Taking slow and steady steps towards the small flower shop around the corner, George began to smile slightly. Dream had been in a sad mood all day, cuddling up to George and burying his head in his chest, days like these weren’t unusual for the couple but George thought Dream deserved something that might make him feel loved and appreciated. He would do anything to make Dream just the little bit happier, after all Dream had been amazing to George even before becoming a couple.
The small bell rung out slightly, making a high-pitched ding sound, as he pushed the wooden door open revealing greenery of all the assortment of plants displayed in bouquets. Even though George couldn’t even see half of the colours, it was still a beautiful sight. He imaged the Purple, Pinks, yellows and reds that many others would see, regretting not bringing his colourblind glasses with him.
An old man lifted his head up from writing in his notepad, smiling at the younger man. “Hello there.” He spoke. George walked towards the man at the counter, feet shuffling along to hard wood floor as he moved. “Hey, I was wondering if you could help me out with something?” George weakly asked, smiling back at the man in front of him. He found himself to be quite awkward around people he don’t know well, but he was getting better at this.
“Of course I can dear, what were you looking for?” George thought for a moment, not being that experienced with flowers at all and not having an idea of what he wanted. After a few seconds of silence, George thought of something. “Have you got any blue flowers at all?” The old man hummed lightly as he stepped behind the counter, and towards a few bouquets placed at the back of the store. George knew if he tried doing this himself he would probably end up buying purple flowers or something.
“These here are cornflowers, unfortunately the only blue flowers we have in store at the moment.” The man spoke, picking up the bunch to give George a better view. He immediately made the connection to Minecraft, and thought it was a good choice. “I will take them please.” They both walked back to the counter while George got the cash out his back pocket. Handing the notes to the man. “These for anyone special?”
“Yes, someone who is very special to me.” George replied, smiling to himself. The man handed him the flowers. “Keep the change.” He grabbed the flowers, beginning to make his way out the small shop. George made a mental note to come here in the future. “I bet whoever it is will love them.” The man said, George turned back around and smiled hoping what he said was true. “Thankyou, have a good day.”
The warm sun glowed up his pale skin as he walked out and began walking back home. The ding of the bell rang once more as he exited the shop. Hopefully this would make Dream in a better mood, that’s all George ever wanted… For Dream to be happy and feel wanted.
The walk home wasn’t far, only being outside the house for 15 minutes before returning home to his safe place. It wasn’t often that George left the house alone, which left a very surprised Dream on the couch, but didn’t question it. George stood outside the front door for a few seconds to arrange the flowers in his hand, placing them behind his back before turning the door handle and walking inside the significantly colder house.
Immediately after stepping inside, he was greeted by a small cat curling around his legs. George bent down to stroke Patches before Looking up, seeing a curled up Dream on the couch blankets wrapped around himself while watching a film he really didn’t seem interested in. “Dream, how are you feeling?” George asked, Dream turned around and looked at the brunet smiling slightly. “Better now that you are here, come cuddle.” Dream pouted.
George chuckled slightly, nerves settling in his stomach. He didn’t know why; this was Dream after all… And it was only some flowers. “I Actually uh… Have something for you.” George nervously stuttered out, Dream’s eyes showed confusion as he got off the couch for the first time that day, The blankets falling into a pile on the floor as they were discarded.
George smiled slightly before taking his hand behind his back, revealing the bright blue flowers that lit up the room instantly. Dream grinned as soon as he saw them and eyes widening. “Aww George you didn’t have to!” Dream’s tone of voice became so much happier, who knew such a simple gesture could make a person’s day so much more enjoyable. “I love you Dream, and appreciate you so much… Never forget that.”
“I love you too George, so much.” Dream walked over, bringing George into a warm embrace while kissing his head. The pair stayed there for a few seconds, simply enjoying the small moments like these. Dream stepped back while taking the flowers out of the other’s hands, taking them into the kitchen and placing them in a vase of the island counter.
Patches immediately leaped up onto the white counters, taking a liking to the flowers already.
“Look… It’s green and Blue, just like us George!” He hadn’t noticed it until Dream had pointed it out, but it made him giggle as he realised.
“I hope this made you feel a little better Dream, I hate when you are upset.”
“George, thank you. I love you more than you could ever imagine.” Dream brought George into a tight hug again, the warmth being shared between the two that were just so in love. Neither could imagine a life without the other. Moments like these were probably one of George’s favourites, it made him realise how much Dream actually meant to him. Both of them looked at each other before sharing another sweet kiss.
“I love you too.”
