He doesnt know who closed the distance first.
When Xiao noticed, his lips were against Venti's. He spent the whole day thinking about how Venti lips were pretty, small and pink, almost heart shaped - or he was the one seeing a heart everywhere now?
And now, when they should be watching the lantern's rite festival, he actually got the chance of kissing him. He didnt knew how he became so lucky.
Venti was a free and kind hearted spirit. Xiao was aware his presence alone was enough to make people happy - to console their hearts with his beautiful music.
Xiao was, rightfully so in his mind, afraid of holding him too tight and hurting him with the same hands he used to hurt and kill everything else. But, at the same time, now that he had Venti in his hands, he couldnt let go.
His heart jumped in his chest, almost like it wanted to jump on Venti's lap. Xiao had no idea about what he was doing. He tasted a refreshing and very sweet flavour, that he couldnt describe or understand very well, but he kept chasing it in Venti's lips.
And Venti kissed him back.
Xiao wondered what he tasted like. If Venti could even like his taste back, since Xiao was completely enamored by his lips, by his skin, by his soul, by everything that belonged to Venti.
Shit, he fell so hard.
They pulled apart at the same time, while the lanterns floated in the air around them.Venti looked shocked for the first time since Xiao knew him, cheeks reddening intensely. His blue eyes shone in the night, just like his braids.
"Uh..." Xiao literally choked.
He never blushed in his life like he was blushing right now, way worse than Venti.
The kiss was gentle and innocent like a summer breeze, and still... Xiao felt terrified.
"I-I'm... Uh..." Xiao couldnt speak. He didnt knew why he was trying right now, since he never bothered to do it before. "I-I'm sorry??"
"No!" Venti exclaimed, surprising Xiao.
"No, no, don't say that! You don't need to apologize... Because... Because... I mean, I'm... Kinda glad you wanted to do it too? I-I mean!!"
Xiao blinked a few times.
"Really?"
"Don't ask me that!" Venti exclaimed again, his voice trembling in nervousness.
"Sorry!"
They both killed each other with this awful conversation.
After some time of awkward and heavy silence, Xiao heard Venti sighing. That was the first time ever. Confused Xiao looked back at him, being caught off guard when Venti laid his head on his shoulder.
His heart jumped again.
"They are beautiful." Venti said while looking at the night sky illuminated by paper lanterns.
Xiao could see that Venti still blushed a lot, especially his ears. He felt something very warm inside his chest, making him happy and satisfied even if he still was nervous and shy. He couldnt control it.
Actually, Xiao didnt want to control it anymore. "Yeah." Xiao muttered. "They are."
