Work Text:
Ten years ago, Harry introduced it to the block party, and since then, kids have made maybe thousands of trips over the sloping lawn, hoses wetting the Slip ‘N’ Slide while they run, jump, then soar to the end.
Ten years, and today’s the first time Harry’s been apprehensive. He has his reasons.
Ten years of Harry watching Louis run side by side with neighborhood kids, encouraging them. Today he races their little girl; she reaches the slide, dives headfirst, squealing the whole way down.
Standing beside him, her brother relaxes his grip on Harry’s hand. “I want a turn!”
