The Morning Star

Summary:

A poem I wrote for a school final writing assignment about Lucifer leaving and Chloe reminiscing about their relationship.

Notes:

I did not tell my teacher this was about Lucifer so she thought it was about some loss, but oh well. I got 100% on this!

Work Text:

The Morning Star

I’m waiting at the corner we last saw each other
Where the sunsets stretched further than the horizon could carry
And the lights below us were sparkling forever

Where the breeze would make me shiver until I felt alone
I would hold myself in my arms for that sense of comfort you took away
You couldn’t stay here incessantly. I should’ve known

Every lost thought finds its way back to your name
Same familiar memories cross my mind whenever I pass the corner
When you spontaneously flew away, I almost thought you were playing a game

I’m calling your name every night to see if you’ll come back
But I hear you’re busy with paradisical obligations
However, many nights you’re gone, I never lose track

Where the silence was deafening, and the moonlight cast shadows
I would tell myself it was because I was supposed to be thinking of you
You couldn’t deal with this guilt, but it’s what you chose

Every small sparkle in the sky is probably not you and rather
You are the stormy waves in the sea that every sailor and captain avoid
I secretly hope that within this short time on Earth, we get our ever after

Too much time has passed. I try to erase you from my mind
The pictures won’t go away, almost as if they’re permanently ingrained
Is worthiness from me what you’re hoping to find?

Replace the scars with stars
Tonight, the world is ours
