A musician and a manager, a cursed princess and a brave knight, a pair of huntresses prepared to die for their cause. Together they are constant, sure, and a force to be reckoned with.
Intrinsically they know each other, and they always will, whether they realize it or not.
