<Chloé>

May 27, 2020

Moving like a bat out of hell, Chloé ran twin swords out. her blades, Kanshou and Bakuya, slashing through the horde of sentimonster like dolls like butter. Leaning back she barely dodged a spear before countering with Kanshou, follow it up by slashing Bakuya. Right before she could cut another one of Shadowmoth's doll-army, it stabbed her in her left side.

"Just need to….hold them off" Chloé panted, pain rushing through her left side as she  refuse to fall to a knee, "I-Is tha..t all you got?"  she spat out,  taking out the attacker, "Ridiculous utterly ridiculous! I'll take you all on!"

As she continued to fight, memories began to flash through her head.

The only exceptional thing about you, my dear… is your mother!

flipping backwards, the twenty year old dodged another attack, while still in the air she threw her swords decapitating two sentimonsters in the process. Landing with a thud she pulled out her bow. A doll flies at her with a flying kick only to gets sniped out of the air by her bow. She lunges forwards, leaping off the top of the heads of several sentimonsters and back into the fray. She lands on another drone full force allowing it to bring her to the ground, using it as a mount she skids across the ground on it all while she proceeds to shoot the surrounding sentimonsters that dared to get too close.

Chloé backflips off the drone, she kicks another. The other sentimonster dolls moving like wolves to attack her only to immediately fall as she released more arrows. Movement caught the corner of her eye as twisted her body, a great sword swung downwards towards her, forcing her to use her bow as a shield, has the blade cut through the weapon she throw punch at the dolls throat before spin kicking it.ThreeThree more attempt to pounce at her only for her slide out of the way from the first one grabs the second by the thoat and throw it to the third sending the pair straight into a wall.

You only love yourself!

Before she could react another doll rams into her back, sending her flying onto the floor, instinctively spun midfall slamming still toad boot into the drone.

You're a real "hero", Chloé

Jumping back onto her feet, she summons her swords once more and cutts one of the nearby sentimonsters heads off.

I have no daughter

Charging toward the crowd of sentimonsters, Chloé rolls into a slide, cutting their legs off before regaining her footing and charging toward another group of sentimonsters.

Traitor!

Chloé leaps past the sentimonsters but is clothlined by one near the back and is sent flying into a car. The taste of iron filled her mouth as she fell to the ground.

Murder!

Groaning, Chloé forced herself up, shards of glass from the car, falling off her body in the process as a crimson spear formed into her hand.

Worst then Hawkmoth!

Chloé pieces one of the sentimonsters with her spear. another rushes her, but is hit away along with the pierced drone. Two more rush her, easily she spun the spear blocking the first one strike as she slant her boots against the other twisting the spear, she impaled the first before stabbing the other.

why should I trust you?

Slamming her foot into the ground. Can't really to throw the spear as red energy began to engulf it, "Gáe Bulg!" She cried out as the spear from irish myth fully out of her hands.

Betrayer!

the spear be linedthethe closest sentis in front of her easily,  piercing the hearts of multiple of them before finally hitting the ground

killer

Pain suddenly engulfed Chloé's back as multiple projectiles hit her,  stopping herself from stumbling forward she Look over she shoulder her she noticed multiple sentimonsters firing arrows at her

monster

Fighting back a snarl, Chloé summon a knife strapped to a chain and throws it into one of the severed sentimonster drone heads. Using the head as a make shift flail, She twirls the head around, taking out several more sentimonsters, including the ones firing.

Why should I continue being friends with someone like you?

one of the sentimonsters throws a car directly at her, forcing her to drop the chained dagger, as she barely dodged in time.. She noticed a few more sentimonsters running at her.

You have no friends left, Chloé. And you'll never have any, ever again!

She uppercuts one and sends it flying into the air. She drops kicks another and sends it plowing through the other sentimonsters. She grabs one of the still falling ones by the legs and swings it around before letting it go and crash into the other sentimonsters.

you'll never be a hero!

Suddenly pain erupted across her body as blade stabs her from bshind,  piercing completely through her chest alongside one of her lungs, causing her to scream in pain as blood gushed out. She twirls around and knocks the head off the drone's shoulders. thethe vision in the corner of her eyes begin to tarken as she stumbles forward, breathing heavily. She glance at the last of the sentimonsters charging towards her.

I hate you!

Using the last bit of her failing strength, Chloé summons a western red and white sword with a length of ninety centimeters and a width of twelve centimeters, with Fairy Letters inscribed on it. She allowed herself a brief moment of pause as memories of a Knight with forest green eyes with a sharp tooth grin enter her mind. Pushing the pleasant memories away she allowed rage and hatred to fill her.

“M-my rage...f-fuels their blade, m-may my rebellious knight's sword... strike my enemy down Clarent…” shs began each word a struggle to say as Clarent roared to life as a massive blade of crimson lightning blasted from the blade's tip towards the sky, a pale imitation  compared to its rightful owners, " .....Blood Arthur!" Chloé yelled as she swung the sword down with all of her might.

let the REAL heroes handle this

She watched as the crimson light engulfed everything in front of her, burning the sentimonsters-like drones to a crisp.

someone like you could never be good

Once the crimson Light faded she  collapse onto her knees, breathing heavily. Glancing down towards the sword she noted it slowly fading away with her.

tears began to blur her vision, tears not of pain but... of joy. Joy that countless lives were saved because of her. The warm light of the freshly rising sun slowly creeps onto her,  warming her body as her vision begins to fade. she smiles as she collapses, taking her final breath.

"Are you ready to make good on your end of the deal?" Multiple voices ask Chloé as she opened her eyes.

"Yeah….." Chloé started as she stared at Alaya, Humanity collective unconscious will to live "I'm ready"

"Then let us begin, Counter Guardian"

Notes:

Right so at the time of this being made this is a one shot which I might make into a series in the future. The entity Chloé talks to at the end is Alaya form Fate

For non-Fate fans:
Alaya is the collective unconsciousness of mankind and the drive for its survival as a whole. Alaya constantly steers mankind away from extinction.

Usually Alaya interferes indirectly by guiding and empowering an individual to eliminate a threat. When indirect intervention is insufficient, Alaya will deploy the Counter Guardians.

Counter Guardians(what Chloé is now) are Spirits that work as Soldiers for Alaya. The deployment of Counter Guardians is by no means subtle, as the threat will be eliminated with the surroundings, inflicting much collateral damage.

'How long have I been doing this now?' Chloé wondered as she prepared her bow.

'20...30 centuries now?.....every battle, every kill just slowly blended together into one memory of endless death at this point,' "There you are you bastard", Chloé whispered as she eyed her target.

'Am I tired of this "life" yes, do I just want to rest also yes, do I regret accepting Alaya's offer?..... hell no,' Chloé fired her arrow towards the would-be doomsday bringer.

'I would accept Alaya's offer ten times over if it meant saving one of them....' Chloé thought as the prick's upper body exploded in a blue glow. "Just another day in the office" Chloé sighed as a familiar tingling feeling slowly golfed her body, she closed her eyes as her body faded away.

_______________

When Chloé opened her eyes again she was in the all too familiar sight of an open, barren desert. It is a kingdom of rubble littered with thousands, perhaps a countless number, of weapons anchored in the ground like grave markers in a wasteland, yet are well preserved.

"Home sweet home" the Counter Guardian sat against a large great sword. This is her little domain as it were, a realm filled with copies of every weapon she has touched, felt or saw during her time alive and as a Guardian.

Oh how she loves the time in between missions, sure she just sat staring off into her valley of weapons but hey you got to appreciate the "little" things and oh boy she certainly appreciated them. She wasn't entirely sure nor cared how or when this hobby of hers started. She just enjoys expanding her collection of weaponry hell it isn't like it's pointless either, more weapons make her job go faster especially with most of them having their own gimmick or two.

'it does suck I can't copy firearms,' Chloé thought thinking of all the possibilities of getting the job done faster with a gun. 'Now' she looked around 'which one of you lovelies should I 'read' today'

One of the things she's thankfully discovered in the early few months after first accepting Alaya's deal was the ability to analyze the history and abilities of any weapon she touched.

"Well done Counter Guardian," the all too familiar voices of Alaya rang from... well everywhere. "We have another similarity for you to take care of"

'Aaaand just like that we're back on the clock,' Chloé thought disappointingly as her eyes landed on the giant axe-sword belonging to Heracles.

"Understood"

"Egypt, 1300 BCE, the rabbit miraculous wielder, Alix kubdel is-"

"Wait kubdel? As in The Alix from my time?"

"Affirmative, Alix kubdel gained the rabbit miraculous 4 months,  3 weeks, 4 days and 12 hour after your death"

"Alix," Chloé mumbled in a low regretful tone. She recalled how the pink hair dyed girl treated her the same despite everything she had done.

"Counter Guardian?"

"Sorry, just remembering something, continue"

"Alix kubdel is killed by a group of bandits, the result of her death will not only lead to multiple unavoidable extinction level events but create a time paradox due to her still possessing the miraculous that will be given to her ancestors"

"So in other words search and rescue?"

"Affirmative,"

Knowing she would be spotted quickly if she were to wear her usual attire, she dematerializes her treasured red long coat in favor of a pale color cloak "I'm ready" Chloé claimed, before the tingling feeling returned slowly golfing her body, she closed her eyes as her body faded out of her home.

Chapter Text

Materializing into the world, The Counter Guardian shook her head and look around at sands that surrounded her. The desert, similar to her own, seems to go on for miles. feeling the needed knowledge of this era as well as Alix's location flood into her mind, she let out a sigh and began to walk north.

"At least this isn't a needle in a haystack,"

___________

'You would think basically "living" in a desert would have made it easier climbing this shit,' Chloé thought to herself as she reached the top of a sand dune.

Slowly glancing around, Chloé spotted what appeared to be sixteen Bandits attacking...

"Alix," Chloé whispered, watching Alix sucker punch one of them and then using an umbrella as a sword blocking another attack.

"Get her!" A bandit, likely the leader, yelled as Chloé summoned her bow.

Letting a small smirk appear on her face, she fired three arrows at the closest three before sliding down the dune.

"What!?!" One of them cried out shortly before being incapacitated by Alix slamming her umbrella into his gut, then head.

Right before she reached the bottom, the Counter guardian flung herself into the air before landing in front of Alix. Dematerializing her bow, she summoned her prized twin swords, Kanshou and Bakuya.

"Who's first?" Chloé asks, slightly spinning her blades before entering the combat stance.

"Kill the bitch!" one shouted as she ran towards the Counter Guardian with a lance.

Chloé moved out of the way of the first attack then stabbed the bandit in the chest with Kanshou. Pulling the sword out she hurled Bayukya like a boomerang decapitate another one.

"Big mistake Girly," a bandit with a pair of knives said, charging Chloé, not noticing Bayukya flying back towards Chloé.

"Ahh!" The bandit screamed as Bayukya landed right in the middle of his back.

"Fuck this!" A bandit shouted before running with the others quickly joining him.

With a slight chuckle, Chloé pulled Bayukya out of its landing place before facing Alix, "Who, what are you?" The rabbit miraculous holder demanded, holding her umbrella like a sword pointing at Chloé.

Confusion fills Chloé before realization hits her, 'I guess the side effects of using projection magic for so long finally have a good use,' Chloé thought, letting out a sigh of relief as she glanced at her reflection in her swords, noticing her slight tanner skin, gray eyes and pure white hair.

"I'm... just a simple woman making her way through the country,  May i ask who you are?" The heroic spirit explained,  earning a funny look from the hero.

"....Bunnix, You never gave your name"

"I didn't did I?" She chuckled, "The names.... Archer"

"Archer huh? Why did you help me?"

"It was the right thing to do," Chloé explained, dematerializing her swords.

Alix squint her eyes at her for a moment before slowly lowering her umbrella,

"Thanks... How did you do that thing, with the swords and bow?"

"Merely a trick I picked up over the years" Chloé vaguely answered, nearly a skeptic brow from the hero, "We should move, those Bandits will likely begin to regroup"

"We?"

"Yes, we. The close settlement for miles is the city of Abydos and it's a day's journey from here. It would be safer to stick together,"

"So that's where I am" Chloé heard Alix mumbled before speaking up. "alright, lead the way"

______________

As the two walked side by side across the endless stretch of desert, curiosity slowly filled Chloé as sheococcasionally glanced towards the blue clock on Alix's side.

"So" she began carefully, already scrambling for a plausible excuse as to how she even knew what a Miraculous was, "how did you get your hands on the miraculous?"

Alix’s head snapped toward her instantly, eyes wide in panic as she took a step back from her slightly taller companion. her grip tightening on her umbrella, "How did yo-" She started, but before she could finish, the sharp thunk of an arrow striking the sand between their feet cut.

Chloé look up at the directions the arrow came from, and spotted the surviving bandits from early running towards them. Alix pushing her concern aside instantly entered a combat stance as Chloé sighed.

"You think they would learn" Chloé muttered under her breath, her tone dripping with irritation. Without hesitation, she summoned her bow, and began to fire her arrows killing eight within seconds.

"You bitch!" one of the remaining bandits screamed, voice breaking with both fury and terror. He drew his own bow and fired wildly.

Before she can react the bandit’s arrow slammed into her right shoulder, embedding deep into muscle and bone.

"Fucking hell!" the Guardian roar out, more enraged at the fact that she allowed to the attack the hit her then any pain that could have occurred. Firing her arrow, she instantly killing the bandit, with ease she tore the arrow out of her arm and threw it onto the ground, "Ridiculous utterly ridiculous!" Horror and realization filled her face as the words instinctively left her mouth.

Cursing the words she once thrown around so often in her old life, her eyes darted to Alix. The rabbit wielder stood frozen in shock, her expression twisting as realization began to dawn.

"Shit"

"Shit"

"Chloé?” Alix asked carefully, her voice soft but trembling with disbelief as she approached.

"Who's Chloé?" Chloé snapped back, a tab bit to quickly give how Alix's eyes shined with realization, "Can't say I heard that name bef-"

Her sentence was cut off as Alix’s fist slammed hard into her injured shoulder, pain far greater than the initial arrow bloomed across her shoulder. Before the Guardian could respond, the rabbit hero started laughing.

"That's for lying," Alix chuckled, still catching her breath between giggles, "Did you seriously quote fucking Star Wars when you introduced yourself?"

Chloé blinked, stunned. Of all the reactions she expected, this wasn’t even on the list, "......You're not Mad?"

"No, I'm not mad," Alix said calmly, with no warning, she raised her umbrella and whacked Chloé on the head hard, "I'm pissed"

"Oww," Chloé hissed, rubbing the sore spot as her face scrunched in pain, "I deserved that"

“Damn right you did,” Alix snapped, smacking chloé again, "How are you alive, how are you here, why are you here?!" Alix demanded asked alway between swings, "and what the fuck happened to you?!"

"Stop hitting me and I'll tell you," Chloé stumbled back, arms raised defensively as she dodged another swing, "Seriously, since when were you this strong?!?"

"Miraculous," Alix said, pointing at the rabbit miraculous. "Now example"

Letting out a sigh Chloé sat down "better get comfortable this is a long one,"

…………

July 11, 2016

One month post-Miracle Queen:

'How the hell did I even get into this mess?' Chloé thought bitterly, her arms trembling as she swung a wooden chair with all the strength she could muster, splintering it across the face of what could only be described as a goddamn vampire.

The seventeen year old was genuinely surprised how far her life has changed within the span of three weeks. First sheself exiles herself left pairs, then she started traveling the world in the attempt to seek atonement for her actions and now here she is fighting for the lives of strangers in some town in the middle of nowhere and likely going to die by vampires of all things.... Though let it be know that Chloé Fucking Bourgeois didn't go down without a fight.

"You fucking want some?!" she screamed, driving the broken leg of the chair in her left hand deep into the vampire’s chest.

Another blur of pale flesh and claws came at her from the corner of her vision. Her instincts kicked in as she quickly rolled out of the way, hitting the ground hard. Ignoring the pain that rattled through her ribs, she launched herself off the ground and onto the vampire's back, and drove a broken leg of the chair into its eye. The vampire convulsed, shrieking in agony, and thrashed violently until it hurled her off its back and into a near by wall. Pain tore through her ribs, as she let out a wet cough that brought blood onto her lips.

'Is this how I'm going to die?' The thought burned bitter in her chest, "Fitting end for a traitor like me," she chuckled before noticing a broken piece of glass laying next to her. Her hand shot out, slicing her palm as she wrapped her fingers around it.

The vampire seized her by the throat, hoisting her off the ground. Her legs kicked uselessly as black spots ate away at her vision. Summoning the last reserves of her strength, Chloé raised the shard high.

"I'm ready!" Chloé screamed, slamming the piece of glass into the vampire's neck, "How 'bout you?!"

The vampire dropped her instantly, gurgling and thrashing as it clawed uselessly at the glass embedded in its neck. Chloé collapsed, gasping for breath, spitting up more blood in the process. She forced herself onto her elbows in time to watch the monster topple, twitching violently before lying still.

Her body screamed in protest as she dragged herself onto two feet once more. A near feral grinn fell on her face as eyes the corpse... only to immediately fall upon hearing the sound of movement.

She turned her head, eyes widening at the sight of two more vampires barreling toward her. Her shoulders sagged. Breath rattled in her chest. She closed her eyes and let out a weary sigh.

She prepared herself to be rip to shreds, only to be meeted by the scrack of a shotgun and a gust of wind that flew past her. Chloé’s eyes flew open, as she was greeted by the sight of the vampires twitching in the dirt before going still. Turning around she spotted her savior.

A long brown hair man with three scars across the right side of his face somewhat covered by a pair of sunglasses wearing what appeared to be a biker outfit.

"Not bad kid," the biker said, holstering the shotgun and gesturing toward the corpses Chloé had left behind, "can't say I seen a non-mage take out dead apostles before, especially so easily,"

Chloé swallowed hard, wiping the blood from her lips as she leaned against the wall for support, "Thanks, I... dealt with similar things before" she mumbled out, ,before processing what the man said, "wait, 'Dead Apostles'? 'non-mage'?"

"Vampires, and people who can use magic," the man explained, stepping closer and offering her a steadying arm, "Name's Kairi Sisigou"

She hesitated for a moment before accepting the hand, "Chloé bo-," She stopped, her breath catching as she shook her head, "Chloé, just Chloé,"

_________

"Hey, here's your cut," Kairi said, tossing Chloé a bag.

"My cut?" Chloé asked curiously, before opening the bag and frozing at the sight of bundles of cash stared back at her, 'this... this could last me a couple of months,'

"Yeah your cut, You kill half of those Dead Apostles," he point it out, "Only fair you get paid"

Chloé blinked at him, "So you're some sort of monster hunter?"

"Not exactly," Kairi said as he pulled out a cigarette. "I was hired to hunt down the guy making those apostles,"

Nodding Chloé zipped the bag shut and slipped it into her backpack, and turn away to leave, "thanks, I'll get out of your hair now,"

"Hold on a second," Kairi said, causing Chloé to stop and turn to look at him, "You’ve got skill, kid, I’ve got another job lined up, and… if you’re interested, you could tag along. Pays pretty good better,"

Thinking for a second, Chloé nodded. "What's the job?"

Notes:

And just like that the origin Arc begins, hope you enjoy this chapter.

As for our surprise guest character Kairi Sisigou, I couldn't think of a way to have Chloé get to the point of meeting Alaya without some mage knowledge.

Chapter Text

September 4, 2018

It's been slightly over two year now, since she started working with Kairi. To say Chloé was surprised at how quickly she adjusted to this life would be an understatement. While her mind did take time to adjust to the act of killing people, her body on the other hand for the most part quickly adjusted to this form of life pretty quickly for an inexperienced Mage such as herself though Chloé assumes it's a likely side effect from her time wielding the bee miraculous…... though that doesn't mean she's a prodigy

"Ridiculous… utterly ridiculous," the now  nineteen year old, muttered under her breath as yet another attempt failed.

"Hey," Kairi said, his voice steady and encouraging, "you're getting better at it,"

Chloé let out a frustrated sigh, "Right… I just don’t get it. I did it perfectly fine before, and that was… on accident,"

"Hmm, can't say I'm too familiar with Gradation Air but perhaps try using different variants? Make it your own"

"Guess it wouldn't hurt to try," Chloé spoke, thinking of the weapon she saw that priest use. What was his name, Kotomine? "if this works I'll get you some skulls or something... Trace on?"

Suddenly a blue light emerged in her hand taking the form of a long and slender rapier-like sword with a blade measuring over one meter and extremely short hilts.

"Holy shit…" Chloé whispered, awe mixing with disbelief.

"Guess you owe me some 'skulls' now, huh? Good job, kid," Kairi said, smirking.

Before Chloé could respond, the blade shattered like glass. She threw up her hands in exasperation, "Well… back to square one,"

Kairi chuckled softly, "kid, I think I might have something that might cheer you up," Kairi said, handing a box to Chloé

"What's the occasion?" Chloé asks, laying the box on the makeshift table.

"None, just figured you would have liked them"

Opening the box Chloé spotted a pair of swords identical in every way except color, one was black while the other was white.

"They look nice," Chloé said, before lifting one of them. "good balance too"

"They're called Kanshou and Bakuya, Could come in useful for the next job"

"expecting trouble?"

"Shouldn't be anything more than usual."

_______________

Chloé was honestly shocked upon walking to the entrance of the Clocktower, an Academy for Mages as well as the headquarters of the Mage Association. Though it did bring a few questions to Chloe, the biggest of which is why are they hiring Chloé and Kairi

"You sure you don't want to go inside?"

"Yeah I'm sure," Chloé confirmed, gesturing towards the front page of a newspaper title 'traitorous Queen bee replaced'. "Don't know why but I feel like I'm probably not welcome"

"Alright," Kairi sighed walking into the building.

'It's probably better this way,' Chloé thought, While she knows a few people have brought up her time as the bee miraculous holder in a positive light even after she was manipulated into betraying the heroes, she notices the closer she is to France the more she sees nothing but justified hatred and hostility towards her so going inside a School filled with magic users that's really only spitting distance away from France is probably not the safest choice she could make.

_______________

"So what's the job?" Chloé asks, spotting the briefcase in Kairi's hand.

"Remember when I told you about the Holy Grail Wars," Kairi said, pulling out a cigarette.

"seven Mages summon heroes of the past as servants and fight until only one remains, the winner of the holy Grail war gets a wish granted," Chloé recalled, earning a nod from Kairi "why you askin- wait are we going to compete in one?"

"Yes and no, the one we are competing in isn't like a normal Grail War, we'll have seven allies and seven enemies"

Nodding Chloé glances at the briefcase. "I'm guessing the catalyst is in there?"

"Yep, piece of the Round Table,"

"So we're able to summon any Knight of the Round Table?" Chloé asks, remembering how Pollen told her during the night they first met about how one of her former Masters fought side-by-side with the king of knights.

"Yep,"

___________

"Trust me, I strongly believe me being the master will end in disaster for us," Chloé protested, recalling how she treated Sabrina and her final conversation with Pollen.

"If you say so," Kairi said, reaching his hand out." You might want to get behind me" Nodding her head Chloé does so as Kairi begins

"Elements of silver and iron

Foundation of Stone and the Archduke of patcts.

The color I bestow is "red""

Suddenly the summoning Circle begins to glow red

"A wall for ascending winds

close the gates of the fourth directions

Come forth from the crown

…..and follow the Fork Road leading to the kingdom

Behold my will creates your body and your sword my destiny

If you heed the grail's call and oaey

My will and reason

Then answer me

I hereby swear

that shall be all the good in the world and that I shall defeat all evil in the world

Thou seventh heaven

Clad in the great words of power

Spring forth

now guardian of the scales!"

Her vision blinded by pure white before slowly returning to her. When her eyes focus again she's shocked upon seeing a knight clad in white and red armor.

"And you are," Kairi asked, as Chloé walked over to them.

Suddenly the knight's helmet begins to fall apart and attach itself to pieces of the knight's armor. Revealing to the surprise of Kairi and Chloé a girl appearing to be at Chloe's age with blonde hair put into a ponytail and forest green eyes.

"You may call me Mordred, the one and only legitimate successor to the Fame king of knights, Arthur Pendragon." The now revealed knight of treachery exclaimed, stabbing her sword into the ground with a sharptooth grin on her face " now then I ask of you which one of you is my master?"

At that moment Chloé's face turned bright red as one thought repeated itself within her mind. Oh no she's hot!

Notes:

Hope you enjoy the chapter!
If you're wondering why I hinted at Zoe gaining a miraculous a year after she was supposed to, I kind of find it odd that Zoe is the only side character to gain a miraculous the literal next episode after their debut, plus Chloé wasn't there to be used as a plot device so Zoe wasn't put into a situation until now where she would gain a miraculous.

As to why I hinted at it at all, I wanted to somewhat show the consequences of Miracle Queen and I wanted to give a little bit of info on what's happing in Pairs...... plus I really didn't want to write down the entire conversation Kairi and Rocco had with Chloé comments add here and there.

Also don't worry the next chapter will be a mixture of the main story and the origin arc, I just wanted a massive set up this chapter

Chapter 6: The Saber of Red

Chapter Text

"So you're telling me not only are there secret battles between 7 Mages who summon Heroes of the past for…..a wish granting cup, you fight in a modified version of one?" Alix said skeptically, "that sounds a little hard to believe"

"Remind me, who's the one with a time-traveling rabbit sitting in ancient Egypt talking to their old classmate who's dead?"

"Fair enough, so what happened next?"

………..

"Yes I'm your master Kairi Sisigou, this is Chloé," Kairi said gesturing towards Chloé who simply gives a quick nod "it's a pleasure"

"Such a dismal place to be summoned in," Mordred said, glancing around the cemetery, "what are you a necromancer?"

"He is yes," Chloé quickly squeaked out an answer, earning a raised eyebrow from Kairi before the realization kicked in causing him to give a knowing smirk.

'Old man I swear if you ruin my chance I will kill you!' Chloe thought, staring daggers at Kairi which gained a chuckle from the necromancer.

" Chloé's correct, I spent a large portion of my youth with Corpses, but man who would have that Mordred was a wom-"

Suddenly the Sabre's eyes turned red, moving the end of Clarent's balde to Kairi's neck.

"H-hey now,"

"Next time you call me a woman, I won't be able to restrain myself, you understand,"

'So this is what Adrien meant when he said "kagami could stab me and I would thank her!"' Chloé thought, before processing that her friend is in peril

"Alright, I get it my bad,"

"That is acceptable," Mordred said, quickly moving their sword down before facing their catalyst. Letting out a grunt Mordred quickly smashed it in half with Clarent

"Oh come on that's just being wasteful,"

"Who cares,"

"Was it insulting to summon the treacherous kight with a relic like that,"

"Yes, I'm not at the same caliber as a knight of the Round Table, I Mordred am the one and truly legitimate successor to Arthur Pendragon legendary king of knights"

"And yet you committed treachery," Kairi said before pausing glancing at Chloé

"He did not approve of me despite my bloodline, my skills were not enough sway him either" Mordred stated, walking over to a large piece of the remains of The Relic. "so I taught the king a little lesson just to show him that all of his governing meant nothing at all!" Suddenly Mordred slammed their foot down upon the remains crushing them farther

'I know the feeling to some extent,' Chloé thought with a somber sigh, recalling how no matter what she did it was never enough to gain her mother's approval or love. how even ladybug throw her aside claiming it's 'for your own good' due to Hawkmoth knowing her identity, the blinding rage upon witnessing Ladybug allowed Kagami to use the miraculous again even though her identity was exposed as well and finally the horror realization on what she's done after she calm down.

"Then I'm guessing the wish you want granted by the Holy Grail is to become king?" Kairi asked, breaking Chloe's train of thought.

"I have no intention of becoming King that way, the sword of selection I want to challenge myself to draw the sword just as the king of knights once did"

"Your wish is to prove yourself worthy to be king?" Chloé asks.

"Yeah, That should be a fairly easy task for someone like me"

"if that's really what you want to do, I have an idea" kairi smiled moving his hand towards Mordred. "It's nice to meet you Mordred"

Smiling, Mordred slammed their hand against Kairi's "likewise, I'm counting on you, master!" The knight explain, before gave a wink at Chloé "same goes for you"

Chloé's face turned redder than ladybug's suit as Mordred laughed "Now, where's our enemy?"

"Calm down, we're heading towards a church first," Kairi explained

"A church?"

"Yeah, the three of us are going to confess to a priest," Kairi stated, earning a confused expression for Mordred and an annoyed groan from Chloé.

"Did you really have to explain it like that?"

……….

"A church?" Alix asks confused, as they continue to walk.

"the hidden side of the Roman Catholic Church that specializes in the hunting of heresy," Chloé sighed. "Basically think of it as some sort of Black Ops group"

"Okay then why you have to go there," asked the Rabbit hero, not noticing Chloé's right hand forming into a fist.

"Normally Holy Grail Wars have a representative of the church as a overseer make sure things run normally," Chloé spoke anger slowly filled her "however in the great Holy Grail War things went…..differently"

"How so?"

"The Mage's Association and Holy Church appoint an overseer for the Red Faction," the Guardian continued, venom seeping through each word as she recalled the priest and the bitch of an assassin who took away everything Chloé had left.

A long silence broke between the two as they continued to walk towards Abydos. Chloé let out a small sigh upon noticing how Alix looked concerned.

"We should set up camp for the night," Chloé finally spoke, breaking the silence. "You get some rest, I'll... I'll take watch."

Chapter 7: The Priest's Assassin

Chapter Text

September 5, 2018

"We had an appointment arranged here. Are you the person we're supposed to talk to?" Kairi asked, staring at a white-haired man praying.

Slowly the man stood tall and turned to face them. Much to Chloé's surprised he seems to be pretty young despite the man's pure white hair. The white hair man's clothing was all black with a small Golden Cross hanging from his neck.

"That would be correct, I'm sure you've guessed I am the director," the priest stated, giving a kind smile that felt off to Chloé. "my name is Shirou kotomine"

"I'm Kairi Sisigou, this is Chloé, mind if we skip the pleasantries?"

"No, I don't mind at all, and you're servant there?"

Suddenly Mordred materialized their body into the room, helmet covering their face.

"Hey," Kairi quietly said, as Mordred raised their left hand.

Chloé watched in confusion as the servant and master communicate telepathically.

"Now I will reveal mine," Kotomine said, turning his head left as a extremely long haired woman wearing a black dress with pointed elf ears materialized.

"Assassin of red, true Name Semiramis. We're counting on you, Sisigou and Chloé was it?" The Assassin revealed to be Semiramis said,  a thin smile appearing on her face

Chloé wasn't sure why but the moment Assassin materialized something at the back of her mind told her to be on guard. Not looking away from the assassin Chloé slowly moving her hands to her sides closer to Kanshou and Bakuya. Against popular belief Chloé wasn't as arrogant as many believed her to be, she knows full well that she's no way capable of fighting a servant. Even if she were to have a miraculous on her, she wasn't fully convinced she could take one on let alone win ….but doesn't mean she wasn't going to defend herself if need be.

Quickly glancing at Mordred who before to Chloé's relief and concern also seemed to pick up on the unease the Assassin is giving off, quickly materialized Clarent into their hand. Immediately Kairi without breaking eye contact with Kotomine placed both of his hands in front of Chloé and Mordred causing the two to look up at him. As Kairi shook his head Mordred with a grunt of annoyance dematerialized Clarent as Chloé moved her hands away from her blades.

"Well should we exchange our information," Kotomine asks, ignoring the quick display of hostility.

………

"So what's with this true name thing?" Alix questioned, staring at Chloé across the little campfire the two made.

"Think of it in a similar sense as the identity rule team miraculous uses, learning a servant's identity could give their opponent an advantage since they would be able to search up information regarding the servant including weaknesses"

"Oh so if someone were to summon say Achilles they would learn his weak spot is his heel right?"

"Precisely," Chloé confirmed a small smile forming across her face at the mention of the green haired rider of red

"So why did Assassin reveal her true name to you?"

"A servant revealing their identity means many things; it could be arrogance, a show of strength, respect towards an opponent, even a sign of trust," Chloé said, gritting her teeth at the mention of Semiramis. "of course another reason is tied to their Noble Phantasm"

"Noble Phantasm?"

"Consider it as the 'ace up their sleeve'. weapons, ability or powers based off of their Legend." Chloé explained recalling the destructive might of Clarent Blood Arthur and much to her own annoyance Assassin's Hanging Gardens of Babylon. "Of course using it requires saying it's true name thus revealing the servant's identity"

……..

"Most of their servants have assembled, among them Lancer, the servant who we presume to be Vlad the Third, will be our biggest concern," Kotomine stated.

"guess they really did summon him after all," Kairi said

"A servant's strength is affected by their reputation,  especially here in Romania, he be summoned as a hero not as a vampire."

"And what about our Servants?" Chloé asks.

"In terms of quality they seem to be fairly outstanding," Kotomine stated, taking a quick look at Mordred with a small frown appearing on his face for a split second before returning to a smile.

"sounds about right," Kairi said glancing at Assassin who in turn let out a giggle before turning her head, facing the armored saber

"Also, the summoning of a ruler class has recently been confirmed." Kotomine said before Chloé could bring attention to assassin's curiosity of the saber.

"So there's a 15th servant out there?" Kairi ask much to Chloé's confusion

"Ruler? Can't say I heard of that class before"

"Ruler is the class that organizes a Holy Grail War," Kotomine explained "naturally one would be summoned for this Great Holy Grail War"

"Can't say I love the idea of one watching me" Kairi spoke up, as the white haired priests stood up.

"Now then why don't we join up with the other Masters,"

Wait, the other Masters are here? Why didn't they meet us out here especially during the importance of discussing possibly the strongest servant the masters of black have. Chloé thought.

To her relief either Mordred or Kairi found it odd as well given the shared glance between the two.

"We don't need to meet the others," Kairi said, Chloé giving a nod in agreement.

"You don't?" The priest asked, his tone filled with surprise.

"We'll just handle things on our own," since saber has enough power to fight battles solo I'm sure we'll be fine"

"Do you not work well in groups?"

"Yeah I guess you can say that," Kairi said, getting up from his seat before making his way towards the door.

"The enemy completely establishes itself as an army. If you move on your own accord we're sure to suffer some inconveniences," the assassin of red argued. "and you still intend to leave"

"That's right, my apologies,"

As The three walk out of the Church, Mordred dematerialize themselves much to Chloé's disappointment. While she knew the saber was still technically present Chloé couldn't help finding herself disappointed at not being able to hear or speak to them…. Plus Kairi having somewhat of a one way conversation with them certainly wasn't helping.

At least he took my advice on wearing an earbud. Chloé thought, picturing with amusement the Necromancer seemingly having a conversation with himself in public

"Chloé?" Kairi said, snapping Chloé out of her train of thought.

"Yeah?"

"Saber requested a favor,  I was hoping you could help them with it,"

"A favor? Sure? What's the favor"

'Oh nothing serious, just need you to go clothes shopping with them,"

"wouldn't be much of a problem sure," Chloé said before her mind finished processing the request "wait what?"

Chapter 8: out on the town, battle on the streets

Chapter Text

'Kairi, I don't know if I should thank you or kill you,' Chloé thought as she looked over her current situation standing inside a clothing shop whose owner thankfully bought the 'my friend is a cosplayer who needs a fresh pair of clothes' lie as well as didn't recognize her from the news.

"I'm coming out," Chloé heard Mordred shout from the changing room.

"Alright let's see how you lo-," Chloé said before freezing as the knight opened the door, showing off a pair of short shorts, a red zip up jacket and a tank top revealing their midriff.

'Oh you could grind meat on those,' Chloé thought before breaking eye contact with the Saber's exposed abs.

"So how do I look?" Mordred asks, a small smirk forming on their face enjoying Chloé's reaction.

"Breathtaking," Chloé mumbled, before realizing much to her own horror she said that out loud. "I-I mean you look go-"

"Breathtaking huh?" A shit eating grin appeared on Mordred's face as Chloe's face turned redder in embarrassment."good to know."

'Is... Is this Karma for all the times I laughed at Dupain-Cheng?' Chloé thought, as the saber of red being to walk past the former hero before pausing.

"Something up?" Chloé asks, trying to change the conversation as the saber walks over to a Shelf pulling a red long coat off it.

"Nothing," Mordred said before handing the long coat to Chloé. "just figured this coat would look good on you."

Blinking in Surprise Chloe accepted the coat quickly putting it on, she was surprised to find how comfortable the coat was. looking at a wall mirror a small smile forms on Chloe.

"Not bad Chloé," Mordred said, giving the ex-bee hero a wink causing her face to turn nearly as red as the coat.

__________

As the pair made their way to the area Kairi told them to meet, Chloé couldn't help but let out a sigh as the saber glared at anyone who stared at the two or rather at Chloé in disgust or anger.

"Saber relax, they're staring at me not you... can't say I blamed them"

"Why," Mordred asked as Chloé went through her phone pulling up a picture of Queen Bee.

"Should have figured the Holy Grail didn't fill you in on modern day….events going on" Chloé said showing the knight of Treachery her phone"look familiar? "

Mordred stared at the phone for a few seconds before realization appeared on their face. "You have a miraculous?"

"Had," Chloé clarified. " I'll start at the beginning, after I found the miraculous, I revealed my identity in an attempt to gain my mother's love because of that action and me having a thankfully short lived hero syndrome the miraculous was taken away,  I figured that would have been the last time I would have used a miraculous... but then my father was akumatized"

"Akumatized?"

"The power of the butterfly miraculous,in exchange for doing something for the user it will give people powers when they are emotional vulnerable. Anyway, when my father was akumatized ladybug, the user of the ladybug miraculous gave me a second chance with the bee miraculous. Thanks to that chance I managed to do some good with it…. until Miraculer were she not only retired me but lie to my face of the reason for it "

"What was the lie?"

"She told me that due to the butterfly user, Hawkmoth, knowing my identity puts myself and my family at risk. At the time I believed that lie until I saw her bring out a girl named Kagami who also had her identity exposed against my akumatized parents" Chloé said avoiding eye contact with Mordred not wanting to see their reaction. "Then Hawk moth showed up and corner on my roof and" Chloe said not caring that her voice began to crack. "he handed me the bee miraculous God knows how he managed to get that, told me how Ladybug doesn't care about me, promise to let my parents go if I join him, told me things I wanted to hea-"

"So people hate you because you were told a lie on how 'it's for your own safety', cornered on a rooftop, childish as it sounds by some sort of super villain who uses people's emotions against them?"

"No, no one knows that part, people hate me due to me revealing the identities of the other temporary Heroes"

A Silence broke between the two for what felt like hours to Chloé before she felt an arm rest on her shoulder.

"given how you act right now it's clear you hold guilt from it and there is the fact that you were powerless to stop him from possibly hurting you even if you did refused.... how did you know I knew about the bee miraculous anyway?"

Smiling at the change of conversation Chloé began, "Pollen told me how she served one of the Knights of the Round though she never specified who, I guessed it might have been you"

" I wasn't her user," Mordred let out a snort "it was actually Lancelot"

"Lancelot?" Chloé frown "From what little she told me about him I figured she wasn't close with him"

"Really? They were basically inseparable," Mordred said with surprise before giving a small shrug "guess they must have had some sort of fallout since I last saw them"

___________

'don't look at me like that they're the one that picked it out,' Chloé thought as Kairi raised an eyebrow at her.

"everything go well?" Kairi asks, turning his attention towards Mordred.

"It did, thank you master,"

"Don't worry about it, it was a necessary expense," Kairi Nodding before glancing at Chloe again "nice coat"

"Thanks, Mord- I mean Saber pick it out," Chloé stated gesturing towards the Knight of treachery, who look around in confusion

"It's strange… we're all the way out here in the heart of the enemy and nobody has attacked us yet,"

"Rest assured this town is definitely under the control of Yggdmillennia."

"Which means?" Mordred asks before turning their head to face the direction Kairi is looking.

Chloé doing the same spotted a total of six individuals wearing identical uniforms and three large stone golems. Glancing towards the rooftops Chloé spotted several bowmen.

"See," Kairi said, quickly pulling out his shotgun loading it

Immediately Mordred started laughing, lightly hitting Kairi in the back "okay I get it now I thought it was just me but you and Chloé were decoys too. Master you Just might be insane." A smirk appeared on Mordred's faces as Chloé heard several more golems move from behind them "I like it"

"You take the golems, Chloé and I will focus on getting rid of of the homunculi," Kairi said as Chloé pull out her swords "show me the extent of your power saber!"

Immediately Chloé and Kairi charged towards the homunculi, Chloé risking a glance quickly spotted Mordred catch a stone Golem weapon with a single hand somewhat beginning to be covered in armor

"Understood master," the saber shouted Before her body was engulfed in Crimson lightning quickly moving across the battlefield faster than Chloé's eyes could follow

'So this is the power of a servant?' Chloé thought, before jumping over Kairi slashing her blades into a homunculus. Suddenly Chloé felt a burst of air move past the right side of her head as three projectiles land their marks on a trio of homunculi charging towards Chloé.

"A little warning next time," Chloé shouted towards Kairi who gave a quick-smile in acknowledgement. Before the two quickly jumped to cover as a hail of arrows began to rain upon them from the rooftops.

Glancing at Kairi, Chloé spotted him pull out a purple heart-shaped grenade. Chloé watched as Kairi threw the grenade towards the rooftops, the homunculi in an attempt to take out the grenade fired arrows upon it.

Smirking Chloé watches the arrows pierce it before it explodes in a blast of purple smoke killing the homunculi, as Kairi and Chloé move out of cover Chloé spotted Mordred picking up a Golem with ease.

"And now off you go!" Mordred grunted, throwing the Gollum towards another who stood on a roof.

"Looks like we're done,"

"I'm surprised by your skill," Mordred complemented

"But why did they go all out like that" Kairi said looking towards the homunculi

"Likely in attempt to see us in action," Chloé spoke up "that's something I would do if I had their resources"

"They didn't even send one of their servants" Mordred pointed out "those cowards"

"Let's Retreat for today," Kairi said, picking up a purple crystal from a golem "it wasn't a complete waste"

"Are you really going to coop us up in a catacomb like this all day?" Mordred ask, playing with a human skull in boredom. "you're insane"

'I don't know whether I should be concerned that I'm not bothered by the fact they're playing with a skull or find them doing so weirdly adorable,' Chloé thought, sharpening one of the arrows she stole claimed during their last victory, as she watched the servant complain to Kairi.

"Just relax," Kairi stated "being here should help you regain magical energy pretty quickly."

"The amount of magical energy I have isn't the problem dammit!" Mordred shouted, tossing the skull across the room.

"Oh, are you scared then," Kairi jokingly asks, earning a light snort from Chloé.

"I'm not scared! I just can't stand getting such poor treatment in a place like this"

"Easy to defend, hard to assault, it's a great place,"

"You do realize I used to be a knight don't you?!" Mordred shouted into Kairi's ear. "Regardless no one normal would accept these conditions"

"They have a point, Kairi," Chloé said, finally joining the conversation."it is utterly ridiculous"

"Okay I get it, you two want to go outside, you're more than welcome to do so-"

Suddenly Kairi's bone pendulum turned on, quickly starting to write a message. Once it's finished Kairi grabs it.

"From Shirou" Kairi said as Mordred glanced over his shoulder to read the message. "Th-"

"Berserker went out of control and stormed the enemy Fortress huh?" Mordred state gives the Necromancer a smirk

"Who would have guessed a Berserker would go Berserk?" Chloé said, earning an annoyed sigh from Kairi.

……..

"Berserker?" Alix asked the Counter Guardian, who was almost at the top of the small sand dune the pair were climbing.

"One of the seven  standard servant classes, as the name implies the Servants under that class are put int- ," Chloé said before stopping once she reached the top.

"Something wrong,"

"Nothing, we're just closer than I originally thought," Chloé said, glancing at the city of Abydos. "We should be there within the next two hours or so"

"That's a relief," Alix said, as she reached the top. "don't know about you but actual food and a bed sounds extremely nice right now"

"That does sound nice but it's unnecessary for me," the Counter Guardian said, trying to remember what a bed felt like.

"what do you mean?"

"Right, forget you've never encountered a heroic spirit before," Chloé said, letting out an embarrassed chuckle. "A heroic Spirit such as myself doesn't have a true body anymore it's more of a synthetic body created through mana because of that we do not required food or rest to function only a steady supply of Mana though that being said, sleeping can slow the consumption of Mana while food can replenish a small amount"

"How do you get a supply of Mana?"

" that's a complicated question, the main way heroic Spirit such as myself usually gain a steady supply is by having a contract with a mage or an entity able to produce a lot of Mana which in my case would be the counter Force, but if the mage is unable to give a necessary amount then…. alternative means could happen. The common types are consuming souls, eating a human heart, mana transferring, and eating Foods as I mentioned earlier."

"Mana transferring?"

"Short version, it's uh fucking"

"I see, so does that mean you and Mordred Mana transfe-?"

"Kubdel, finish that sentence and I will throw you all the way to France"

September 7, 2018

'Where did they get a Cat?' Chloé thought as she watched Mordred play with a small grey cat before turning her attention towards Kairi who slowly started to get up.

"Come on, what's with the weird dream?" Kairi asks, rubbing the side of his head as he slowly sets up right on the couch.

"You alright there boss?" Chloé asks as Mordred turns their attention towards the necromancer.

"Don't worry about it," Kairi said, which earned a shrug from Mordred as they continued playing with the little cat.

"So as soon as you're not sleeping somewhere creepy, you start having nightmares? Seriously you necromancers are weirder than I thought"

Much to Chloé's surprise, said necromancer simply grunted in knowledgement

"Okay, what's your problem" Mordred ask side eyeing Chloé.

"Nothing, hey, let's go eat"

__________

"We have the latest news on the mysterious serial killings that have been happening recently," a News Reporter state through the small portable TV radio on the table "according to this morning's police statement the affected area continues to expand with each casualty the first victim was found in Bucharest"

"A Serial murder case huh" Kairi stated before his phone started to ring "Hello, oh hey Lord El-Melloi…. What's the problem?"

As Kairi continued to talk with El-Melloi, Chloé spotted Mordred getting up from the table and began playing with the cat from earlier.

'Ok that's weirdly cute,' Chloé thought, continuing to watch the servant play with the small cat. Before long movement caught the corner of Chloé's eye as Kairi hung up and slowly stood.

"I need to investigate something, in the meantime you and saber go check out the town"

__________

"Well someone's in a bad mood," Kairi said walking up to the pair.

"I was hoping we could go sightseeing," Mordred state, the hero grabing food from the bag they were eating from "but this town has no high-rises, no amusement parks, nothing. Are you sure it's been a thousand years since my time"

"Well this town is known to preserve its architecture from the Middle Ages," Kairi explained, setting down next to Chloé "geez you sure you eat a lot"

"It's a hobby of mine okay? it also helps me keep in shape however, a hobby is a hobby it's not going to keep me calm when there's still fighting to do"

"You can rest easy, I have some good news for you," Kairi said, pulling out a cigarette before lighting it. "I went to examine the Corpses based off the wounds I notice some of the victims tried to fight back but for the most part they were chopped into pieces with their hearts gouged out it was a gruesome sight"

"Why the heart?" Mordred asks before Chloé could.

"For servants, the heart is the location of their Spirit cores and for humans it's a source of life, if I had to take a guess the enemy ate them to gain energy

"Well that's pretty disgusting anyways what do you think, was it a servant?"

"There's no doubt about it, initially the victims in Bucharest were Thugs and gang members. But ever since the association's deployed-"

"All the victims were Mages," Chloé pick up earning a nod from Kairi

"So since there's only two still here the chances are pretty likely that those two Mages will be the next Target," Mordred said, earning a smirk from Kairi.

"Rumors of the serial killer have spread out throughout town no one would dare go out at night," Kairi said getting up "saber it's time to put your armor on"

"Right, let's take them on," Mordred said, slamming their fists together causing their armor to emerge onto them in blinded red light.

__________

"What the, who the hell are you?!" A police officer shouted, putting a hand on his holster.

"So long for 'no one would dare to go out at night'," Chloé joke earning a groan from Kairi

"I-is that armor?" The officer stated nervously before noticing Chloé, eyes widened in fear as he took a step back "Wwait, your Chloé Bourgeois! Just Just stay where you are"

Letting out a sigh, Kairi remove the cigarette from his mouth and started to perform a memory manipulation spell "we're here on the behalf of of the public safety Division you can leave this area to us"

The officer now in a daze moved his hand away from his holster "oh sure no problem please be careful okay?" The cop calmly said, before stumbling away

"Damn it, if we don't take care of this soon it's going to be pretty difficult to keep this under wraps," Kairi stated as a fog slowly rolled in

"Hey, something's wrong," Mordred said, quickly summoning their weapon as they looked around.

Quickly both Chloé and Kairi moved in alarm as it slowly began to be difficult to breathe.

"this fog is-" Kairi said before quickly falling to his knees coughing, Chloé quickly following suit "it's poison don't inhale it"

"It doesn't affect me," Mordred said quickly moving to Chloé and Kairi sides, lifting the two Mages on to their shoulders "hang on"

"Thanks," Chloé said, trying to cover her face with her coat as Kairi did the same with his.

"Let's hurry and get out of here," Kairi said in between coughs.

the saber nodded, quickly pulling the two through the streets.

'Just need to hold out for… for a little longer,' Chloé thought as she fought to stay conscious. Blinking a few times Chloé look around the area as the servant dragged her and the Necromancer to a hopeful safety, she wasn't sure if it was the lack of air but she could have sworn she saw a silhouette of a child for a few seconds in the fog

"This way," Mordred said as Chloé looked in front of her, seeing what appeared to be moonlight only a few feet away. "Alright we're out,"

"Okay from now on-," Kairi begins before Mordred suddenly pushed him out of the way and sweep Chloe off her feet

"Ow, what was th-," Chloé began to say as suddenly she heard the sound of a blade hitting the floor and a pair of feet landing behind her. Moving her head to face her would-be assassin, Chloé's eyes widened as she saw what appeared to be a young white haired child with greenish yellow eyes with bandages wrapped around her arms.

"Unfortunately for you, these two are my comrades," Mordred gestures towards Kairi and Chloé before summoning their sword and pointing it towards the Assassin.

The child, either ignoring Mordred or simply not paying attention, looked towards her arm where blood started to drip. "Hey you cut us, what a cruel thing to do"

"...why would the Grail summon a child?" Chloé mumbled in confusion as she began to push herself off the ground, doing so she noticed how the child assassin's eyes seemed to follow her movement like a predator stalking its prey.

"You think that's cruel? I don't want to hear that from someone who goes around eating people Souls" Mordred said voice filled with anger

"Nothing wrong with that," the Assassin said, face till with an innocent expression before changing to that of a sadistic grin as she threw six her knives directly towards Chloé "right?"

The saber servant immediately jumped in front of Chloé before the former heiress could react, slicing knives out of the air with their sword. The Assassin immediately jumped backwards into the air returning into the fog

"Master, Chloé, wait here," Mordred ordered before chasing after the Assassin

"It's all you," Kairi said before pulling out a monkey's paw from his jacket "barrier to keep people away appeared" the monkey paw doing as ordered begin to walk forward

While the paw began to create the barrier Chloé stared into the fog trying to listen for any signs of the two servants fighting.

"Red Thunder," Chloé heard Mordred yell as a bright red light cleared out the fog. Letting out A Satisfied smirk Mordred pointed towards the Assassin with their blade " it's over assassin, feel free to crying and scream to your heart's content because without your head you won't be able to do either of those things anymore"

"Oh come on," the Assassin giggled, pulling out a pair of large knives and taking a glance towards Chloé before charging. "we're still so hungry!"

"You're going to regret this assassin!" Mordred yelled charging towards the Assassin.

Suddenly an arrow appeared out of nowhere exploding right between the two servants

"Saber!" Chloé yelled in surprise running towards the servant. As Chloé got closer she saw to her relief the Knight seemingly unscaved while the assassin seemed to have been somewhat injured as she quickly dematerialized.

………….

"Wait a second," Alix said confused, "I don't understand how did Mordred suddenly go from standing next to you and Kairi to being in the middle of an explosion from some sort of Archer? What happened to assassin?"

"I'm afraid I can't remember what Assassin of black looks like nor the fight Mordred had against them," Chloé explained, which confused Alix further.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, that's a surprise for later"

Notes:

Right so my apologies for this chapter disappearing, I'm not sure why that happened but anyways I do hope you enjoy this chapter.

"Saber!" Chloé yelled in surprise, running towards the servant. As the smoke cleared much to her relief the Knight was seemingly unscaved while the assassin seemed to have been somewhat injured as she quickly dematerialized. "Thank god your ok"

The servant quickly gave a nod in response before glaring at the building the arrow came from.  Suddenly several more arrows were launched towards the saber as they charged "I'll take on the enemy servant!"

"Got it, leave the master to us," Kairi said before taking out a cigarette

"understood" Mordred exclaim reflecting several more arrows causing them to explode

Moments later the sound of metal hitting the stone caught the attention of the pair of Mages, turning towards an alleyway the pair spotted a woman several feet up in the air with four mechanical legs on her back holding her against the two buildings

Maybe it's a good thing Sabrina isn't here or I might lose my hearing form her fangirling over real life Doctor Octopus legs, Chloé thought recalling the redheads excitement over those American superhero movies.

"Right so I'm assuming we can skip the introductions," Kairi questioned as Chloé try to recall the information the pair gathered regarding Yggdmillennia mages

"Fine by me, it's unlikely that we don't already know each other's names," the master of Archer, Fiore, if the reports were to be believed, stated with a smile. "however you don't mind that I give you a warning first do you?"

"Sure why not" Kairi said while Chloé only raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"I suggest you leave now. Both of you do not belong here, this town is Yggdmillennia territory. leave and I will overlook this but if you decide to ignore this warning I hope you are prepared to atone for your insolence with your life."

"So you don't expect us to listen, right?" Chloé ask smirking

"Oh no, however by making that decoration I'm able to strengthen my resolve to go through with this"

"Is that so," Kairi said before mumbling something. Suddenly a piece of paper flew onto Fipre's face as Kairi quickly pulled out his shotgun and fired.

The master of black immediately jump down in an attempt to avoid the shells but much to her surprise the bullets followed suit

"Jupiter intercept," the master of Archer started as her bottom right robotic arm blocked both shells.

"What," Kairi stated in shock as Fiore landed

"Now, Mars open fire" Fiore commanded with a cold expression written on her face as her upper right arm hand open up firing multiple blast towards the master of red and Chloe

"Shit, shit, shit!" Chloé swore as she and Kairi begin running, quickly jumping over a red car as machine gun fire continued the two hit behind cover.

"Well that's just great that arm thing does it all," Kairi said reloading his shotgun as Chloé pulled her bow of her back "wait a damn minute that gotta be the Bronze-link manipulator, it's more annoying than Clocktower mentioned"

"Got a plan boss?" Chloé asked as a shot pierced the window only missing Chloé's head by a few centimeters "cause I strongly doubt our covers is going to last much longer"

Kairi nodded, pulling out a grenade and gesturing towards a white car a few feet away from them.  "while I distract her you get in the car and hit her" not waiting for a reply the necromancer place the grenade on the ground after pulling the pin "O wind"

As a grenade began to roll towards the mega of Yggdmillennia, Chloé immediately rolled out of cover and towards the parked vehicle.

"Saturn crush it" Chloé heard Fiore yelled as she broke the car's window, entering, she began hot-wiring the vehicle.

'Thanks for the lessons old man', Chloé thought with a smirk as she slammed the gas pedal causing the car to accelerate directly towards Fiore both catching her off guard and launching her into the air

"How can one be so reckless?" Fiore cried out in alarm before face-planting onto the car's windshield, suddenly Chloé's spin the car's wheel causing it to spin in a circle launching Fiore several feet backwards before she fell onto her back. "Damn it" Fiore curse before her eyes widened in fear as Kairi pointed his shotgun towards her

"End of the line" Kairi spoke before firing his shotgun. As the shells accelerated towards the Fallen master of Archer a shadow like dog came out of nowhere and ran in front of the line of fire taking the shell

"What the hell," Chloé yelped in surprise before she spotted a boy in a similar style uniform as Fiore several feet behind her with his arm raised out

"Sister, snap out of it," the other mage of Yggdmillennia said, snapping the master of Archer back to focus.

"R-right," Fiore said before firing her two upper robot arms

Kairi quickly slid behind the car as Chloé kicked open the back door quickly getting behind cover.

"Sister? they're siblings?" Kairi said, Peking somewhat out of cover "Hey kid, are you Caules Forvedge Yggdmillennia?!"

"I am,"

"What happened to a proper introduction? Fight me fair like a true Mage would,"

"I refuse, you big muscle head,"

"Well that's mature," Chloé mumbled

"looks like we have to use our trump card," Kairi said which resulted in Chloé looking at him in confusion "what?"

"I don't see Saber?" Chloé joke earning a grown from The Necromancer that was suddenly cut off by Fiore, who stopped firing

"It seems we're done here, we will be waiting for you in trifas, let us settle this matter when we meet" Fiore said before grabbing her brother and running

"Did something bad happen to her servant?" Kairi asks with Chloé only responding with a shrug.

__________

"Should have known," Kairi groaned in disgust as he looked at the lit cigarette in his hand, Dragon smokes if Chloé was correct. "this brand is awful"

Looking up Chloé spotted Mordred walking towards them somewhat annoyed, the Saber servant seemingly breaking out of a train of thought looked confused and shocked upon seeing the destroyed vehicle the pair of Mages were leaning on.

"Guessing Archer and Assassin retreated?" Kairi questioned earning a mumble in response from the knight as they walked over to the car, folding their arms as they leaned against the car.

"So our first time was a draw," Kairi said before giving a smirk "well I'll say the three of us got a pretty good taste of this Holy Grail War tonight"

Immediately Mordred pushed themself off the car and glared at the necromancer  "Don't you dare speak for me!"

"The look on your face is obvious, regardless on who we decided on," Kairi began, tossing his cigarettes aside he began to walk towards a dark yellow painted car "it's pointless to chase anyone now I mean it's not like there won't be another chance to take them down soon they're all heading to trifas now" The older mage continue before breaking the cars driver seat window open "hop in we're going back"

"I hope we don't have to drop out of the Grail War just because of you getting us arrested Master," The Saber scuffed before a smile formed on their face as Kirei only gave a shrug in response.

__________

Puzzled Chloé tried to recall what assassin of black looked like but much to her annoyance couldn't remember anything, "Ridiculous utterly ridiculous"

"Something on your mind," Kairi ask glancing at the rearview mirror, as the three of them continue their drive to Trifas

"Afew, with the exception of how it ended, can either of you remember our fight against Assassin?" Chloé asks, looking at both of the other occupants of the car. waited a few seconds before taking their silence as a 'no' the ex-hero continued "figures, I think assassin might have a skill, maybe even a noble phantasm, that blocked our memories of them"

"Hmm, it's possible, but that's not the only thing on your mind is it?"

"why did their Archer purposely shoot both Assassin and Mordred, it isn't like Archer didn't have a chance to just hit Mordred so why did he wait until both were close together? Not to mention why is their Assassin the only one of their servants going after bystanders…. Unless"

"Assassin is a third party," Kairi said picking up from Chloé's train of thought" if that's the case then perhaps Yggdmil-"

Suddenly the pair were interrupted by an annoyed Mordred "Master your going to slow, pull over I'm driving"

..……..

"So you can't remember Assassin of black due to a…. skill?" Alix asks, confusion written on her face as she stop walking. The city of Abydos only barely being a few minutes away

"Yep, likely a Personal Skill if I were to guess now, anyway skills are the embodiment of a Servant's various abilities and characteristics, in this case think of Assassin's as an advanced glamour, as your already aware the Glamours the miraculouses users use are able to hide their true identity even towards friends and family but that's more of a surface-level glamour which can easily be broken"

"a miraculous user accidentally gives too much information, someone witnesses them transform or someone puts two and two together," Alix continued before pausing "surface-level?"

"Yes, during the Great Grail War I encountered two far better types of Glamours, assassins and Mordred's" Chloé answered, a small smile formed on her face as she remembered the rebellious knight who stole her heart. "Mordred's helmet hides any details on their identity, their skills, their weapon. It prevents most of those who could otherwise discern their identity from fully recollecting vital information, only vaguely feeling like they recognize them."

"Okay, what about Assassin's?"

"I'm afraid unlike Mordred's I only know the basics of assassin's." Chloé answered with minor annoyance as she failed to recall anything about her second least favorite Assassin she's met over the years "From my understanding, The very second the battle is finished, all memories regarding information concerning anything revolving around Assassin be it identity, appearance, skills or abilities disappear. If there was a way to break through it's beyond me"

"I guess that makes sense, so what happened next?"

"actually I… I have a question for you" Chloé said with a small frown appearing on her face. "You never did answer how you got the miraculous"

Chapter Text

"You never did answer how you got that miraculous,"

Alix's eyes widen as she took a step back "I-I got it from ladybug,"

"Kubdel," Chloé said a mixture of anger and worry evident in her voice "How, why did you get it."

A silence that felt like an eternity broke between the two as the Counter Guardian stared down the rabbit wielder. Chloé was about to ask again until being interrupted by Alix who let out a sigh "When…. Team Miraculous defeated Shadowmoth the butterfly miraculous was lost, three months later… Monarch emerged."

"Monarch?" Chloé's hands forming into fists.

"That's what the new butterfly user calls themselves" Alix admitted. "I was sent here by one of their Akumas."

"Are they safe," Chloé asked, Knuckles turning white.

"What? who?"

"Are Alya, Kagami, Max, Nino, safe?" Chloé looking Alix in the eyes "are they safe"

Alix said nothing as she took a step back unintentionally completing Chloé's only objective, keeping her safe until she arrived to Abydos.

"Alix?" Chloé panic begining to feel the familiar tingling feeling of being dematerialized slowly engulf her body "I need to know, are they safe?"

Alix said nothing as she turned and ran towards Abydos, leaving behind Chloé who's beginning to become semi-transparent.

"Alix!" Chloé cried, reaching out towards her old friend, before finally dematerializing

……..

'Why did I entering this God forsaken car and why did we let Mordred drive,' Chloé thought as she dug her nails into the door handle as the car violently shook with every turn Mordred made.

"Damn it, the battle has started without us!" Mordred curse, slamming their foot against the gas pedal

"Y-yeah I can see that," Kairi said holding on for dear life "more importantly Saber, do you actually possess the Raiding skill!?"

"Yeah of course," Mordred said with a hint of excitement present in their voice "there's no horse that I can't master riding, I am a knight of the Round Table"

'Please don't let this be how I die, please don't let this be how I die, please don't let this be h-', Chloé mentally screamed as Mordred proceeded to make a quick donut causing the right side of the car to be lifted in the air for a few seconds before violently hitting the ground.

"Hey stop trying to defy the laws of physics!" Kairi yelled

"Be quiet! being this late to the battle it's disgraceful,"

"I knew I shouldn't have let you take the wheel!" Kairi yelled in a panic as Mordred smirked

"refrain from speaking master, you'll bite your tongue off" Mordred said before proceeding to drive off a cliff causing the mages in the car to scream out in fear.

__________

"Saber watch out, you're going to hit someone!" Chloé yelled as Mordred spun the wheel causing the car to spin, barely missing a pink haired girl in front of them.

As the car went to a stop Mordrake kick the door open sending it flying "You should really pick out a sturdier car next time," Mordred replied a tad bit annoyed.

"No car is capable of withstanding your crazy driving, you'll need an armored tank" Kairi said as Chloé spotted a grin appearing on the saber servant.

"You're Sabre of red," the pink-haired girl who nearly got hit moments ago said, catching the attention of the saber servant.

"Oh hey, you must be a servant of black," Mordred said with a wave as Chloé and Kairi exit out of the vehicle "I think?" The saber crouch a little bit to get a better look of the unknown servant.

Taking a better look, Chloé noticed how the pink-haired servants wore a long white cape with a velvet inside, her armor white with bits and pieces of black cloth exposed between the armor, curiously Chloé notices a long pink braid on the back of the girl.

"Yeah It's probably their Rider," Kairi said

"This one doesn't even look that strong,"

"Alright saber I'll let you handle the rest," Kairi said causing the Saber to turned around to face him "I'm out of here"

"Seriously? So you're not planning on staying to watch me fight?"

"We're kind of in the middle of a Battlefield you know,"

"I guess you have a point," Mordred said while still annoyed waved their hand towards the vehicle "hurry up and flee then"

"Alright," Kairi said before looking at Chloé "you coming?"

"If it's alright with you boss, I'm going to stay and watch," Chloé said as Kairi gave a quick nod before re-entering the vehicle and speeding off. turning to face the Knight of the round, Chloé noticed a smile on the Saber.

'Maybe that car ride wasn't so bad if it led me to this,' Chloé thought before turning to face the servant of black who materialized a large lance. Suddenly Mordred charged quickly materializing Clarent into their head as they took a swing at Rider who parried the attack with the Lance.  Using the Lance as a sword, Rider then proceeded to try to take a swing at Mordred but failed to land a hit on the rebellious knight only moving quick enough to block a strike.

"By the way Rider, rumor has it that Saber of black disappeared," Mordred said, barely adding weight into their strike, "did he?"

"Yeah that's right,"

"Why?" Chloé spoke up, catching the attention of the pair of servants

"An internal struggle I guess, But in the end he just decided to stay to his only beliefs, you know?"

"Are you kidding me? So what was this guy, some kind of Backwater knight or something?" Mordred asked before finally adding more strength in their attack causing the Rider to be pushed backwards a little bit before being launched by a sidekick, followed by the saber charging in with another strike that was blocked once again by the Rider.

"That loser croak cuz of some ideals? how stupid!" The knight mocked noticeably touching a nerve on the pink hair rider

"Okay maybe it was!" Rider said launching herself forward in an attempted to push Mordred off balance, realizing what the servant of black was attempting Mordred move out the way while also changing the direction of their strike causing the other servant to be fling into the air before rolling on the ground for a few seconds then finally landing on her feet.

"I won't deny that but don't you dare talk about him that way!" The Rider continued in rage "You're nothing more than a flashy Punk so you have no right throwing insults"

"Oh, you bark huh? Alright then" Mordred said before quickly materializing their armor, "I think that's enough idle chatter, My sword shall rust with your blood you mountless Rider"

The saber charged at the Rider once more, slashing and stabbing quickly with the Rider barely managing to block the attacks. Without hesitation Saber immediately swept the Rider off her feet with a sidekick, sending her flying backwards a few feet. Before the Servants of black could get back up Mordred pointed the tip of their blade against the Rider's throat

"This is the end Rider,"

"No wait!" A voice cried, catching the attention of Chloe and the two servants. turning to face the sound of the new voice, Chloé was surprised to see what appeared to be a lone homunculus in a battle stance, "Your opponent in this fight is me!"

Chapter Text

"Your opponent in this fight is me!" The homunculus said, arms shaking from the weight of the sword he held.

"You came back," Chloé heard the Rider say in surprise

'They know each other?' Chloé though staring at the Homunculus in curiosity

"Your real opponent is me," The homunculus shouted as Mordred turned to properly face the homunculus. The Knight of the round suddenly charged forward to slice the brave but foolish Homunculus in half before immediately being blocked and parried by the pink-haired Rider who jumped in front of the attack.

"Are you an idiot or something!?"

"I'm sorry but I-," the homunculus began to say before he as well as the rider were tossed to the side by a second attack from Mordred.

Slowly the rider began to stand up once again, using her lance to support her weight. "You were going to try to save me?" The rider said before immediately blocking another one of Mordred's strikes "I didn't risk my life for you just to return the favor!" The Rider shouted before glancing at the homunculus "What are you doing? Get out of here!" She shouted before being launched into the air by the knight.

"Rider!" The homunculus shouted in alarm before suddenly finding the tip of Mordred's sword at his neck.

"You're a homunculus aren't you?" Mordred question as Chloé took a step closer

"It's Sieg," the Homunculus now known as Sig replied, surprising Chloé and the saber servant "That is my name.. Sieg"

"Sieg huh?" Chloé heard the rider servant say.

Suddenly a green glow catches Chloé's eye, turning to face-it Chloé was surprised to see what appeared to be a girl clad in a wedding dress with a metal horn on her forehead with what appear to be two metal objects were her ears would be slamming a giant mace with green lightning coming out of it into Mordred.

"Damn you," Mordred grunted as the Berserker let out a screen sending them flying.

"Saber!" Chloé yelled in worry as a cloud of dust blocked her view of the red and white armored Knight. As the dust cleared,  much to her relief, Mordred stood intact. Causing the Berserker to growl.

"Just one after the other," the Saber commented resting their sword on their shoulder "saves me the effort of looking for them,"

Immediately the white dressed Berserker charged forward towards the Saber with a thunderous Roar. Mordred drew their sword once more and began blocking each and every hit from the Berserker, however the Berserker did the same with theirs. The battle seemed to be at a stalemate until Berserker of black finally managed to landay hit on Saber sending green lightning across their body, suddenly much to the Berserker's surprise Mordred grab hold to the staff of the mace.

"Berserker, it doesn't matter how many insignificant worms like you gather here," Mordred said coldly as they slowly lifted the mace into the air with their left arm as they charged Clarent with crimson red lightning with their right "did you really think you stood a chance against me?"

Steadily the green lightning began to charge faster as the Berserker let out a growled, suddenly Berserker managed to rip the mace out of Mordred's hand and launch themself backwards. Mordred effortlessly lifts the still engulfed clarent into the air before slamming it into the ground sending a shockwave of red lightning towards the berserk. As the Shockwave hits Berserker an explosion happened sending smoke and dust everywhere.

Slowly the Saber wordlessly began to walk towards where the Berserker once stood. Glancing toward the Berserker Chloe spotted them Shaking on the ground groaning in pain.

"You look so pathetic lying there… hmmm?" Mordred state before looking towards Berserker's left arm, noticing wiring sticking out of it while some still connected to the rest of the severed arm." You're not a Homunculus, you're just some patched-up defect" the Berserker let out a weak growl at the insult as Mordred stepped a foot closer lifting their sword before plunging it downwards killing Berserker. Slowly lifting it up Mordred flung the blood off it, suddenly Chloé spotted Sieg charging forward stabbing Saber's side.

'For a dead man, he had some balls I'll give him that,' Chloé though as Mordred took notice of the impalement as blood leaked out.

"That's it" Mordred said as their body glowed red "you bastard I'll kill you" letting out a Mana burst Mordred effortlessly flung Sieg several feet backward before he finally slammed into rock, the knight slowly walk towards the down Homunculus before kicking him square in the face sending him backwards once more.

"Sieg!" Chloé heard Rider yell as she continued to watch the homunculus be tossed around like a ragdoll.

"Are you satisfied now that you landed a blow at me? Why do you risk so much to fight?"

Slowly Sieg stood back up using his sword as support, "you want to know?" Sieg question, glaring at Mordred with a painfully familiar hatred "Because Rider saved me, that's all the reason that I need to fight!" Sieg let out a battle cry charging forward towards Mordred who only turned their body slightly to the left causing the Homunculus to miss. Mordred then grabs Sieg by the arm, turning him to face them before stabbing him through the chest. Quickly the Saber ripped the sword out of Sieg's chest causing him to fall forward.

"Homunculus, no Sieg, was it? I'll be sure not to forget that name"

"Damn you saber of red," Rider cursed, catching Mordred's as well as Chloé's attention. Chloé looked in surprise seeing that the Rider was fighting back tears " I will never ever forgive you, You monster!" The Rider yells standing once more holding her lance in rage.

Mordred proceeded to charge once more towards the rider as the Rider took a swing. The pair clashed blades several times before the Saber of red through the Rider back onto the floor.  Going in for the kill Mordred proceeded to lift Clarent into the air before pausing.

"What is it, Master?" Mordred questions as Chloé raised an eyebrow at the servant. "About that," Saber turned their head to face where the Berserker servant fell, Chloé doing the same was surprised to find that the Berserker was gone leaving behind their weapons standing up.

"what's that?" Mordred began to question before suddenly Berserker jumped on top of them yelling in a rage.

"Berserker," Rider said in surprise as the Berserker began to pull the wires connected to their severed arm farther out before proceeding to use it as a rope against Mordred's throat.

The Berserker let out a yell as green lightning emerged from their body as their mace lifted off the ground and hovered above the pair. Suddenly the mace began to open up and spin, blinding Chloé for a few seconds.

"Is that Berserker's Noble Phantasm," Rider asked in surprise as Chloé felt every part of her body telling her to run.

Suddenly the lightning emerges from the mace shot upwards appearing to resemble that of a tree.

"But master I-" the Rider began to shout as Chloé realized her Master was telepathically speaking to her.

"Damn you," Chloé heard Mordred yell at the Berserker as they struggled to free themselves.

The lightning from both Berserker as well as the mace began to grow brighter as every hair on Chloé's body stood up from the electricity build in the air

"I will take…. you with me...Saber!" The Berserker screamed out as a green ball of light engulfed the pair before exploding into a larger tree of lightning launching Chloé several feet backwards.

Chloé felt pain from every part of her body as rolled across the ground before finally stopping. groaning, she slowly began to push herself up before falling back onto one knee coughing up blood.

"Ridiculous….. utterly ridiculous," Chloé groaned before slowly tempting to stand up once more, doing so she felt pain across her right arm glancing at it she notice it was dislocated, "shit, this is going to-" she began to say before screaming out in pain as she forcefully pushing it back into place. Once the painful task was done she glanced forward, eyes widening at the sight of a massive crater where Berserker and Mordred stood. "No, No, Saber!"

Chloé quickly limped over towards the crater, spotting the Rider do the same. As Chloé was about to reach the edge she heard Rider let out a Gasp, peering over the edge Chloé's eyes widened as a smile began to form on her face with tears threatening to break as she spotted Mordred standing armored scorched and broken breathing heavily.

"H-how are you still alive," Rider asked in shock, face twisted in fear, the Saber looking up at the rider only responded with a shit eating grin.

"Saber!" Chloé cried out in joy as the Saber slowly climbed out of the crater, as soon as the knight finish the former Bee Hero tackled hug them barely moving the knight an inch

"Hey to you too," the Saber chuckled before Chloé hit them on they're still armored shoulder, "what was that for?" The knight of the round asks, a smile still on their face.

"don't you dare ever scare me like that again," Chloé said before hugging the servant once again. Chloé felt an arm wrap around her as the servant pulled her in.

"Don't worry, I promise"

Chapter Text

"Man, I'm beat," Mordred sighed, as a red glow continued to repair their armor and heal their wounds. Rolling their completely healed left shoulder, Mordred made a hand motion towards Chloé likely to something Kairi telepathically said "It's fine, I managed to take one down so that should make up for it." Mordred spoke, confirming the ex-Heroes suspicions.

Suddenly the Rider of Black let out a surprise gasp, turning to see what she's looking at Chloe's eyes widen in Surprise at the sight of what appear to be saber of black

"Hey master," Mordred began, not breaking eye contact with the other Saber. "Let me confirm, Saber of black was supposed to be dead right?...Okay then who the hell is this saber standing before me?" Mordred asks Kairi, before pausing a realization seemingly hitting them "No way, the Homunculus?"

"Sieg?" Chloé asks in Surprise, earning a nod from the saber of red.

"The Homunculus I killed earlier turned into a servant," Mordred state to the likely confuse necromancer

"You're kidding," Rider said not believing her eyes "but how"

"Are you alright?" The newly made servant asked the rider

"Seriously you're such a big idiot,"

"Understood, time to chalk up one more," Mordred said, lifting Clarent over their head before swinging it down. "Yo, phony Saber, is that guise just as fake as you are? That big old sword there isn't made of paper mache, is it?"

"As you have surmised I am merely a fake, however this sword and this power are quite real I assure you"

"I see well. Let's test it out then shall we?!" Mordred said before charging. The pair of Sabers clashed swords neither of them seemingly having the advantage over the other.

"I'm not the only one getting tired of sitting on the sidelines right?" Chloé glanced at the Rider servant who simply shrugged in response. Suddenly Sieg manage to land hits on Mordred sending them a few feet backwards

"Damn it,  that Homunculus actually turned into a servant, hey Master can you tell what his weakness is I need something….... Wow that's some great advice for my good-for-nothing master…. Heh Sounds good to me with that type of boost I'm sure I'll cut right through him….…  right I won't let you down master"

'I really wish I knew what the fuck they were talking about', Chloé thought as Mordred engulfed in red lightning charged forward towards the fake saber. Both servants clash going faster than Chloé's eyes can track, Thankfully the pair finally slow down as the the swords of the two servants slammed against each other sending sparks flying in every direction.

"Humph! A mere imitation!" Mordred yelled as crimson lightning appeared on their body launching Sieg across the battlefield. The fake servant repeatedly hit the ground before finally stopping, pushing himself back up he put both hands on his sword.

"Arise my sword," Sieg said twisting the handle of his blade as a blue light engulfed the blade increasing it's length

"A noble phantasm?" Mordred asked as their helmet came apart recombining into their armor, "very well with my masters permission," they began putting their hands on Clarent's hilt, "I'll take you one with my own Noble Phantasm" suddenly Clarent's blade roared to life in crimson red lightning "get ready saber of black"

"Come, saber of red," the saber of black called back as both blades clashed towards each other in a blaze of glorious light engulfing the night sky in purple light and tearing up the very Earth beneath them as if it were nothing. When the light finally faded, dust-covered the battlefield once more. As the dust began to rest once again both sabers panted heavily with cuts all over their body and their armor shattered.

"What! how the hell are you still alive," Mordred asked in both surprise and anger, their entire upper half of their armor gone with blood dripping from the side of their face.

"I cannot afford to collapse now, just a bit longer," Sieg said through several heavy breaths before forcing himself to stand up tall once more. "Come on Sabre red!"

Mordred's surprise faded and was quickly replaced with interest. " you have some nerve you defective Saber!" suddenly clarent began to glow in red lightning once more. "although someone of your level is still nowhere near being a match against the great king of knights," Mordred said, entering a Battle Stance, a smile crept upon their face "This time I'll make sure you stay dead"

The two servants charge at each other once more clashing blades, though unlike before Mordred appears to get more annoyed the more they clashed.

"The hell is with you bastard," Mordred said seemingly having finally put the sabre of black on the ropes "Just die already, how can you still be able to fight like this?! it's a complete insult to the king of knights!" Mordred demanded before side kicking Sieg, sending him backwards several feet before he face-planted onto the ground.

"Sieg!" The Rider yelled running towards the fallen saber.

As the Saber attempted to stand the marking on his chest much to Chloé's surprise, began to Blink before finally disappearing. "It seems I've already hit my limit," Sieg stated slowly attempting to stand.

"Sieg," Rider said in confusion and worry "hold on your body it's" the Rider began before being interrupted by Mordred who let out a laugh.

"I don't get it but I guess it's finally over," Mordred began a triumphant smirk spread across their face "considering you weren't the real deal you never stood a-" Mordred began before being interrupted by some large abomination charging directly at them giving them only a mere few seconds to block it. "Berserker of red?!"

'That thing is berserk?!' Chloe thought in alarm as the abomination attempted to push Mordred back.

"Hey oppressor, fall to ruin by my love!" The Berserker of red yelled in joy as it slammed parts of its body mass forward launching Mordred.

"Damn it you disgusting meat balloon," Mordred yelled charging clarent once more before quickly charging forward slicing the monstrosity in half. "What a joke"

Slowly much to Chloé's horror and disgust, the monstrosity slowly begins expanding while putting itself back together, slowly giant yellow glowing spores begin to grow on the abomination.

"That guy," Mordred said in disgust, jumping backwards as the Abomination continued to expand. "How gross, Chlo were leaving" the Saber quickly said before bridal carrying Chloé and running.

"you don't have to tell me…. twice?" Chloé began, looking over Mordred's shoulder before blinking in surprise upon seeing a blond-haired girl in some sort of battle-dress holding a lance... no a flag moving towards the rider of black and Sieg. "looks like they called for backup"

Suddenly the ground shook slightly as the abomination that was once a Berserker moved slightly as the spores on its body pulse with purple electricity coming off it.

"Saber, you'll move faster in spirit form, save yourself"

"Like hell I'm am, WE'RE both going to make it, you have my word"

"THE TIME HAS COME ," Chloé heard the Berserker of red shouted as the yellow spores began pulsing faster with the purple glow brighter. " THIS BLOW WILL DESTROY EVERY FORM OF OPPRESSION AND CRUSH ALL WHO HOLDS AUTHORITY IN THIS LAND…...THIS IS SPARTACUS!

Suddenly the Abomination exploded in purple light destroying everything in its path. Chloé closed her eyes in fear as the Saber of red slid down something, a blast of heat rocket above them as the ground violently shook, Chloé felt something cover her. It felt like hours before the ground finally went still and the temperature returned to normal, slowly opening her eyes Chloé found herself protected in the knight of the round's arms.

"See told you we'll make it," Mordred said before slowly removing their arms from Chloé.

"R-right, I didn't doubt it for a second," Chloé started, face red earning a small chuckle form the knight, looking around Chloé spotted that the pair ended up in a trench line. Suddenly the wind started to pick up "okay what the hell is going on now?"

As the pair quickly made their way out of the trench they spotted what appeared to be a floating Fortress with a massive tornado underneath it above Yggdmillennia's base of operation. Slowly the tornado lifted a large glowing rock from the castle to the floating Fortress.

"Is that what I think it is?"

The Saber in question only nodded in response before pausing, "Chloé, Master wants us to head back for pickup"

……......

Moments after returning to her domain Chloé let out a sigh as she materialized her red long coat, the wind within her domain picked up causing the sky to darken, making her way to a hill that housed her oldest weapons she encountered long before her deal with Alaya was formed. Moving her way to the top her eyes landed on weapons once belonging to old friends, enemies even a few akumas. Continuing forward she spotted Kanshou and Bakuya, While the swords hold a great deal of sentimental value for Chloé they're not the things she was looking for. Moving past the twin swords, Chloé spotted the five weapons she was looking for. A black staff with yellow tips, a red sword with three symbols in the center of the cross-guard, a large round turtle shell pattern shield, A shiny dark gray staff with a green paw print, and finally a silver and red broadsword. Letting out a sigh Chloé sat against the mighty sword once wielded by Mordred and stared at the other four weapons, wishing the items used by the rest of her former comrades were weapons or non firearms so she would have something to remember them by.

I was sent here by one of Monarch's Akumas

"Was my sacrifice really for nothing?" Chloé question, silently cursed Alix for refusing to tell what was the status of their remaining teammates. "Did anything happen to the rest of you?" she hated herself for not being there to protect all of them in the first place, though a part of her knew that even if she didn't leave Paris in the first place, she wouldn't have been strong enough to protect them when Shadowmoth had gotten desperate enough to attack the identity exposed heroes for any info on Ladybug and Chat Noir. Hell, not even Alya, who apparently had the fox miraculous with her, stood a chance.

No matter what she could have done, she would have been powerless to save anying of them, Alya would have still ended up in a wheelchair, Kagami would have still lost her arm, Nino would have still lost his eyes, Juleka's brother would still have been killed and Kim would still have been put into a coma.

"Counter Guardian," the disembodied voice of Alaya spoke breaking Chloé out of her train of thought "a new singularity has been detected."

"what's… what's my mission," Chloé glanced upwards with a sigh, shoving her emotions and painfull thoughts to the back of her mind as she tried to focus.

"France, 1431 AD, eliminate the Dragon Witch, Jeanne d'Arc"

Slowly upon materializing Chloé couldn't help but look around as a small but weak smile formed on her face."good to be home, even if this is even if it's years before my time….. let's get to work," Chloé began walking before immediately stopping as information entered her mind.  Glancing upwards Chloé was surprised to see what appeared to be a giant ring of light in the sky, roughly the size of a continent if Chloé were to guess."I'm….I'm not going to question that"

slowly Chloé began making her way towards what appeared to be a damage fort in the distance "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous,"

……….

"It seems Sieg and Rider survived no sign of the other servant though," Chloé pointed out as the ex-hero and knight made their way back, the pair almost in earshot of the servant of black and the homunculus.

"Goo-," Mordred began before pausing at the sight of what appeared to be a member of Yggdmillennia given her uniform, March towards Rider and Sieg.

The member of Yggdmillennia, likely Rider's master, seems to have said something given how Rider jumped in surprise. Moving closer The Saber of red as well as the former hero could somewhat begin to hear the conversation between master and servant.

"Hey Rider, remind me what is your true name?" The master of Rider, likely Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia, questioned.

"Astolfo, I was one of the twelve Heroes of Charlemagne," the now revealed Astolfo stated, surprising Chloé.

"That's not true at all, you're nothing more than a servant," a frown appeared on Chloé's face as Celenike continue "an inferior copy of the heroic spirit Astolfo"

"my daughter's ineptitude? I think it speaks for itself, doesn't it?"

Her hand twitch slightly, as Astolfo frowned slightly, "Hmmm, well I guess you could say that but I respectfully disagree,"

Suddenly Celenike put both of her hands against her scalp and began violently shaking her own head "because you're a mere copy, I honestly don't think of you as Astolfo at all. You're just a Servant, a minion, A TOY," blood began to drift off of the master of Rider's head as Chloé's hands turned to fist.

" Chloé just clearly demonstrated that there is nothing exceptional about her,"

"And Yet, and yet and yet you still ran off like a careless idiot all to save ONE OF COUNTLESS OTHER FLIES, YOU EMBARRASS ME AND BROUGHT ME SHAME!"

"You've ruined our name and our reputation! Your lucky I don't throw you out myself!"

She felt rage being to fill her mind as Astolfo took a back, quickly the rider glanced at the homunculus "ah.. Sieg, you should really get out of here"

The deranged Master of black quickly put something to her hand before throwing it at Sieg, causing him to fall onto his ass as a dark purple glow emitted from his right leg.

"That's no good Rider, pests need to be exterminated properly" Celenike said the rage in her voice replaced with a sickening pleasant tone

"Stop it, Master!" Astolfo cried

"What a shame," Ignoring the Rider's pleas, the master looked at her hands. "Killing a fly with my own hands is so unpleasant. Oh, wait, that's right! That's exactly what a minion is for!"

Rider's face twisted in horror as Celenike raised her hand as it slowly begins to glow in red "the fourth Master of Black orders with a command spell, I want you to kill that Homunculus right away!"

A Red glow surrounds Rider before fading as Rider is forced to summon his Lance and turn towards Sieg. Trying to fight back Rider slowly lifts the lancer "get out the way now" Astolfo cries before quickly slamming Lance down barely missing Sieg.

"Master, stop this! I beg of you, there's no point his death would just be meaningless," Rider continue to beg trying to resist the command spell.

"Meaningless? Hardly I'm sure killing him will cause you to lament, you'll feel nothing but despair soon the proud knight who boast of justice will squirm misery,"

"Sorry but I won't give in," Rider stated as he attempted to resist, slowly Chloé spotted a purple glow emitted from the servant's body.

Unable to stomach what laid before her nor the rage and memories filling her mind for any longer, Chloé pulled Bakuya and Kanshou out and moved forward.

"Damn that Noble Phantasm, since you seem to be resisting I'll have to use a second command spell!"

"Don't do it, that's enough please Master stop this!"

"Oh yes that's wonderful, this is amazing! feel the despair, twist your face in grief. I will completely ruin you while you have that pathetic look on your face," Celenike crackled out in excitement as Chloe spotted Sieg try to push himself up.

"Stop it! What's the point of making Rider do this? This is your servant we're talking about" Sieg shouted. Without saying a word Celenike slowly walks over to the down Homunculus.

"Shut up, shut up!" The Master of Black shouted as she repeatedly kicked the down Homunculus."it's your fault, all of this is because of you so don't you dare get cocky with me Homunculus. So why don't you do your job and DIE ALREADY" suddenly she stopped mid kick, adjusting her stands she brushed off the side of her leg. "Oops that was close, almost killed him myself. Alright Rider first  use your Lance to crush his legs then you can tear off his arm and finally rip off his head slowly."

"No," the Rider of black refused, closing his eyes and looking away, not noticing Chloé pass right by him.

Just like her servant Celenike remained blissfully unaware of the ex-hero's presents, "the four master of Black-"

"Gets to shut the hell up," Chloé quickly raises Kanshou into the air and slashed it downwards removing Celenike's right hand.

Celenike screams out in pain before quickly falling to her knees holding the stub that once was her right arm to her chest. Looking at her handiwork for a second, Chloé thrust both Bakuya and Kanshou forward at the same time as a white and red blade swung towards the neck of Celenike.

'seems Mordred had the same idea,' Chloé thought, watching with surprise as not only her twin blades penetrated the master of Rider but Clarent quickly removed the madwoman's head. Pushing the dead Mage forward Chloé pulled her swords out.

Putting her swords away Chloé turned and spotted Kairi's car driving towards them before stopping. Glancing towards the saber Chloé spotted them staring at the down homunculus for a few seconds before turning, walking towards Kairi with Chloé a few seconds behind them.

"We're heading to our allies in the Fortress,"

"You mean the floating Fortress?" Chloé began gesturing towards the Fortress flying away from them "unless you're hiding a jet in the trunk of that car I think that's out of the realm of possibilities right now."

" I can think of a few ways," Mordred said, sliding into the driver's seat of the car before either Mage could stop them.

……….

Roughly one or two miles away from the fort, Chloé spotted movement. Pausing Chloé began focusing on it, revealing French soldiers fighting against Dragons, more precise wyverns.

debating whether or not she should interfere, Chloé spotted a large black round object slammed against one of the wyverns,  focusing on it she realized it was a giant shield being held by a pink short haired girl.

"Trace analyzed." a minor surge of energy emitted from Chloé's eyes, as fragmented information began entering her mind. analyzing a weapon through sight alone will take a significantly amount of time, even on the weapon's more recent information to be gathered

Lord Camelot

Noble Phantasm of Ǧ̵̬͙̉a̷̻͇͍̗̋̑̔l̵̛̮̝̙̓̅a̵̹̖̲̾h̵̨̪̏́a̵̟͉̫͛̒̃͘d̷̳͇̻̤̈̎̂ Mash Kyrielight

"Lord Camelot... how did this Kyrielight acquire a noble phantasm from a member of the Round Table," Chloé questioned as she searched for more information the shield was present for.

Relevant information found:

Mash Kyrielight: I don't remember how it happened but it seems I have survived by fusing with a servant. To investigate and resolve Singularity F, a servant was provided in advance at Chaldea. This servant lost its master in that explosion and was Doom to vanish. But at the last second, he offered me a contract. In return for the abilities and Noble Phantasm of a heroic Spirit he wanted me to eliminate the cause of this singularity.

?????: a heroic spirit and a human, fused… A demi-servant? That's Chaldea's sixth experiment. I see. So it finally succeeded, huh? Does this heroic Spirit still have his consciousness?

"Chaldea huh?" Chloé raised an eyebrow, continuing playing the conversation in her mind.

Mash:....No, he gave me his combat abilities then vanished.

Chloé about to continue sifting through information before spotting a familiar blonde haired servant using her flag as a spear. Immediately Chloé summoned her bow and took aim. "Sorry Jeanne, I'll make it quick and as painle-" Chloé stopped mid-sentence as much to her surprise the alleged 'Dragon witch' used her flag to attack a wyvern.

Slowly Chloé lowered her bow in confusion, "why would she attack her own troops? Something ain't right here." Quickly glancing at the sword that rested on the Saint's left for the split second it was visible "Trace analyze"

As Chloé began reading through the new found information from the saint's sword, questions began to form in her mind. "This can't be right Jeanne was summoned only a few hours ago? Yet the information from Alaya states that her reign of terror started three days ago...what the hell?"

For a few minutes longer Chloé watched the two servants finish all of the rest of the wyverns before regrouping with an unknown third individual, possibly Kyrielight's Master. Letting out a sigh Chloe dematerialized her bow and moved forward.

For now my best bet is watching from a distance until I know what exactly is going on. Chloé thought, watching the three retreat to nearby forests before slowly following.

__________

'Really wish I had presence concealment right now,' Chloé thought as she try to get as close as she can to the trio without being sense though thankfully she was withing ear shot of them.

"I think we can settle down here," Jeanne said to her other two companion. "Please tell me your names"

"Understood, my Name is Mash Kyrielignt," the pink hair stated before gesturing at her companion "this is Ritsuka Fujimaru, my Master."

"Master? So there are Masters even in this Holy Grail War,"

"No, it has nothing to do with the Holy Grail War," Kyrielight clarified "I am just a Demi-Servant"

"Demi-Servant?"

"Not a true heroic spirit, have you heard of us?"

There was a momentary pause from the Jeanne before she let out a sigh,"...right We should probably clear that up first" she began, Chloé lean forward in from her perch in the trees. " I am indeed a servant, my class is Ruler. I understand that but.... a majority of information about the Holy Grail War that should be provided is missing, no not just information my stats have ranked down and not only have I lost the anti servant command spells I can't even reveal their true names anymore,"

'That's... probably both extremely concerning yet also a relieved if I were to fight her head on,' Chloé thought, believing the ruler's words, had it been a certain other ruler on the other hand Chloe would have been far more skeptical.

"That Soldier earlier was saying that Jeanne d'Arc turned into a 'dragon witch'," Mash questioned snapping Chloé out of her train of thought

"Having just materialized a few hours ago, I'm not sure what's going on. It seems there is another Jeanne d'Arc in this world... A Jeanne that murdered King Charles VII of France, and committed the slaughter at Orleans,"

"So dose that mean two of the same servants have been summoned in the same era?,"

'That...that would explain so much,' relooking at the information she was given as well as the information she gathered with the mind of two separate Jeannes running removed almost all of the previous confusion. "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," Chloé mumbled under her breath before beginning to listen to the trio once more.

Chapter Text

It's been a little under an hour since the pair from Chaldea and Jeanne continue their way through the forest,  to say Chloé was relieved would be an understatement as Kyrielight's dog? fox? Whatever it is, nearly alerted the trio of the Counter Guardian's presents a few times at their makeshift camp.

"First, let's cut through this forest and head to Orleans," Chloé heard the Saint say on the ground beneath her. " Of course it will be difficult to enter directly but we might be able to get some information from the surrounding towns and forts."

"Right," the pair of Chaldea replied in unison  before quickly following the ruler.

……….

"Told you it would work," Mordred chuckled, moving their arms slightly to allow Chloé to get down, "Though, You could have warned me you were scared of heights "

Taking a second to catch her breath, Chloé stood up tall, "I'm not scared of heights, you giving the middle finger to physics as you somehow jump all the way up here without any warning startled me!" Chloé explained receiving a chuckle from Mordred as a reply "anyway remember the plan?"

"Split up and find the other members of red, regroup with the person that finds them if something bad happens on your end I'll go and retrieve you, something on my end you return here so I can get you out," the knight nodded as Chloé toss a burner phone towards them, the saber effortlessly catching it. The pair quickly split off.

……….

"We're almost at La Charite," Jeanne revealed as the group began to leave the forest causing Chloé to let out a silent curse at the lack of tree cover in between where she stood and the group's Target destination

'Great really wish I can go to Spirit form right now,' Chloé silently complain

"If we can't get any information here about Orleans we'll have to get closer I'd rather avoid that as much as possible, as long as I am still uncertain about the forces we have we cannot engage,"

"You seem really calm about this," Fujimaru pointed out

"...No, to be honest, I'm panicking. No matter how you look at it, the other 'me' cannot be in her right mind. What that monster will do by controlling the people it's easy to imagine. overwhelming power and hatred can easily destroy a person no matter how noble they are"

'You could say that again,' Chloé thought, letting out an audible sigh causing Kyrielight's pet to look in her Direction. Taking her chances Chloe jump to another tree closer to the group.

"Two servants detected, one just ahead of your current path and one directly behind you!" the voice of the chaldea duo's mission handler Romani, if Chloé heard correctly the previous night, shouted from Fujimaru's bracelet, both starling Chloé and causing the group to immediately go on guard

'Shit,' Chloe mentally cursed, slowly moving deeper into the foliage of the tree.

"Reveal yourself," Jeanne exclaimed as Kyrielight moved in front of her Master.

"That's not good, the one further up ahead is in La Charite, wait it's moving away." Romani said briefly, distracting the Trio."I just lost it"

"Fou! Fou!!" The pet of Kyrielight cried jumping onto the shielders shoulder.

"What is it Fou?" Kyrielight asks, sparing a quick glance towards the direction Fou is looking in, her eyes widened in alarm as her body stiffened "Charite it's burning!"

"We'll have to forget about the other servant for now, we need to help the town." Ruler exclaimed, taking one less brief glance at the forest before running.

The pair from Chaldea slowly following after her, Kyrielight leading the rear, shield still facing the forest for a minute or two before running to catch up to Fujimaru.

'That's a relief,' Suddenly a crack could be heard from the branch she stood on, "oh shit" was all Chloe could say as the branch gave way.

……….

Passing through several dimly lit corridors, Chloé finally caught sight of a faint glow bleeding from the end of the hall. The muffled sounds of a brief skirmish echoed through a shattered doorway ahead. Hugging the wall, she pressed herself to the left side of the frame and risked a peek.

The sight nearly stole her breath.

Kotomine alongside Semiramis, stood calmly at the opposite end of the room. A extremely pale man with white hair stood in front of both, an arrow in his hand that seemingly was aimed at Assassin's head. Beyond the trio however stood almost every single servant of both factions being present, including Ruler to boot.

For a brief and terrible instant, her eyes seared with pain as her eyes landed on the weapons the servants held as well as the dozens of black keys that surround the ash pile that laid in the center of the room. She winced, clutching her head, struggling to keep her focus before the pain vanished.

"You pierce the scales of a divine fish with such ease," Semiramis, complimented as a purple glyph appearing behind her "With that said Rider, I simply will not allow you to come even close to killing our master,"

Suddenly purple chains launch towards the green haired servant. With a swift leap backward, Rider narrowly avoided being bound, his weapon cleaving through several chains more before Assassin ceased her attack.

'The Hell is going on? Rider attack Kotomine? and... wait did Semiramis say 'our master?' Chloé thought, quickly calling Mordred on her phone.

"Lancer, are you really just going to accept this?" demanded a green and blonde bow-woman, likely archer of red.

"There are questions to be answered, we should postpone any violence until then" The white haired man, now revealed Lancer, explained.

"Thank you very much," Kotomine replied.

"Spare me your gratitude," Lancer shot back coldly, "I have not yet approved of this change of Masters,"

Unfazed, Kotomine looked at the rest of the room, "Alright then, shall we continue the fight between Servants of red and black?" Kotomine asked, before continuing "I do have a suggestion though, it would be wise to surrender, understand? Join the red faction considering the situation I believe what I'm asking for is quite reasonable"

"Surrender, you say?" One of the Servants of black, an Archer seemingly of Greek origin ask "To be honest, I don't believe that the current situation is that dire for us"

Semiramis’ smile widened, "Oh really? I find it quite odd that you speak with such a sharp tongue. Considering that you seem to be in the belly of the beast," Semiramis pointed out causing Rider of red to looked annoyed

"Perhaps you should confirm which of your allies are still with you" Archer of black pointed out.

"Avicebron, how do you feel about this?" Kotomine asked, causing several Servants of both sides to turn towards the servant in question. He wore a featureless mask, a full-body suit, as well as a blue mantle.

"Surrender how utterly foolish..... is what I should say, however it would seem you're rather knowledgeable about the greater Grail"

"That is correct, I know everything about it," Kotomine confirmed.

"My wish isn't one that concerns the Holy Grail though we may still have similar interests," the caster explained surprising Archer of black.

"Caster, what are you trying to get at?" Archer asked.

"Even so I have one condition," the Caster continued, ignoring Archer.

"And what would that be?" Kotomine asks.

"Do not harm my master," Caster stated, surprising Chloé with a seemingly innocent condition, :A fitting condition for surrender, yes?"

Kotomine simply nodded with a smile as Semiramis stepped forward. "oh my how noble of you, choosing to yield to us in exchange for your Master's safety"

"What exactly are you doing?" Archer of black questioned, seeming to pick up an ulterior motive from the Caster.

"I have a dream I've been longing to fulfill, Archer, in order to do that I'll gladly set aside my pride and morals"

"I see," Archer said before quickly drawing his bow and launching an arrow at the Castor "traitor!"

The arrow that would have likely pierce through the casters skull had it not been for something Chloé was unable to see reflecting it into the ceiling.

"Do not destroy my Hanging Gardens, Archer of black" the assassin warned.

"Although we haven't made a pact with each other," Ketamine said, his smile not once left his face. "May I ask if you to take care of them"

"Very well, Master," the Caster obeyed, snapping his fingers. The ground shuddered as hulking stone golems erupted into being, lumbering forward

Chloé pulled out a pair of smoke bombs, that Kairi give her just in case, off her belt.

"I'm a bit reluctant about doing this," Kotomine started, "but afraid you're in my way Ruler, you will be purged alongside Archer of black"

"Out of my way!" The blonde-hair servant Ruler yellled, slamming down her flagpole shattering two of the Stone Golems.

"Ruler," Semiramis snarled, lifting her right hand as a purple glyph appeared above her. Lunching several chains towards the ruler.

"Saber you need to get over here now," Chloé whispered-yelled into her phone

Ruler immediately turned around and blocked the chains with her flagpole "Please stand down,"

Before Chloé could hear Mordred’s reply, her call cut. Footsteps thundered behind her. Archer of black also seem to have noticed as he slightly lowered his bow

"They have arrived," Lancer stated as a crimson red blur streaked vaulted past Chloé.

Saber's blade sang as it cleaved through a golem right down the middle.

"What?!" Semiramis questioned in surprise, as Kotomine let out a small laugh.

"I see now so you were our saber, the treacherous knight Mordred,"

"Hey asshole," Mordred barked back, Clarent glowing crimson in their grip, "No one give you permission to use my name!" With a roar, Mordred let out a burst of Mana shattering the remaining golems with ease.

"Are you betraying us saber," Semiramis snapped, her voice sharp with disbelief.

"What are you a dumbass?" Mordred questioned back, pointing Clarent towards the Assassin, "I guess you already forgot you try to deceive both my master and my friend, anyone who messes with either of them is an enemy of mine!"

"Well as a traitor I guess you won't be needing your head," Assassin of red stated the glyph above her pulsing.

Chloé felt her phone vibrate for a split-second looking towards it she knows a text from Kairi, telling her to lunch her smoke grenades

"Bring it on you bitch!" Mordred bellowed, charging towards the Assassin.

"Foolish girl!" Assassin yelled, likely further pissing Mordred off, as several chains launched forward.

Before the clash could unfold, Chloé hurled the grenades into the chamber. Smoke exploded outward, choking the air and cloaking the battlefield in a dense gray haze.

Mordred paused for a moment, before twisting to face Archer of Black and Ruler through the smoke, "Hey let's go!"

The two hesitated only a moment before bolting for the doorway, barely missing the ex-hero.

Chloé began to stand as Mordred ran up next to her. The knight let out a smirk before facing the smoke once more "See yah you stink bug woman!" Mordred shouted toward Semiramis, scooping Chloé into their arms and bolting.

Chloé clutched onto them tightly, fighting back a blush, "Well that was fun," Chloé sarcastically stated before pausing as realization hit her, "...how are we getting out of here?"

"the same way we got here,"

Chloé groaned, burying her face against the knight’s shoulde, "of course we are"

……….

"Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," Chloé mumbled slowly, standing up brushing dirt and leaves off herself, continuing forward until she spotted Fujimaru's group a short distance away. Going into a light sprint Chloe noticed the Trio stop a few feet within the burning town resulting in Chloe stopping, still a decent distance away. "Now what do you see?"

Looking closely Chloé spotted the two servants enter a defensive stance as moving corpses begin crawling out of the rubble towards them "zombies great, just gre-" Chloé paused spotting another zombie crawl out of the pile of rubble directly behind the underwear Trio or to be more precise directly behind Fujimaru "shit,"

Without hesitation Chloé materialized her bow, took aim and fired. Her arrow pierced the skull of the zombie before it could take another step forward towards the now startled master of chaldea. Before Fujimaru could react Chloé spotted movement closing in on the Trio, wyverns who immediately began devouring the Corpses of the fallen. Chloé fired several more arrows piercing the eyes of a few wyverns that stray a little too close to Fujimaru. As the battle came to an end Fujimaru seemed to have alerted the two servants of Chloé's arrows as Ruler walked over to one of the arrows before stopping and turning around, tightening her grip on her flagpole. Confused Chloe looked into the direction that the Saint turned to, spotting five wyverns carrying…. Servants on their backs.

"Seems I'm just getting started"

Chapter Text

'This can't be good,' Chloé thought as a cold chill ran down her spine, entering the town she spotted five servants dismounting wyverns and approaching the ruler's group.

Quickly and as silently as she could Chloé hid behind the ruins of a building, glancing around the corner Chloé spotted each of the new five servants.  her eyes wide at the sight of the servant leading the group of servants,  'Jeanne'. While the servant looked somewhat like she did during the Great Holy Grail War, everything about her was wrong. Her skin was paler, her blue eyes turned yellow, her hair cut short and now almost pure white and her armor, flag and cape darker.

Glancing at the other four servants Chloé was relieved that the two out of them had weapons  not only visible but were weapons that she could analyze, "Trace analyze," the words but a whisper left Chloé's mouth as the Names of the trio began to slowly enter her mind

The first of the Duo Chevalier d'Eon, a saber servant if the counter guardian were to guess given the sabre in hand, wearing a blue cavalier with a pink feather and a light pink flower like cape.

Chloé's eyes widened in a panic as she analyzed the Lance held by the other servant, the servant in question being none other than Vlad the Impaler himself, a platinum blonde haired pale skin man with a goatee, wearing nothing but black and blue with minor white aesthetics.

'So that's what Vlad looks like,' Chloé thought with minor concern as she recalled the words of the bastard priest.

A servant's strength is affected by their reputation,  especially here in Romania, he be summoned as a hero not as a vampire

'Since we're not in Romania he would have likely been summoned as Dracula… which if I play my cards right could work out in my favor,' Chloé thought while materializing a few black keys. Chloé's eyes briefly drifted to the third and fourth servants in the party.

The first servant, a purple haired fair skin woman wearing robes with a cross cut down the middle, in her right hand she held a giant Cross. The other servant's clothing was a revealing red dress with metal chains and spikes covering it, her eyes a golden yellow covered by a mask resembling a bat and her skin and hair was white as snow with a crown appearing on her head shaped similar to that of bat ears, she held a two-handed staff in her hand with the top of it rested  a pair of blades shaped as bat wings.

"What, on Earth? Who knew such a thing could happen" The dark Jeanne began catching Chloé's attention "Could someone please pour some water on me, this is bad. It's awful. I think I'm really going to lose it, it's so funny I might die from laughing!" The servant crackled.

The Ruler tightened her grip on her flag though it went unnoticed by her darkened counterpart as she continued,"take a look Gilles! Look at that pathetic girl! What is she a wimp? A mouse? A worm? Either way they're all the same! So puny I can't even muster any sympathy! Ah… truly— a country that could only come to "me" comparing them to mice is an insult to mice," the dark Jeanne continued, "Hey Gilles, don't you think so—," Jeanne continue to turn into a right only to find no one standing there "oh, I see, we didn't bring Gilles along"

"You…who are you?" The Rule demanded, earning a raised eyebrow from her counterpart

"I could ask the same of you… right as a leader let me answer that. I am Jeanne d'Arc, the saint devoted to France"

"What? That's nonsense, you are no saint. Just as I am no saint. More importantly, why did you attack this town?"

"Why, you ask? As the same Jeanne d'Arc, I thought you would understand. The reason I attacked this city? Isn't it obvious? For the sole purpose of destroying France," the alternate Jeanne explains with a sadistic grin slowly appearing on her face, " political and ecommerce would take too long. Is it not better to Simply physically Crush everything?"

"Such foolishness!"

"The foolish ones are us, Jeanne d'Arc. Why do you want to save this country? Why do you want to bring Salvation to these people? All the while knowing that they're the ones who spit on and betrayed us"

"That is—"

"I will no longer be fooled. I will no longer be betrayed and I do no longer hear the voice of the Lord. The fact that I cannot hear His voice means the Lord no longer blesses this country. So I will destroy it and in accordance to the Lord's grief I will cut away all the bad seeds at the roots," the dark D'Arc declared, "As long as the human race exists, so will my hatred. I will remake this France into a Land of the Dead. That's how I will save this country by the hands of the new Jeanne d'Arc, reborn through death. I suppose you can never understand always playing the saint. Impossible for a pretty little holy virgin who pretended not to see hatred and joy and is capable of human growth"

"Are you really 'me'?" The ruler question.

"I have played my part for you so clearly yet you still have doubts? It's not that you cannot understand it, you do not even have the will to try. But I understand. Seeing you I have realized all there is to the heroic spirit that is myself. You are neither ruler nor Jeanne d'Arc. You are nothing but some leftover residue that I threw away. If you were the same existence and classes I then I should have felt something. But you are worthless. Nothing but a ghost with a misguided effort to recreate history. Berserker Lancer and Berserker Assassin finish off that Country Girl."

Chloé's eyes widened in horror upon hearing how both servants are considered Berserkers

"You're getting tired of small prey aren't you? Rejoice they are strong, devour them to your heart's content."

"Very well," Vlad the 3rd obeyed twisting his Lance around before pointing it towards ruler's group "Now, I will have your blood"

"Not so fast 'my king," assassin step forward putting a hand in front of the vampire "I would like to partake of her flesh and blood as well as her insides"

'Great two vampires and one of them is an assassin no less,' Chloé silently cursed.

"So greedy. And her soul? Who gets to take her soul?"

"There is no gain taking her soul. Do you think honor or reputation can maintain my beauty?" The female vampire ask, making Chloé do a double take.

'Mom?' Chloé thought beginning to see the parallels between the vampire and her own mother.

"Very well. Then I shall take her soul. It's quite ironic though. I'm able to understand her beauty only after I have fallen as a blood-sucking devil."

"Yes. That is precisely why I cannot hold back my emotions, I will not forgive anything more beautiful than me. No, more than that, the blood of those more beautiful than me can only elevate my beauty!"

'That…still sounds like her,' Chloé thought moving closer, still in cover.

"How fun it is to crush such fresh fruit, I'll throw away the skin and just enjoy the juice. This is the privilege of being a noble of the night. I'll squeeze every last drop out of yo-"

Suddenly the female vampire stopped and pointed her staff towards Chloé's hiding spot, "did you really think you could sneak up on me?" She ask with a smirk, firing a blast of blood towards the Counter Guardian.

Chloé without wasting a second jumped over her cover as the blood made contact with it causing it to explode. twisting her body in the air, Chloé threw the black keys from both of her hands towards the vampires. Vlad easily blocks two out of the three with his lance with the third hitting him in the knee, Assassin blocking the keys lunch towards her with a wave of blood.

The key in Vlad's leg suddenly brushed into blue fire causing the hero of Romania to roar in pain as he quickly ripped it out. The impaler sent a glare as well as a few stakes from the ground towards the former blonde as she landed onto the ground.

Chloé diving towards the right with only the bottom of her coat getting pierced by the stakes. Without wasting another second materialize her bow and fire an arrow towards the head of the Dark Jeanne, the arrow seconds away from hitting its mark was suddenly blocked by a wave of stakes and blood.

"Oh so we have another servant," Dark Jeanne smirks, ignoring the fact Chloe's arrow almost pierce her skull. "Lancer and Assassin kill her as well"

materializing Kanshou and Bakuya Chloé side-glance the chaldea group, "Ruler, shielder, mind fighting Assassin while I take on Vlad?" Getting a nod from the still surprised Kyrielight for an answer, Chloé charge towards the impaler, swinging her blades.

Vlad blocking Chloé's strike raised an eyebrow at her, "knowing my identity upon seconds after meeting me is no small feat" The vampire pointed out as his Lance began to crack Kanshou and Bakuya, "so do I know you?"

"No, but I know almost everything about you, for example I know that if you were summoned in your homeland, you wouldn't be summoned as a vampire"

The vampire let out a roar as he suddenly began to push Chloé back, shattering Bakuya. Jumping backwards, Chloé materialized three Black Keys into her now open hand and threw the trio of holy blades directly towards the Impaler. The vampire King not making the same mistake as before summoning several stakes blocking the attack.

Landing a few feet backwards Chloé materialized a brand new Bakuya, a smirk present across her face, "seems I struck a nerve" The former miraculous user mocked hoping to get a rise out of the Impaler.

Vlad charged forward, lance prepared to strike. In response Chloé threw her twin blade slightly above the Impaler causing him to stop in his tracks as both blades spun over him. "You missed," the berserk Lancer pointed out

"Did I?" Chloé questioned, as both blades slowly spun back towards the unaware vampire.

"What are yo-" Vlad began to question before quickly turning around, shattering the blades with a pair of stakes, unaware that Chloé took that opportunity to charge towards him materializing a large black and silver greatsword. "did you truly expect such an underhanded tactic would work on m-"

The vampire was interrupted as the Greatsword once belonging to Siegfried and temporarily used by Sieg pierced through his back and out his chest, a smirk appearing across Chloé's face as she twisted the handle, causing blue light to erupt across the blade, "The evil dragon will be vanquish. All will be separated into light and shadows, in this moment the world reaches its Twilight, now fall... Balmung!" Slowly Chloé ripped the blade upwards, almost ripping the vampire in half.

As the sword shattered into blue light the vampire fell on his knees, Chloé materializing a nameless battle axe, " to answer your earlier question, no I didn't expect a distraction to work on you" Chloe mocked one last time before swinging the battle axe into the Impaler only to find him burst into black mist.

The Mist slowly moved towards the other vampire, who seemed to have withdrawn from her fight, before reforming into Vlad, his clothing burnt and torn, a noticeable red scar going across his now exposed skin.

"Seems I was mistaken," the Dark Jeanne spoke up catching the attention of all those present, "you two are crueler than the others, but that's why you're so playful, let the remaining three deal with this"

"Wait, Assassin and I can still fight. Both the saint and the other servant blood belong to us,"  Vlad cried surprising Chloé, "as if I would low your executioners who know nothing of the radiance of blood, the Gratitude of blood to tak-"

"Shut up, know your place Vlad III. no matter how much Authority you may have had in life, you're all equal as servants."

Suddenly the Ruler stepped in front of both the counter guardian and shielder, holding her flag as if it was a lance "Both of you run, I'll hold them- huh?" Distinct began before being interrupted as an object was launched into the middle of the battlefield.

"A glass rose?" Mash questioned in confusion as the sound of footsteps appeared.

"It's not elegant. Neither is this city. Neither is that combat style. I don't like your philosophy principales either," a mysterious voice coming from all around them began, "you're so beautiful, yet you shroud yourself in Blood and hatred. For good or for evil shouldn't a human try to be more free?"

"A servant?" dark Jeanne questioned before Chloé could.

"Yes, that's right. I'm so happy. this is what it means to announce oneself as a hero of Justice!" A servant walking out from behind some rubble exclaimed in joy. Chloé blinked in surprise at the sight of the newly-arrived servant, they wore a short sleeveless red dress, their skin was fair with ice blue eyes, long gray hair and finally a massive red hat.

"I know who you are. I also know how powerful and terrifying you are, To be honest, I have to confess that I've never trembled in fear more before anyone else, yet still if you intend to invade this nation, then I shall face you even if I have to tear apart my dress. Why? Because…"

"You are…" Chevalier interrupted before going silent again

"Oh my, so you know my true name? Have we met before Splendid female knight?"

"Saber, who is she?" Dark Jeanne asks, waiting a few seconds after getting no reply from the saber, her face Twisted into that of annoyance. "answer me"

"I can tell who she is, even with this murderous rage burning in my heart. Her beauty is unmistakable, the girl they call the flower of Versailles. She is Marie Antoinette"

"Queen Marie Antoinette?!?" Kyrielight question in surprise.

"That's right! thank you for saying my name, and as long as that name exists, I will play my role, no matter how foolish it may be. You dragon witch torches my country. They might be pointless, but I will ask you anyway. Are you evil enough to perform your wicked deeds in my very presence? Will you declare yourself a greater fool than I, the queen who failed to stop the revolution?"

"Silence! You lack the right to participate in this battle." The dragon witch growled

"Oh, and why is that?"

"You lead a life of luxury in a palace, and died without even knowing what happened. Are you saying you can understand our hatred?"

"Hmm… I suppose I can't. but that just makes me want to know more, Dragon witch"

"What?" Dark Jeanne asked, a thought shared by Chloé.

"what I don't know, I learn. that's my policy That's why I can't bear to look at you like this. Oh, Jeanne d'Arc beloved saint! All I know is that you're taking your rage out on the innocent and I've not the slightest idea why. Everything's disappearing into a haze, like a girl going for a Sunday walk. I've no words for you. What I do know is this, along with the Jeanne d'Arc over there," Marie gesture towards ruler, "I'm going to make your heart and body mine!"

"What," Mash asks, a question shared by Chloé and a blushing Ruler.

"Oh, my. Oh dear, oh dear. Um, don't misunderstand me. I just meant as a queen I'm going to bring you to your knees."

"That.. that's not helping," Chloé deadpan.

"Enough of this farce," dark Jeanne growled "very well then you are my enemy, Servants first take care of that annoying princess! Then the others"

"That won't be necessary," Marie began "Amadeus crush them like bugs please"

"Leave it to me," a voice of a male servant cried out before continuing. "Noble Phantasm, Requiem for death" Suddenly a noise erupted across the battlefield temporarily distracting the servants under dark Jeanne command.

"Now then, good day everyone," Antoinette cried out before making a run for it, Chloé and the others close behind.

“Looks like they’ve made their getaway,” Mordred muttered, eyes narrowing as the flying fortress of their former allies rumbled away across the night sky. The trio having regrouping at the ruins of a building.

"Ridiculous utterly ridiculous," Chloé let out a sharp sigh, pressing her back against the crumbling wall.

"I guess after obtaining the Greater Grail there's not much left for them to do here," Kairi remarked, reloading his shotgun before slinging it away.

"Alright what should we do now?" Chloé questioned, eying her mentor and friend, who now fished in pocket before pulling out a box of cigarettes, Dragon smoke if Chloé's memory serves right.

Placing one into his mouth, he went to light it, only to stop as his gaze slid toward Mordred, who was standing rigid with barely suppressed frustration.

A faint frown tugged at his lips, he slipped the cigarette back into the box and pocketed it, "Let me take a guess you're bothered about sparing Rider?"

Mordred’s head snapped towards him, their fists clenched at their sides, "Oh lay off, I already know I should have killed the jerk when I had the chance,"

Kairi only raised a brow, unbothered by the saber's anger, "Didn't you act accordance towards your wish,"

Mordred’s lips pressed into a thin line before they scoffed, shaking their head, "Nah, I honestly wasn't thinking about that, that stupid ass master of his just really pissed me off is all," Saber explained, before a slight laugh escaped them as they jabbed a thumb toward Chloé, "Seems to have done the same for her too,"

"She reminded me of my mother, enough said," was all Chloé said, a faint grin on her face. Earning a nod of approval? from the Knight of Rebellion.

"I say that's a good enough reason," Kairi pointed, "we're all fighting this Holy Grail war to fulfill our own desires, no matter how selfish they might be"

………

"Phew, all right, are we safe now?" Marie asked as the group slowly came to a stop.

"Doctor?" Kyrielight asks the doctor of Chaldea.

Suddenly the speakers on Fujimaru's bracelet blasted to life, "yes. I'm not detecting them anymore, while we're at it I'm picking up leyline readings from that nearby forest."

"Very well. Jeanne? …Marie an-"

"Marie, did you say?" Marie questioned

"F-forgive me. Um,"

"You weren't being rude! You made me so happy! The way you addressed me was so adorable. Please splendid foreigner, would you mind calling me that from now on?"

"Uh, yes…" the shielder began in shy confusion, "Miss Marie, or Mademoiselle Marie, perhaps?"

A small frown appeared across Marie's face as she shook her head in disapproval, "Nope, that won't work at all. Just Marie like the Sheep,"

Before Chloé could point out that's 'Mary', Fujimaru spoke up, "Nice to meet you, Marie"

"Yes, yes, yes! Nice to meet you! I'm Marie! I love understanding gentlemen. Let me guess you're very popular with the opposite sex right?"

Chloé tried her best to hold back a chuckle as the master of chaldea blink in confusion reminding her of a dumb blonde hair boy she once knew, suddenly a blushing Mash spoke up,"...Marie, may I speak?"

"Oh, my apologies. I got excited for a minute. How rude of me. So how may I be of service?"

"A strong leyline was detected in a nearby forest. I'd like to head there and make camp. Is that alright, everyone?"

"Of course that's fine. Is that alright with you, Amadeus?" Marie asked her compatriot, bring the servant to Chloé's attention.

The servant in question, likely a caster, had long curly blonde hair with pale skin, his fingers somewhat Sharp, his clothing primarily black robe with what appear to be purple fabric spread across it here and there with green jewels attached on the shoulders. "there's no point in asking for my opinion. Do what you want Maria,"

"it should be fine I think," Jeanne confirmed

"Is that alright with you Miss Siegfried?" Mash asked Chloé, causing the former blonde to blink in surprise.

"Siegfried? Why are you calling me- oh right Balmung, I see the confusion now. I'm not the hero Siegfried"

"Oh my apologies I thought since you had his sword,"

"don't worries,  I understand, that was merely a projection of his Noble Phantasm," Chloé began to explain before being cut off by Doctor Roman

"Hold on, are you saying that you somehow manage to project a different servant's noble phantasm?!"

"What, like it's hard?" Chloé joked before shaking her head and continuing "though…. I'll admit that's far from my best work and even then it was no were as strong as the original anyways, consider it an imperfect copy,"

"If you're not Siegfried, who are you?" The master of Chaldea asks.

Chloé paused to think before answering, as this isn't a Grail War she wouldn't necessarily need to keep her identity a secret especially since dark Jeanne likely has True Name Revelation…. However given how Fujimaru and those of Chaldea are somewhere around her time her true identity would likely put her loyalty into question but on the other hand If dark Jeanne were to be the one who reveal Chloé's identity the trust between them would be completely destroyed and they would likely consider Chloé a liability….

"I suppose a proper introduction is needed, heroic spirit Chloé bourgeois at your service"

"Chloé bourgeois?" Dr. Roman spoke up again, "as in the current wielder of the bee miraculous, Chloé bourgeois?"

"So you have heard of me," Chloé nodded before fully processing what the good doctor said, "current wielder? What year are you from again?"

"2015," Fujimaru explained

"That.. explains much," Chloé slowly said rubbing her temples, 'perhaps I could work with this,' "and before your… friend? Employer? Both-whatever ask, no I do not have a miraculous on me, I made my way into the Throne a different way,"

"What's your Noble Phantasm if you don't mind me asking," Jeanne d'Arc ask slow and hasenintly, causing Chloé to remember an old question she once had for the ruler

"Well if we're counting my projections I have four in total but if we're not then three, however I'm unable to use one of them as I was summoned as an Archer not a rider,"

The group fell into a comfortable silence until, Mash suddenly stops and turns to a small clearing to the group's right.

"Let's go there and rest, and then we can talk about our next move," Right as the words left the demi-servant's mouth the bushes up ahead began to shake as a monster Chloé couldn't immediately identify began to hiss at the group causing the servant of the shield to bring forth her weapon.

"Looks like some monsters have found the leyline too. Let's get rid of them!"

………

Suddenly, Mordred vanished in a violent blaze of crimson lightning, the crackling energy leaving scorch marks across the ground where they had once stood.

Chloé tilted her head, one brow arched in visible confusion as her sharp eyes darted across the empty space where Mordred had stood, "where did Mordred go?"

"Seems, Ruler request their help,"

"I.. see," Chloé’s voice dipped, her gaze lowering slightly.

Kairi turned his head and studied her with a questioning look, “You’re upset about what happened with Red Faction, yeah?”

Chloé gave a short, humorless laugh. “That obvious, huh?” She folded her arms, staring at the ground, "I know that we were definitely in the right for leaving especially after learning about Kotomine's deception…." She exhaled heavily, shoulders sagging, “This makes twice now. Twice I’ve betrayed my allies. Feels like I’m starting a bad pattern,"

Kairi frowned, taking a moment before answering. “I wouldn’t go that far. Last time you were manipulated, pushed into a corner-”

She cut him off, "That doesn't change the fact I betrayed them. Intentions don’t erase actions. You can dress it up however you like, but I still betrayed them,"

“True,” Kairi admitted after a pause, “But this time’s different. You didn’t betray anyone.”

Chloé tilted her head, “....what?"

"Technically, you were never theirs to begin with,” Kairi explained, tone matter-of-fact as though he were discussing the weather, "Last I check, You worked for me not them. so while I betrayed red, you really didn't betrayed anyone,"

Chloé opened her mouth to argue, instinct telling her to reject the comfort he was offering.... Yet the more she thought about it, the more the logic settled into place. It wasn’t perfect, but it dulled the sharp edge of guilt gnawing at her.

Slowly, almost reluctantly, a small, weak smile tugged at her lips, "you're a piece of shit you know that right?"

Kairi smirked back, “Takes one to know one.”

"Thanks boss I need that,"

………

"Now that things have settled down, I'd like to introduce myself again. My True Name is Marie Antoinette. I'm from the Rider Class, As for who I am, I'd be happy if you could examine me closely with your eyes and ears. As for why I was summoned, unfortunately, I have no idea. After all, I have no Master."

"Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I'm the same as her…. As for why I was summoned, first of all, it just doesn't feel like I'm a hero." Chloé gave the musician a nod of understanding as he continued. "Yes I'm great, but even so, I'm still just one of many artists… Well, I did apply magecraft in my music, but that was only because I was drawn to the sounds played by demons."

So he is a Caster then, "Chloé bourgeois, Archer Class.  Like these two I have no Master."

"I'm Mash Kyrielight. I'm a Demi-Servant, and I don't know what my True Name is," Mash began before gesturing towards Fujimaru "This is Fujimaru, My Master."

"Nice to meet you,"

A smile formed on Amadeus's face as he gave the master a nod, "Pleasure is mine. As fellow non-fighters, let's get along."

"And this is–"

"Jeanne. Jeanne d'Arc, yes?" Marie interrupted, "The saint who saved France. One of the people I wished to meet in my life."

"...I'm, not a saint,"

"Yes, everyone knows that's how you saw yourself. But the way you lead your life was true, and we all know the results. That's why everyone will always remember and admire the name Jeanne d'Arc, and the miracle of Orleans."

"…"

An awkward silence erupted between the group before being ended as quickly as it appeared by Amadeus, "Of course, your life ended at the stake and resulted in that witch. It's just like Maria to only look at the good parts."

"Am I wrong, Jeanne d'Arc? Your life was a little out of tune, Jeanne herself is the one who gets hurt when people call her a perfect saint. Listen, Maria. You always say what you think others want to hear. Sometimes you need to scold or deny others."

"I-I don't need to hear that from you, Amadeus! You already tell me that every day! T-This is what you want, right? You piano-brain! Piece of human garbage! You're a pervert who can only get it up for musical scales! If you like music so much, you should turn into a piano!"

"...I don't know if I should say this, but when you insult me like that, I feel something indescribable. But see? You can do it if you try! Give the same treatment to Jeanne. Faster. Stronger. More violent! Tell her all of her flaws as you see them!"

"Non, that's impossible Amadeus. Human garbage like you has nothing but flaws. But Jeanne herself has none."

'It's like looking into an old mirror,' Chloé thought with a frown, recalling back when she practically worship ladybug.

"........Are you serious? I didn't know you had it that bad. You really did love Jeanne d'Arc, didn't you?"

"I would say 'worship' rather than love. And a bit of guilt, as well. ...A tiny 'sorry', the size of a teaspoon. The natural guilt we foolish royals feel towards the Saint."

"...Marie Antoinette. Your words honor me, but that's why I must confess. In life, I was no saint. I held the flag high for what I believed in, and as a result, I stained my hands with blood....Of course, I don't regret that. Nor do I regret the Inquisition or my own death."

"But I shed too much blood. I believed in the dreams of a little country girl, but At the time, I never imagined how high the price of that dream was. I never regretted it, but never did I feel fear....And that is my greatest sin. Only the outcome of my actions made me a saint. I do not think it's the right word for a country girl like me."

"...I see. So you're not a saint, right?" Marie asks, "Then, may I call you Jeanne?"

"...Y-Yes. Of course. It feels like that would bring back old memories."

"Wonderful. Call me Marie, then. If you're simply Jeanne, and not a saint, then I want to be Marie, and not a queen. Please Jeanne, will you call me Marie?"

"Y-Yes. All right... Thank you, Marie."

"Thank you too. I am happy, Jeanne! And I'm sorry. I keep pushing my own views on you. You've lost your own answers about yourself, haven't you? Just like the day I died, not knowing a thing about what was going on. You'll have to find your own answers."

"I certainly want to treat you as a saint, but I'll stop myself! I won't just believe in you, I'll support you! Isn't that what female friends are supposed to do, Amadeus?"

"I suppose so, yeah? You guys can go eat sweets or something."

Mash then spoke up, "We believe in you too. Right, Master?"

"Of course."

A smile formed across Jeanne "...Heh, heh, thank you. That makes me feel better."

Suddenly movement form the bushes outside of their small camp captured Chloé's attention, without warning she jumped infornt of Fujimaru blades out once more

"once more it seems like we have invited some unwanted guests." Maire spoke up as Jeanne and Mash brought their weapons out

Amadeus quickly moving to stand next to Fujimaru, "No, I don't think you invited them. Well, whatever. Let's get rid of them and resume our conversation!"

The rustling in the bushes ceased, and from the shadows emerged a purple haired woman, whom Chloé immediately recognize as one of the Servants that was with dark Jeanne.

"...Hello, everybody. What a lonely night," the servant spoke, warmly, almost gently, as though greeting old friends despite finding multiple weapons pointed at her.

Jeanne was the first to lower her weapon and speak, "Who are you?"

The woman tilted her head as though the question puzzled her,

"Who? Let’s see… I once forced myself to be a righteous saint, yet in this world, I am nothing but the slave of a broken one,:

"A broken saint…" Jeanne murmured.

"Yes, thanks to her, my reason has left and I've gone mad. I am doing everything I can to hold myself back. What a mess this is. So while I appreciate your hopes, I cannot join you. You don't want a Servant who'll stab you from behind at every single opportunity, do you?"

"Then why did you come here?" Chloé spoke up causing the servant to turn towards her

"...My task was to observe you, but my waning reason whispers that I should test you. You face the Dragon Witch. Disaster incarnate, riding on the 'ultimate dragon.' If you cannot surpass me, you will never defeat her."

"Defeat me. Plunge your blade into my heart without hesitation. My True Name is Martha. Now come to me, Iron Dragon Tarasque!"

"Martha... Saint Martha?" Roman spoke up in alarm, "Watch out, everyone! She once defeated a dragon with nothing but prayers! If she's a Servant, that means–"

"Let us see if you are capable of slaying me–!"

"She's a dragon rider!" Roman cried out, as Light erupted from Martha’s cross.

A blinding beam lanced toward Chloé. The counter guardian barely managed to cross Kanshou and Bakuya in defense. The impact rang through her arms, both blades cracking under the sheer force, 'Damn it, is she a Rider or Caster?'

She rolled aside, dismissing the broken blades, and materialized her bow in a fluid motion. Three arrows sang through the air in rapid succession. Martha spun her staff, effortless deflecting each shot before twisting to parry a surprise shield bash from Mash.

Launching the shielder back, Martha blocked another arrow strike before pairing an attack from the ruler servant. Chloé gritted her teeth as she quickly materialized a nameless spear before charging towards the distracted servant. Getting close enough Chloé attempted to jab the spear into the madden saint only to find herself almost piercing Jeanne as Martha moved out of the way. Before she could recover, Martha pivoted. her cross cracking against Chloé’s ribs like a bat, launching her skyward. Air rushed past as pain shot through her body. Ignoring the pain, Chloé conjured her bow once more, she fired a storm of arrows down. Several struck home, forcing Martha to yield ground as Jeanne pressed the assault.

As her legs made impact with the ground once more, she watched Jeanne's body be hurled by a kick straight into Mash. Making then both tumbled to the dirt.

Suddenly a pink blast of energy hit Martha square in the back, Chloé twisted her head to see Marie unleashing another attack only for Martha to move out of the way and fire her own right back.

Raising her bow once more, she frozed. pale blue smoke began to coil behind behind the saint, "A miracle! “O', Tragic Drake-"

Chloé’s eyes widened in horror. She clenched her fist, "My title long since forsaken yet her power remains…." A weak yellow glow formed around her entire hand, taking the shape of a pulsating bee stinger. Chloé charged towards Martha.

"Who Knew Naught of Love... Like a star! Tarasq-"

"Venom!" The counterguardian cried, as she slammed fist right into the saint's gut.

Martha didn't even have a chance to gasp as a yellow energy coiled around her body, freezing her in place. Without hesitation, Chloé summoned Kanshou once more and thrust it deep into Martha’s chest.

As the glow began to fade Martha staggered back a step, cross trembling in her grip. Chloé raised her weapon again, ignoring the stiffness creeping through her arm. But instead of striking back, the saint's weapon falling out of her hands.

"...I see. That's enough,"

Chloé stood still for a moment before allowing her blade to dematerialized as Jeanne spoke up, "Martha. Did you–"

The Saint gave a quiet, weary laugh.
“Of course not. This is fine. It’s fine this way.” Her gaze softened as she looked upon them all, "Listen, let me tell you one last thing. You'll never beat the dragon controlled by the Dragon Witch,"

"There's only one way to surpass that type of dragon. Go to he city once known as Lyon. It won't be a saint who defeats the dragon, nor a princess. Ever since ancient times, only a 'Dragon Slayer' is capable of killing a dragon. I'm sorry....Next time, I hope I'll be summoned properly." the saint faded into light and dust leaving the group with a somber silence.

"...Even Saint Martha can't resist her," Jeanne spoke up breaking the silence.

"She was under Madness Enhancement," Chloé pointed out, "in addition to being summoned by your dark counterpart. Perhaps it can't be helped,"

"Normally it would be impossible to even talk to her. The only reason we were able to communicate was because of her incredible self-control," Mash agreed.

"Yes. She was peaceful, yet fierce as a person. I could tell," Marie began, "She is the Iron Saint. She is a woman like adamantite, who solves things with her fists in the end."

"They say she defeated the Tarasque with a sermon, but I bet she just beat it up," Amadeus joked, startling Chloé who completely forgot he existed, "Anyway, thanks to her, we know where we're going. We should hurry, right? Let's get going to Lyon,"

Kyrielight blinked in surprise, "...I'm surprised, Amadeus seemed like, um, the type of person who'd hate to travel on foot…"

Marie let out a small laugh before speaking, "Oh no, Amadeus loves traveling. He's traveled to many places ever since he was a child,"

"Well, I suppose it's true that I'm used to traveling,"

"Hehe, I'm getting excited. I wonder what, and who, waits for us in Lyon!"

Venom: Subjection's stolen gift: C (Anti-Unit): In life Chloe was once the user of the bee miraculous as such the miraculous itself is tied to her legend to the point that she's capable of manifesting a replica of its power to aid her in combat. due to no longer possessing the bee, the effects of this Noble Phantasm would have gone down to C rank, only lasting half of a minute as a result.

Chapter Text

September 8, 2018

"Saving humanity?" The former Master of Saber of Black, Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia, threw his head back in a booming laugh, making Chloé rolled her eyes, "you can't be serious,"

Things have certainly taken a rather... interesting turn, first the crap with Kotomine going down, Ruler calling Mordred over to help deal with Caster, and now Chloé found herself sitting in the middle of a war council with people who, just the day before, would have gladly run her through without hesitation.

“Yes,” Ruler replied calmly, unfazed by Gordes’s laughter, and unknowingly bring Chloé back to the present, "that is the true objective Shirou Kotomine reveal to us," Ruler paused for a moment and shook her head, "No, I should really call him, Shirou Amakusa,"

Chloé’s gaze lingered on Ruler, 'Oh right and there's you,' she thought. She wasn't entirely sure why but upon getting a closer look of Ruler's face she couldn't help but feel she knew her from somewhere, same gose for the weirdly familiar silver earrings with what appeared to be four circles carved into them.

'Where have I seen-,' Shaking her head, she pushed the thought aside and forced herself back into focus. Gordes’s laughter had subsided into huffing, and he slammed his meaty hands on the table.

"How dare he try to make a ludacris wish like that" Gordes barked, his voice rattling the room, earning yet another eye roll from the former bee holder.

"Shut the hell up fatty," Mordred snapped from beside her, before pushing themselves off the wall, "The Grail is fully capable of granting any wish, no matter how stupid it might be,"

"That's impossible," Gordes bellowed, slamming his fist again.

"Of course when it comes down to it," Fiore Forvedge calmly interjected, "The Grail is simply a cluster of magical energy, thus it is possible to ignore logic in the process and still bring results"

Chloé watched as Sieg fixed his eyes on Ruler, "Ruler, shat if this Shirou person figured out how to get the Grail grant his wish?"

"the wish would become a reality," the Ruler explained.

"Wait a minute, so is the problem that Shirou might actually know how to get the Grail to give him what he actually wants?" Caules questioned.

"No, that's not it," Archer of black began, "the problem is that the specific mythology could possibly be disastrous for mankind,"

"Basically what you're saying is that if there was a man who wished to be the best mage in the world and his initial idea was to do something stupid like kill ever other mage so that there won't be any one left to compete against him," Kairi started, "Then the Holy Grail will actually granted that wish,"

Chloé’s eyes widened. Gordes nearly leapt from his seat, "WHAT?!"

"Theoretically, that's correct," Ruler confirmed, filling Chloé with dread.

"That's ridiculous something like that can't be allowed, there's no way," Gordes cried out.

"Why do you think Ruler is here?" Chloé muttered under her breath, though loud enough for Gordes to hear. The man glared at her but said nothing, unwilling to give her the satisfaction of a response.

Fiore leaned forward, pressing a red marker onto the map laid across the center of the table, "Our next order of business is to think of a plan to prevent that. They are using the Hanging Gardens to travel, considering the distance alone catching up should be easy"

"We can change them with a plane," Caules suggested.

Chloé shook her head, "Not unless you want to be shot down midair. They still have Red’s Archer,"

"Archer of red true name, Atalante," Archer said, surprising Chloé. 'Did he know her?' "She is a renowned Hunter in Greek mythology, I imagine it would be quite simple to shoot down an airplane with her bow, three servants of our side have already been defeated as well,"

"And our assassin went completely awol," Caules added bitterly, confirming Chloé's original suspicions, "So I suppose that means we need assistance,"

Mordred smirked, tilting their head towards Chloé and Kairi while leaning back again, "Hey sounds like they need us,"

"Well if we're talking about stopping Amakusa then I'm all for it," Kairi answer before continuing, "Besides we can't really get anything done on our end until he's gone, any objections you two?"

Chloé shook her head, "No complaints here boss," she said, as her eyes flicked toward Mordred.

"Let me settle the score with that knock off Saber first," Mordred growled, glaring at Sieg

Astolfo instantly leapt in front of his Master, arms spread wide, "Hmp,"

"What a loyal dog," Mordred mumbled "Anyway, that priest's underlings piss me off, especially that poison wench"

" You can say that again," Chloé answer back with a grin as Archer started to push Fiore's wheelchair. towards the trio.

"Is it safe to assume we have a mutual understanding then?" Fiore ask, "Will you team up with us,"

"We're willing to help out temporarily until those guys are taken down," Kairi explained before continuing "We can even bind with a self geass scroll if it makes you feel better,"

Fiore smiled at the answer, reaching her hand out "No, that's alright you don't have to go that far, I fully trust you"

"I appreciate that," Kairi replied, with a faint smile as they shook.

"Perhaps," Gordes cut-in, his eyes narrowing as he gestured across the table towards Chloé, "You should reserve that trust at least on her, let's not forget she once betrayed her own allies in Paris, what's stopping her from doing the same now?"

With the exception of Mordred, who was glaring daggers at the former Master of Black, Chloé felt the eyes of every servant in the room on her, not out of anger or dislike, but confusion curiosity.

letting out a sigh the ex-hero turned to face Gordes, "Like my mentor offered, I'm also more than willing to use a self-geis scroll, hell I assume I was going to be signing one anyways," she pointed out.

"I don't know about anyone else, but I trust Chloé," Astolfo spoke up catchingbChloé off guard, turning towards the pink-hair servant, he continued, "I mean sure I don't know what she did in Paris but she didn't have to save Sieg from my former master"

"Perhaps your not half bad Rider," Mordred smiled.

"Chloé did help Ruler and I escape from the hanging gardens," Archer added, "if she did plan to betray us, that bridge has already been burned,"

………

"I see, I see! Understood. How interesting. How very interesting!" Chloé heard Marie say to a random citizen as she made her way over, both her and the Rider volunteered to gather the necessary info regarding Lyon from a nearby town that was on the way, "Thank you, kind sir. Farewell, until we meet again!"

"Y-Yes ma'am! Um, by the way, you seem to be of noble birth. What is your name–"

"My name is Marie Antoinette! Hehe, it might be worth remembering. ...Keep passing it down for three hundred and sixty years or so, and someone might be in for a surprise, hehe."

"You having 'fun' Antoinette?" Chloé asks, her tone filled with minor humor, catching the attention of the Rider.

"Yes, and I got information, I guess you got some too?"

Chloé nodded, "we should head back to the others"

………

"Wait, is it really over already?" Mordred asked, her tone carrying disappointment, "Man, how boring"

"What kind of spectacle were you anticipating from a command spell transfer?" Ruler asked, confusion filling her voice.

"Oh, well you know something awesome at the very least, Nothing too flashy" Mordred explain taking a seat on top of the table.

"You were actually true to your word," Kairi point it out, looking over his command spells, "I'm impress"

Suddenly Mordred hopped off the table, and placd their hand over Ruler's shoulder. A sly grin plastered across their face as they leaning in, "Feel free to hand over that last one whenever,"

"Huh," Ruler blinked, genuinely caught off guard by the audacity as Chloé couldn't help but smile at saber.

"You're going to give it to me right?"

"I'm afraid I cannot promise you that," Ruler evenly, brushing Mordred’s hand aside and heading towards the humongous.

"Man you're so damn stingy" Mordred mumbled, as Chloé patted them on the back.

"Better luck next time Mo," A cheeky grin fell on her face as the knight let out a half  hearted huffed.

"Give me your hand Sieg, You're next," Ruler clasped his pale hand in her own before continuing, "In addition to the first time you also transform to defeat that giant, so you have transformed twice in total. Is that correct?"

"Yeah, it is,"

"Command spells are coalesced magical energy made by Makiri, due to their nature command spells typically disappear once power is lost,"

Sieg’s eyes fell on his own hand, and frowned as he noticed something, "Mine are almost completely gone… is something wrong?"

"No," Ruler said firmly, and without hesitation before starting the transfer process,aa flash of red light later Ruler stepped back as Sieg looked at his hand, "Being on your final command spell is an issue, to fix this I'll transferred two more to you"

Chloé's eyes widened in shock as Mordred jerked  forward and pointed towards the Ruler in a mixture of surprise and anger, "Wait what!?"

Before Saber could march over towards the ruler and homunculus, Astolfo bounded into her path, arms stretched wide like a barricade, "stop!"

"Out of the way pipsqueak" Mordred barked, despite facing away from the ex-miraculous holder, Chloé i had no doubt that her's friend/crushes teeth were bared towards the rider.

"Oh shut up you delinquent" Astolfo shot back.

"What the hell did you say?!"

'Huh, so this is what me and Dupain-Cheng looked like from the outside,' she thought with faint amusement, before glancing towards Ruler, who looked annoyed at the pair of servants.

"Will you two grow up?"

"Thank you… really." Sieg’s quiet voice broke the tension, drawing Ruler’s attention back to him.

"Only twice that's it, listen Sieg you must make sure you never use your final command spell"

"Why not?"

"Do you not get it?" she asked, her voice low, "The fact you are alive and in this current state is a miracle and I'm certain that Miracle comes with a cause, these command spells are stealing something from you something important"

Sieg frowned deeply in response, "What would anyone want to take from me? I don't have anything…. nothing worth of miracle anyway,"

"That is not the point," Ruler cut in sharply, before turning toward, "Rider please make sure he does not endanger himself"

"Leave it to me I'll do my best to keep my master in custody," Rider claims, causing Chloé to raise an eyebrow "Oh wait I think I meant ah keep an eye on him?"

"Now that you have the responsibilities of a master you should keep a good grip on Rider's reins, right?"

"Understood"

"Good and remember, never use your last command spell. Miracles do not come without cost in this world,"

__________

"I'm sure you heard stories of people making packs with the Devil well an ancestor of mine actually pulled one off," Kairi started, "And thanks to that incident the Sisigou Clan was able to revive itself and soon became a grand house of necromancer in the Far East," slowly he began to frown, "Unfortunately the pact ended up being a curse meaning my generation is where the sisigou clan meets its end"

Mordred tilted her head, frowning, "Seriously, couldn't you adopt a kid into the family or something?"

Kairi exhaled deeply, a somber expression formed onto his face. The same look Chloé has seen on her mentor's face any time he looked at the photo he kept in his pocket when he thought she wasn't looking.

"I already tried that and the kid died because of me, Nothing more I can do"

Mordred frowned at the words "Huh?"

"If a mage can't transfer their crest to a child's body then all the skills that were built up are lost forever," the necromancer explained, "Upon autopsy I learned that if I transfer my crest on to anyone a poison is instantly generator. When my adopted child died I knew that the sisigou clan was done for so I left my home and became a Bounty Hunter, a few years later I found Chloé" His gaze softened slightly towards her, "One thing led to another and next thing I know Chloé and I are part of a Holy Grail War…. What Ruler said earlier was right miracles never come without a cause"

"So basically your reason for seeking the Holy Grail is so you can have descendants to the Sisigou name again?" Mordred asked crossing their arms.

Kairi gave a crooked grin, halfway between self-mockery and defiance, "Is that not good enough for you? Even after I told you my family's shame and everything"

"More importantly, why the hell are we back in this filthy place? I thought I was finally going to sleep in a real bed for once" Chloé let out a quiet laugh at the saber, before continuing running the whetstone along Bakuya’s edge.

"We were in enemy territory. Did you really think it was safe to sleep there?"

"Come on I would be fine" Mordred protested.

"Their right boss," Chloé teased, "Plus I could have learn a thing or two from their Archer,"

"Here's the deal Saber, Chloé," Chloé looked up, placing Bakuya down, " we agreed to cooperate with those guys for now didn't seem like we had any other choice regardless you should never drop your guard around anyone in Yggdmillennia,"

"I already know all of that Master," Mordred pointed out

"I wasn't done talking yet," Kairi cut in, his tone sharp.

"Fine, I'm listening" Mordred mumbled, looking away.

"First off, We'll be acting separately from what they're doing, if we tell them it's too dangerous to move in one big group then I'm sure they'll comply then the moment the Servants of red start fighting against the Ruler's team-"

Chloé’s lips curved into a knowing smile as the pieces clicked together in her head, glancing at Mordred she instantly knew they reach the scene realization.

"We take the Holy Grail," all three exclaimed. in unison bursting into laughter.

Mordred was the first to calm down, grinning wide at the necromancer, "I knew you weren't the type to give up,"

"Both of you don't find it shameful?" Kairi asked, though his grin hadn’t left.

"Don't know," Mordred replied, shrugging, "That's probably something to think about once it's all said and done,"

"While I definitely had more than enough betrayal to last me a lifetime… several to be honest," Chloé started, her smirk faltering for a second, "Buut it's like you said earlier I'm working for you boss not them. So I don't particularly see it as a betrayal, plus we only have a temporary truce between us and them anyways,"

"I suppose you’ve got a point there," Kairi’s smirk turned into something more genuine.

"Mind if I ask you a question though," Mordred spoke up, "do you still have memories of the child you adopted?"

The smile slowly faded from Kairi’s face, replaced by a much more solemn look, "There are things in this unforgiving world that you should never forget about"

"Hmm," Mordred nodded at the answer, "Master, Chloé" Mordred raised their fist up towards both Mages, Chloé quickly responded by putting her own against it, with Kairi slowly following behind, "Let's go get the Holy Grail!"

Chapter Text

"Guys! We got the information!" Marie cheered, moving with a skip in her step with Chloé following behind. "To put it simply, Lyon was destroyed a little while ago. Its refugees have settled here."

"So it's just as I thought?" Jeanne ask, sorrow spread across her face.

"Yes. The town is filled with monsters that seem to have risen from the depths of Hell."

"The refugees said Lyon had a pair of protectors." Chloé spoke up.

"Protectors?" Mash ask confused.

"A knight with a large sword and another in a skull mask and cloak, Apparently the pair defeated wyverns and skeletons."

"I see. Perhaps one of them is that Servant Martha spoke of before."

"Most likely it's the one with the sword, Given the cloak and skull it's likely the dragonslayer's companion was an assassin class servant, possibly a hassan to be exact," Chloé pointed out with Marie continuing.

"Yes. But a little while ago, some 'scary' people came. Servants, probably. Both were overwhelmed by their numbers and are now missing and so Lyon was destroyed…"

"Apparently Charles VII and General Gilles de Rais also visited the village shortly before we arrived"

"Gilles!" Jeanne spoke up in mixture of joy and sorrow, confusing Chloé for a few seconds before remembering that the pair were friends in life. looking at the Ruler in sympathy, Chloé's hand slowly moved towards the pendant that rested around her own neck.

"He's attempting to attack Lyon and take back the city."

Mash look at Jeanne before speaking up confusing Marie, "I'm sure it would be...difficult to meet with him."

"Why is that? Gilles de Rais is an admirer of Jeanne, right? If Jeanne asks, he's sure to lend a helping hand?"

"...That's precisely the reason. He knows that I've become the Dragon Witch. He wouldn't accept me like that."

"...I see. I'm not sure if that's quite right. But I understand that you might not want to see him! Yes, I agree we don't need to see him! We're in a hurry, after all and I don't think normal soldiers can handle all those monsters in Lyon, anyway…"

"...You're quite right. Let's defeat them on our own."

………

Confusion filled Chloé as she found herself walking alone down the foggy streets of Trifas, "Hello, Mordred? Kairi?" Continuing forward Chloe spotted six silhouettes in the fog in front of her, each one familiar. Walking forward Chloé's heart froze as the fog around the group of six lifted revealing the exposed members of Team miraculous, Chloé's eyes widened in fear as she noticed the state each member of the group were in, each hero was bloodied, Missy hair  broken and either missing a limb or two.

"Oh look the traitor is here, are you going to finish the job?" Alya asks, taking a wobbly step towards Chloé while pointing a twisted broken arm towards her.

"I-I'm sorry, please you have to believe me I-I never wanted this,"

"Lies," a twisted neck Nino cried, causing Chloé to take a step back.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm-"

"don't be sorry my dear Queen bee, you did such a magnificent job bring me closer to my, no our victory,"

Immediately Chloé turned around finding herself on the roof of the Le Grand Paris with-

"Hawk Moth," Chloé gritted her teeth, pulling out Kanshou and Bakuya. Charging forward she stabbed the terrorists in the chest, a triumphant smile appearing across her face before quickly fading as Kairi replaced hawkmoth, blades still in the necromancer Chloé took a step back, hands shaking"No, no, no t-this can't be h-happening,"

"I was right, she plan to betray us!"

Chloé heard Gordes yell from her left, turning she spotted Ruler and the rest of black faction with him,  each pointing a weapon towards her. Taking a step back Chloé trip on something, looking down her blood ran cold as she realized she stood on bodies of Kairi and team miraculous.

"I thank you for your assistance Miss Chloé,"

The voice of Shirou Amakusa spoke up as everything changed into the church where she first met Shirou and Semiramis. Looking towards the priest, Chloé saw Avicebron and the Servants of red with Mordred, chained down by purple chains, their armor beyond broken, glaring dangers towards Chloé.

"I can't believe I trusted you!" Mordred yelled, red lightning flickering off their body as they tried pushing forward towards Chloé, causing more chains to wrap around them.

"Mordred I-I didn't do this I'm sorr-"

"Why did you lie to yourself so much?" Chloé froze recognizing the voice, turning her eyes widened.

Miracle Queen holding a blood stain Kanshou, with Queen wasp and Antibug on either side of the akuma.

"Why pretend to be something you're not? you're nothing but a worthless traitor,"

"Stop,"

"How long until Kairi and Mordred realize that and toss you away like she did?"

"Please," Chloé's hands shook, tears being to form in her eyes.

Ignoring her pleas, the akuma continued, "How long until you betray them like you did to your old team?"

"I-I not like that anymore, I'm-"

Suddenly Miracle Queen shoved Kanshou deep into Chloé's chest, "A heartless monster,"

September 8, 2018

jerking awake Chloé put her hand to her chest, breathing heavily. Looking around she noticed she was back in the graveyard she's been calling home for the past few days. Noticing Kairi sound asleep, Chloé slowly got out of her sleeping bag and made her way to the entrance for fresh air.

Outside, Chloé notices the sun just beginning to rise. Letting out a sigh she slowly sat on the grass, hugging her knees and taking a deep breath. Tears threatened to fall as she desperately tried to push the nightmares that plagued her to the back of her mind.

"Chloé?" Turning around Chloé spotted Mordred leaving the Tomb.

"Did...Did I wake you?"

"Yeah but I don't mind…. what's wrong?"

"Nothing just… just a nightmare, I usually get them here and then….. especially after reminders of past actions,"

Moving towards the former hero, Mordred sat down next to her, "Want to talk about it?"

Chloé stayed silent for what felt like a few minutes before finally speaking, "I… why do you and Kairi care so much about a monster like me," Refusing to look Mordred in the eye, Chloé turns towards the rising sun, "You already know about how I betrayed my tea... my former team and yet both you and Kairi  keep me around still even after my presence brings nothing but trouble, j-just look at the meeting with yggdmil-,"

"I'm going to stop you right there," Mordred said, gently putting a hand on Chloé's shoulder, "I'm pretty sure you weren't the one that almost got into a fight with both that phony saber and that mountless Rider. Besides if you weren't there I'm pretty sure we would have had more trouble anyways, you're the one that pulled those smokes that got Ruler and Archer out of there remember"

"But-"

"Besides, have you forgotten my title? I am Mordred The Knight of Treachery, if I were to judge you for past actions I would expect the same form you,"

"that's not the same, you-"

"Led a rebellion on the count of my father refusing to acknowledge me as the heir to the throne resulting in the destruction of Camelot? I think if anyone here was considered a 'monster' that would be me, so enough of this self hatred…. okay?"

"I-" Chloé could barely speak before tears started rolling down her cheeks without hesitation she wrapped her arms around Mordred in a tight hug, the knight pausing for a few seconds before returning it.

Chapter Text

Entering Lyon Chloé couldn't help but notice how the entire place felt wrong, the town despite it's destroyed state had not a single corpse in sight, both civilian and monster alike.

"There's no one here," Fujimaru was the first to speak, breaking the silence that form.

Mash moving her comlink bracelet in front of her spoke, "Doctor, any signs of life?"

"..."

"Doctor?..... I'm sorry. Reception's not very good here. Let's split up and search for that 'Dragon Slayer' and assassin,"

Nodding Marie pointed west, "Right. Let's see which of us finds that person first. Amadeus and I will take the west side,"

"Then Jeanne, Mash and I will take the east." Chloé stated gaining a nod from Mash.

"Understood. Let's go, Master!"

………

"going back to bed?" Mordred ask, standing close to the entryway of the Tomb

"No, I usually have trouble going back to sleep after nightmares like these. Plus we'll be getting up soon. I'll just go on a walk,"

"Alright, call if you need anything,"

………

As the four made their way through the town, Chloé noticed how Jeanne's face was twisted in sorrow before speaking, "This was once a beautiful town. Why would that Dragon Witch do this–," she began before Fujimaru interrupted her.

"That's not you,"

"That'd be nice, but... Huh?" Jeanne turned towards the right, "Did I just hear a voice?"

As everyone stood quiet, Chloé could heard the weak sound of movement, Mash was the first to move towards the noise, "Yes, faintly. It may be a survivor. Let's go check it out!"

Quickly moving Chloé couldn't help but feel odd about the whole thing, before the Counter Guardian could raise her concern the group came face-to-face with a horde of undead.

"Living Dead!" Mash shouted, moving her shield in front of Fujimaru.

"Turning the townsfolk into monsters...This is beyond heresy!" Jeanne cried out in pure disgust and rage.

"We can't save them anymore…Ready for battle, Master!"

Chloé’s bow shimmered into existence, loosing arrow after arrow as Mash and Jeanne surged ahead.

Mash’s shield smashed a cluster of undead into a wall, crushing their bodies almost instantly. Jeanne’s banner whirled, casting three into the air, where Chloé’s arrows found each one before they could land. Then, with a flick of her hand, the bow vanished, replaced by a trio of black keys in each hanf. She hurled them towards the last of the undead, each blade piercing a skull and igniting blue flames.

Silence filled the battlefield as Chloé glance around wildly, waiting for more to rise up, howecer as seconds turn to minutes none of the dead rised up. Lowering her shield Mash was the first to speak,  "All enemies eliminated,"

Allowing her black keys too fade away, the counter guardian watched as Jeanne slowly knelt down to one of the bodies and gently closed its still open eyes, "May their souls rest in peace–"

"Peace... Do they desire peace? That is such a foolish thing to say. They have no peace in their souls," An unknown voice cried out, instainstantly Chloé glance around, trying to locate the source as the voice continue to echo all around them, "There is certainly none residing in us Servants, This world has been frozen for years…"

Mash immediately jumped in front of Fujimaru protectively, "Servant!"

Slowly the servant finally stepped out of the shadows in from of them, revealing a long raven haired man. the right side of his face hidden behind a blood stained mask, a torn cloak resting on his shoulders and five razor sharp blades rested on each of his fingers.

"Who are you?"Jeanne ask, rising her flag like a spear once more.

"People call me, The Phantom of the Opera!" The servant revealed, "By order of the Dragon Witch, this town is under my absolute control," A scow grew across Chloé's face as she entered a combat stance once more, materializing Kanshou and Bakuya in to hand,  "Now, now, now. This is the middle of Hell, where the dead live. What are you going to do?"

"We'll crush you." She heard Fujimaru shouted, earning a slight nod from the fallen hero and likely the rest of their allies.

Suddenly the servant of the shield charged forward swinging her shield with Chloé and Jeanne close behind. Phantom barely dodge Mash's attack as he attempted to block Jeanne's with one of his bladed hands, all while rhe other one attempted to piercer the saint, only to be blocked by Bakuya. The counter guardian noted anger twisted onto the enemy servant's face as he jumped away the ruler. Doing the only thing she could think of she charged in swinging both twin swords at the Phantom, the servant in question immediately responded by blocking her strengths and occasionally attempting to return the favor in kind.

"I thought we were in the middle of hell?" Chloé mocked, twisting her left hand so her blade blocked a stab meant for her chest. Movement caught the corner of eye as something charged toward the  bl blis  bliss blissful blissfully blissfully un blissfully unaware Fujimaru, at the risk of letting Phantom get a hit on her Chloé throws kanshou towards the master of chaldea, decapitating a undead that somehow survive there earlier combat.

Pain bloomed across her gutas Phantom quickly jabbed his right bladed hand into Chloé's stomach. Refusing to allow pain to be shown on her face, Chloé immediately materialized a new Kanshou and sliced the lower half of Phantom's arm clean off before he had a chance to pull back.

"Ugh!" The phantom of the opera groan as he stumbled back, taking her chance she rush forward and return the favor with a quick thrust from her blades into his chest. Her fellow Servant froze in place as he let out a let out a whal let out a whale let out a wailed of a gasp as he stumbled off her blades, "my… mission is accomplished. Though I shall never be rewarded… never,"

Before Chloé could question what the servant meant, The Phantom of the Opera turned towards Jeanne, "This is where my song ends, but the real Hell starts now…. Rejoice, oh Holy Maiden! Your evil has grown… even more than you."

"Be silent. It must be hard to even talk now," Jeanne spoke softly, slightly moving past Chloé towards the the Phantom.

Ignoring the Ruler the Phantom continued, "These are not words. This is a song. To lament your future, and to mourn it….Forget about the Dragon Slayer… Run to the ends of the earth. If lady luck is on your side–you might just have a chance to escape," Chloé looked at the servant in confusion before the faint sound of wings caught the group's attention.

The Phantom of the Opera fading from this world spoke up once more as the sound of a pair of footsteps running towards the group could be heard, "Here it comes….. The Dragon is here. The Devil is here. An evil dragon unlike any of you… have… seen…. before."

Blades out once more Chloé turns to face their new arrivals only to see Amadeus and Maire, "You're a stubborn one, aren't you? The coda has ended, now back to hell with you," Amadeus spoke as Phantom finally faded away.

Suddenly Mash's comm came to life as Roman yelled, "Finally, I got through to you! Everyone, I recommend that we evacuate! This reading is way beyond a Servant, It's indicating an "ultra-size lifeform"! And it's approaching with incredible speed!"

Looking down at her comm Mash's face turn to surprise and horror, "Beyond a Servant! Can such a lifeform even exist in this world?"

"Of course they can! The world's a big place!" Roman shouted causing Mash to flinch, "Um, sorry. Save the chatter for later! I am also detecting three Servants heading this way,"

"The orchestra is done. Let's get out of here, I know we just wasted our effort, but that's life." Amadeus spoke up as Mash step forward

"Wait, please. If the reading is truly beyond that of a Servant, then we need the 'Dragon Slayer' more than ever," Jeanne argued, "That person must be in this town, right? We can at least look for that Serv–"

"No, no, no. No time, no time!" Roman cried out in a panic, Chloé glance towards Jeanne who seem to have made up her mind as she step forward.

"If we abandon that Servant now, we may never get another chance!"

Chloé pause in thought before letting out a sigh, "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous," Chloé mumbled before moving next to the Ruler servant, "they're right Romani, we need the dragon slayer more than ever if we want the slightest chance to win,"

Silences broke out between the group once more, Mash taking the opportunity turn towards Fujimaru, "Master, your orders!"

Glancing at the young master, Fujimaru seem to think for a few seconds before deciding his answer, "Find the Dragon Slayer"

"Understood!"

"Amadeus, let's prepare for battle....Will you fight with me?" Antoinette ask.

"Didn't you just order me to fight? You just need to stand proudly, and smile as always. Don't worry yourself over me. If things get bad, I'll run away on my own!"

"Yes. That's the Amadeus I know. It's okay, we just have to buy some time. I won't die. Not here, at least."

"Doctor! Are you detecting any other Servants?" Mash ask.

"Searching now. Hang on a moment! –Right. There's a faint reading from the castle up ahead!"

"Let's go!" Jeanne shouted before leading the charge.

………

Continuing her walk Chloé suddenly stopped brow rise as her eyes landed on a small girl sitting on a bench a few feet in front of her, the girl kicking her legs in boredom. Much to Chloé's surprise the little girl seemed to have pure white hair, dressed in a sleeveless white dress exposing a strange purple circle on her right shoulder. Glancing around Chloé noticed in both confusion and concern that the girl seemed to be all by herself.

Who in their right mind would leave a child by herself so close to a graveyard so early in the morning? Chloé thought, glancing at her watch noting it's almost 6 in the morning, continuing to walk towards the girl. Doing so seems to have caught the girl's attention as she turned her face towards Chloé, causing the blond further concern as she spotted several scars and stitches across the white haired girl's face.

A massive smile grew across the girl's face as she jumped down from the bench and skipped towards Chloé "are you here to play with us again?"

"us?" Looking around quickly, Chloé couldn't spot anyone else besides her and the girl. "Wait, again? Who are you"

"We're Jack silly,"

Chapter Text

"We're Jack silly," the girl now revealed to be named Jack said with a small laugh that for some reason put Chloé on edge, "and you're Chloé,"

Chloé raised a brow towards the child as she looked around, "do your parents know where you are?"

A guilty expression formed on Jack's face as she kicked a small rock in front of her, "mommy is asleep right now and wanted us to wait until she got up," Jack's face changed to that of joy as she continued "but we were too excited to meet you again!"

Briefly ignoring the 'Again' part, Chloé found herself to be genuinely surprised. Ever since Miracle Queen she noticed how children would act like she's the real life 'Bloody Mary' or some generic horror movie killer so the fact that this child is showing nothing but joy towards meeting her is… unsettling. "What do you mean 'excited' to meet me? You do realize I'm Chloé Bourgeois, the 'monstrous' Miracle Queen right?"

"Because you're just like us,"

"I'm… like you?"

"We were abandoned by our old mommy too,"

Blinking in surprise Chloé couldn't help but feel surprised and a mixture of sadness towards the little girl. Chloé briefly recalled how mo... how Audrey and Andre all but officially disowned her. glancing at the scars on Jack's face once more a cold realization hit her, "I see…" Chloé started before crouching down to Jack's eye level, "Your new mom treats you better right?"

"Oh Mommy is the best! She feeds us, gives us a bed, plays with us, sings to u-" The tension building in Chloé's shoulders relaxed as she continued to listen to the girl ramble about her mother… though the fact that Jack mentioned receiving a bed as one of the positives did raise several alarms for the ex-hero. "Did you also get a new mommy too?"

"I didn't, but… I guess somewhat got a new old man instead,"

"The man with the sunglasses?" Jack ask innocently surprising Chloé.

'How does she know about Kairi?' Chloé begins to think before recalling what Jack said.

we were too excited to meet you again

'Jack must have bump into me and him at some point here,' "yeah, don't tell him I said that ok? I have a reputation to keep" Chloé joked, causing Jack to giggle.

"We promise,"

………….

"There you are!" Mash yelled being first to enter the tower with Jeanne being not too far behind, "oh what a terrible wound!"

Entering the tower, Chloé found herself dumbfounded at the familiar long silver haired, servant that stood before the group, for a brief few seconds Chloé almost mistaken him for Sieg before realizing the servant's true identity.

Letting out a minor groan Siegfried, the Dragon-Blooded Knight of Germanic legend, immediately entered a Battle Stance, Balmung's blade pointed directly towards the group, "One after... Another."

Lowering her flag Jeanne took a step forward, "Please wait! We are on your side! At least, we have no intention of causing you harm!"

Suddenly a cold shiver went down Chloé's spine as Mash spoke up "the dragon is approaching! Several Servants are with it, as well. We are at an overwhelming disadvantage here–"

"A dragon huh.... I see. That's why I was summoned and then attacked." Siegfried interrupted.

"We're here to help you, but we must get out of here!"

"I'm sorry, of course," Siegfried began before looking around, "Have you encountered my companion?"

Shaking her head Chloé spoke up, "the Hassan? No we assume they perished when you were captured,"

confusion formed on Siegfried's face as he turned his head towards Chloé's direction, "Hassan? No she's a-"

Suddenly the building began to shake as a monstrous roar rang out, glancing towards the ceiling minor panic filled Chloé as cracks began to form. "Shit, we need to leave now," not waiting for the others, Chloé turned and ran towards the door, materializing Kanshou and Bakuya, the others close behind.

Barely seconds after leaving the tower Chloé's blood ran cold as her eyes landed on the source of the Roar, despite how many years have passed since it's impossible to not recognize the dragon Sieg transformed into to carry the greater grail, Fafnir.

movement on top of evil dragon's head caught Chloé's attention, glancing upwards she spotted Dark Jeanne standing on top of Fafnir, annoyance and boredom written across her face. "I was wondering what you found, turns out it's just another dying Servant. Very well, you can all die together!"

Slowly a faint glow began to shine from Fafnir's mouth realizing what was going to happen next Chloé dematerializing her blades in favor of a certain familiar green shield, "Get behind me!"

Without wasting a second Jeanne moves towards Chloé's right side, "we'll do it together!" Jeanne cried slamming her flag into the ground, Mash quickly following suit moved towards Chloe's left side.

"R-Right!"

"Incinerate them... Fafnir!" The corrupted Jeanne cried right as the glow from Fafnir' jaws became unbearable to stare at.

"Deploying Virtual Noble Phantasm!"

"Luminosite –" Jeanne started as her flag began to shine with a golden holy glow. " Eternelle!"

"Lord Chaldeas!"

"Shelter!" Chloé cried as a giant green dome shield formed around the group.

Erupting like a volcano, Fafnir's flames emerging from his mouth hit the three Noble phantasms with full force, Chloé felt the strain of her shield increase as cracks began to form across the dome. Letting out a snarl, Chloe pushed more of her mana into the shield.

As Farnir's fire continued its assault on the shields, the wind began to pick up in both speed and force, to the point that Fafnir physically struggled to keep his flame directly aimed at them. Even Dark Jeanne also appeared to start having trouble staying on top of the beast, however strangely enough Chloé noticed the wind seem to avoid hitting the group entirely almost as if it was directed towards the evil dragon.

Despite the assistance from the wind, shelter still eventually shatters to dust causing Chloé to collapse, glancing towards the ruler and the shielder she notices Mash' arms beginning to shake as both her and her shield slowly begin being pushed backwards by Farnir's fire.

"I can't hold on anymore, it's no use!," Mash cried as Siegfried lifted his sword and walked toward the trio.

"No, it looks like you made it. Thanks to you, my power's restored for a little while." Suddenly much to both Chloé and Jeanne's surprise Farnir's fire came to a stop as Siegfried moved in front of the group, "It's been a while Evil Dragon Fafnir. If you've resurrected, I will send you back to your slumber,"

Briefly looking away from Siegfried, Chloé found herself surprised once more as Fafnir seemed to tremble at the presence of the dragon slayer.

"Hear me, One Who Rules the Blue Sky! My name is Siegfried! He who once defeated thee! Noble Phantasm, Release!" A blue blade of light erupted from Balmung's blade as Siegfried prepared a swing.,"Balmung!"

Chloé could hear the faint sound of the dark Jeanne shouting as Fafnir's gigantic wings launched him into the air, barely missing Siegfried's attack. The beast either by Dark Jeanne's command or its own will to live began to fly away.

Panting Siegfried lowered his sword until the blade was resting on the ground, "Sorry, this is the best I can do. Get out of there, before they come back,"

Dematerializing the Shield of carapace Chloé nodded, "you heard him, fall back,"

"I am not detecting the ultra-size lifeform anymore." The voice of Dr. Roman rang out from Fujimaru's comlink, causing Chloé to be at ease for a brief moment as the group continued their escape from the remains of Lyon.

"I'm used to traveling, but this is a first for me!" Amadeus cried out as Chloé nodded in agreement.

"Wait, please. I see something up ahead." Jeanne said, coming to a stop as she looked at something in the distance, "That's the... French army! They're being attacked by the wyverns! We need to go help them!"

Before anyone could say anything a small batch of wyverns broke off the main assault against the French army and began to fly towards them. letting out a sign Chloé materialized her bow and took aim as Mash spoke up "Master, here they come!"

"Get ready to fight!" The Master of Chaldea replied, causing a smile to form on the shielder's face.

"Right, Senpai!"

Piercing the skulls of several of the nearest wyverns with a rain of arrows Chloé glanced towards Siegfried as he, Jeanne and Mash charged forward. Twirling her flag as if it were a spear the Ruler slammed it directly into the snout of a wyvern as Mash jumped over her and landed on its back before quickly jumping into the air once more and slamming her shield into a wyvern's skull.

Siegfried's injuries from earlier have seem to have recovered somewhat as he slash and sliced several wyverns with Chloé only needing to fire a couple of arrows towards a wyvern sneaking up on his back.

A shadow appeared beneath Chloé as she turned to see a wyvern dive bombing her, smirking Chloé waited patiently for the Beast to get closer before materializing the battle mace of Berserker of black, Bridal Chest. The very last second Chloe swung the mace into the head of the wyvern causing it to drop dead with a thunderous crack of bone. Letting a satisfied smirk form on her face Chloe dematerialized the mace and glanced towards the rest of her allies who seem to be finished as well.

"First wave of wyverns neutralizes, Next up-"Suddenly an animalistic growl followed by much to Chloé's surprise the sound of automatic weapons fire interrupted Mash, immediately the Demi servant raised her Shield as a hail of bullets slammed against it.

turning to face the source of the bullets with her bow raised, dread filled Chloé. Standing with a handful of newly arrived wyverns were a trio of servants.

The first of the trio Chloé couldn't make heads or tails of, their entire body engulfed in constantly shifting black fog that obscured every detail of them with the exception of a visor that gave off a crimson glow. The only thing Chloé could make out was the rifle in their hand identifying them as the shooter, the rifle itself interestingly enough was covered in a spider web pattern of crimson veins that seemed more concentrated the closer it got to its wielder's hands. Chloé could hear a faint growl escape from the Berserkers lips as he stared directly at Jeanne.

The second servant Chloé couldn't help but feel like she had met them before. The servant wore a light grey skin suit underneath a pair of dark grey pants and jacket with white fur on its collar and shoulders, the servant's face was hidden underneath a dark gray domino mask. The most interesting detail regarding the servants' appearance that captured the Counter Guardian's attention was a pair of goat like horns sticking out of their red hair.

The final servant of the trio a white haired man in a brown long coat carrying a unique looking Blood Stained greatsword with an axe-like blade at its tip, Chloé couldn't help but notice how the swordsman's eyes seem to immediately snap towards Marie with… excitement?

"My, what a coincidence." Marie spoke up, "I've never forgotten your face, you lazy artisan."

"That's good to hear. I've never forgotten yours either. Your face, and your pale white neck. At the same time, I feel like this is destiny. That you and I share a special connection," the white hair servant started with a chuckle, "Don't we? The fate of a executioner killing the same person twice, I feel like only we share that kind of connection."

'Her executioner, so that means this is-,' Chloé began to think as Amadeus took a step forward.

"...Not only in life, but even now you're eager to execute Maria? Charles-Henri Sanson. Could it be that you are genuinely mad?"

"As a human, it pains me to discuss our relationship with a low-life like you. Amadeus, you claimed all lives, all humans, are filthy. Not I. Humans are sacred, precious things," Sanson stated, "That's why we executioners respect life. We are incompatible, you and I. Trash who couldn't even love humans, trash who couldn't understand her, has no right to be next to her."

Without warning the Berserker clad in black fog let out a roar as he raised his rifle and took aim at Jeanne, "Arrthurrr"

Immediately Mash moved in front of Jeanne, she gritted her teeth as each bullet slammed into her shield with monstrous speed and force. Materializing her bow Chloé fired a hail of arrows at the Berserker causing him to stop his assault on the ruler and shielder servants. Berserker let out a growl as he moved his rifle towards Chloé, who dropped her bow in favor of materializing her own version of Mash's Shield.

Expecting the impact of the bullets Chloé prepared her shield only to be met by a noise from the sky, looking up Chloé's eyes widened at the sight of hundreds of wyverns soaring above them. While the majority of them began to circle the group a decent amount broke off towards the French army. Briefly glancing towards Jeanne, Chloé took note how the servant's face was twisting concerned for their countrymen.

Suddenly much to Chloé's surprise just like earlier the wind began to pick up in speed causing the wyverns that stayed to be thrown around in the air, their bodies being twisted and mangled in the high force winds, a chuckle from Siegfried caught her ear as she glanced towards him, "it would seem my Ally has arrived,"

Realizing this is Jeanne's chance Chloé materialized a nameless sword, "Ruler, go help the military I'll distract Berserker." Not waiting for a reply Chloé picked up her shield and charged towards Berserker.

The sound of bullets rang in Chloé's ears as the projectiles slammed against her Shield. Getting within range of berserker Chloé slammed her shield into the mad servant causing him to lose his gun, dematerializing her shield Chloé put both hands on the grip of her blade and pushed the tip right at the Berserker. Before the blade could make impact with the Berserker Chloé felt a massive weight slam into her left side launching her, twisting her body Chloé managed to land on her feet. Looking towards Berserker Chloé spotted that goat themed servant next to him, the servant in question briefly shook their head seemingly regretting using it as a battering ram before materializing a large…. Paint brush?

"You ok Berserker?" the goat servant ask, his voice laced with concern and strangely vaguely familiar to Chloé, the Berserker in question only gave a rough grunt for a response causing the other servant to nod, "that's good, here let's get you a replacement weapon," the servant twirled their brush around as a blue glow began to shine on the end of it, "Noble Phantasm: Genesis" suddenly the blue glow blasted forward into the air creating a long sword that Berserker effortlessly grabbed.

'Genesis… I... I know that name,' Before she could put any more thought into it a roar from Berserker snapped her back into the present as he charged straight towards her. swinging her sword, she attempted to block Berserker's blade only for it to shatter against his, pushing herself backwards as Berserker started his next strike, Chloé materialized Kanshou and Bakuya into her hands blocking the attack.

Without hesitation Chloé swung both blades, only for the mad servant to effortlessly parry Kanshou and launch Bakuya out of her hand. A smirk formed across Chloé's face as she materialized one of Vlad's stakes out of her now open hand launching it towards the Berserker's neck, her smirk quickly faded as Berserker grabbed the stake with his left hand inches away from his throat.

Berserker let out a growl as red vines slowly spread across the stake as Chloé lost connection to it. Forcefully snapping it off her palm she materialized a new sword to stab the Berserker in the chest only for him to use her very own stake to deflect the attack, breaking both.

"How the hell are you a Berserker?!" Chloé yelled, dropping Kanshou while materializing three Black Keys in both hands  shortly before throwing them at Berserker. Right as the first one reached Berserker, Chloé summoned another nameless blade and charged forward.

As Berserker blocked the last key he parried Chloé once more. Instant the pair crossed their blades once more awhile Chloé pushed mana into her left hand. her blade already beginning to crack, "my title long since forsaken... yet her power remains…." right when his blade shattered hers Chloé swung her fist at his chest "Venom!"

Immediately Berserker dropped his blade and quickly grabbed Chloé by the forearm, threwing her to the ground and pinned her while making sure his hand stayed far from the pulsing bee stinger engulfing her's, 'He... knew?' Chloé thought in surprise as the Berserker let out a growl, "Pol… len"

Chloé felt a chill crawl down her spine as that name left berserker's mouth, gritting her teeth Chloé grabbed a fistful of dirt with her free hand and hurled it into berserker's face causing him to release her arm and take a couple steps back. Dropping her Noble Phantasm Chloé launched herself off the ground and materialized another Kanshou and Bakuya. Glancing towards Berserker's companion Chloé took note that the Caster looked shocked and somewhat confused.

Temporarily pushing that to the side Chloé refocused on Berserker. 'Just who the hell are you,' Chloé thought. The Berserker in question now recovered from Chloé's surprise attack simply stared back at her.

Thinking what her next move should be, Chloé remembered what Berserker referred to Jeanne as before attacking the Ruler.

Arrthurrr

She might not be the smartest out of the bunch but she knew damn well that Jeanne had some physical similarities to Mordred who just so happened to be a homunculus clone of the king of knights, Arthur. And combine that with a knowledge of Pollen who was know by the king's knights....

'Could he be a knight of the round?' Chloé thought with concern. Suddenly Berserker let out another growl as he grabbed his discarded sword. Without wasting a moment Chloé materialized a blade that she hasn't used since the day she died, a sword that immediately got Berserker's attention.

His armor started to rattle as he began to violently shake in rage towards the blade, confirming her suspicion.

Entering a battle stance similar to that of her beloved knight she raised their blade, "Why don't you properly show yourself, Knight of the Round Table,"

Seemingly accepting her request, Berserker's black fog slowly lifted revealing his pitch-black armor and a rustic helmet with a thin carved slit. The remaining fog moved down to his left arm and transformed into a pitch-black sword, a chains wrapped around the cross-guard

Chloé gritted her teeth as her mind began to analyze the blade before her, "Ridiculous utterly ridiculous," she let a sigh as the Knight ready both his sword as well as the one given to him from Caster, "it just had to been you didn't.... sir Lancelot"

"it just had to be you didn't, sir Lancelot?" Chloé questioned the Knight, who simply only charged forward in response

Letting out a growl Lancelot slammed his blades against Clarent, gritting her teeth Chloé applied reinforcement to her legs and slammed her left against Lancelot's chest sending him backwards slightly.

Immediately like a rocket Chloé launched herself forward as she swung Clarent forcing the knight of the lake into a defensive position, Chloé could see a crack from across the sword Caster gave the mad knight, which speaking of…

Her eyes quickly glance towards the servant taking note of the shock and minor panic written on their face, returning her attention to her opponent Chloé forced mana into Clarent briefly creating a poor and weak imitation of Mordred's crimson lightning to emerge from its blade. Chloé could feel the familiar lightning burn against her skin as it did the same to the Berserker, causing Lancelot to howl in pain.

Despite the pain from the lightning Chloé couldn't help but smirk as lancelot's gifted blade shattered leaving him only with Arondight, as the lightning came to a halt both swords of the Roundtable clashed again and again.

After several swings Chloé took note that Lancelot's attacks felt stronger and faster then it did prior to using Arondight, realizing she couldn't keep this up for much longer Chloé began deploying similar tactics to her rebellious knight.

Launching herself backwards Chloé threw Clarent at Lancelot, the Berserker immediately blocked the blade launching it upwards as Chloé, enhanced with reinforcement, slammed herself against Lancelot knocking the wind out of him, launching herself off the knight Chloé grabbed the grip of Clarent from the air and spun it, slashing its blade across Lancelot's helmet, exposing his left eye. Growling in pain the mad knight stabilizes himself and charges forward once more.

Landing on the ground Chloé pushed herself forward to strike Lancelot once more only to be met off guard by a gray blur running towards them.

"Berserker catch!" The goat themed servant cried out throwing another blade towards Lancelot, while the throw was definitely far from the best Chloé had seen as the blade almost fell at the knight's legs Lancelot immediately wrapped his hand around the grip seconds before it could hit the ground and swung it upwards slashing her face.

Chloé took a brief stumble back as pain bloomed across her face, the vision in her right eye blurred as the familiar taste of iron filled her mouth. Her grip on Clarent tightened as she blocked another strike from the knight. Despite her blurry vision Chloé could still make out Lancelot's eye, engulfed in madness.

The Berserker let out another growl as he slash his blades with the precision of a surgeon. Chloé felt cuts form across her body as several attacks got past her guard. Moving her left hand off of Clarent Chloé materialized three throwing knives and threw them towards the servant, Lancelot moving himself away from Chloé, easily blocked the blades.

Fighting him like this isn't going anywhere except me in the grave again, I need to give myself an edge or disable… him that's it!

Throwing Clarent at the Berserker once more, Chloé charged forward this time materializing a shining, ornate golden lance. A smirk grew across her face as Lancelot expectantly blocked the sword again.

'Let's hope this pays off,' Chloé thought as she Jab the tip of the spear at Lancelot, as expected the knight moved his blades in an attempt to deflect the spear away from his chest only for Chloé to aim her attack towards his right leg, hitting it dead on.

Chloé's smirk grew into a grin as Lancelot's leg was forcibly returned to Spiritual Form.

'Just like that you saved me again old friend,' Chloé thought, recalling the pink-hair rider as she dematerialized the lance and watched as her fellow bee user fell backwards.

Immediately going for Clarent, Chloé picked up the blade and turned towards Lancelot only to be met by Caster standing in front of the knight, paintbrush staff in hand. The shock and minor panic that wrapped across Caster's face long since abandoned and replaced by a familiar pure hatred as madness enhancement seem to have kicked him into overdrive.

For a brief moment Chloé could swear she was back during her final battle in life, Caster looked years younger, their hair longer, messier and covered in ash and dirt.

Shaking her head Chloé watch as Caster point his staff towards her, "I'll be damn before I let you harm another one of MY teammates, traitor,"

'Another one?' Confusion filled Chloé for a brief moment before an ice cold realization hit her. the mask, the animal theme, the familiarity "I know you… you're were there against Broodmother, you're one of Ladyb-"

"Don't you dare say that name you traitorous bitch!" The now revealed hero of the goat miraculous almost growled out, rushing towards her. Immediately swinging Clarent blocking the attack only for Caster to slamming his horns into Chloé's face causing her to stumble backwards. Before even getting a moment of time to recover Caster immediately hit Chloe in the face with the wooden end of his brush.

"That was for Alya," Caster yelled, punching Chloé square in the gut, "that's for Nino and this is for Kim and Max," Chloé felt his staff against the back of her neck as he repeatedly slammed his knee into her face, chipping one of her teeth in the process.

Dematerializing Clarent, Chloé brought forth a dagger and stabbed it into Caster's abdomen, causing him to stop and let out screams of anger and pain. Forcing herself upright once more, she took a stumble back.

Glaring dangers towards Chloé, Caster twirling his paintbrush, "Genesis," Suddenly a jagged spear appeared in his hand, placing his paintbrush on his back he charged forward. Immediately Chloé materialized Kanshou and Bakuya to reflect the spear.

"I need this done now,' Chloé thought with panic as she briefly looked over Caster's shoulder spotting Lancelot's leg slowly starting to come back. Twisting her blades Chloé blocked another strike from the other hero. Spotting an opening, Chloé slammed her foot into the goat hero's gut causing the dagger still there to be pushed further in making the already enraged hero scream out in further pain.

"You t-think that's going to stop me Chloé?!" Caster hissed out with pure venom in his voice, "I'll keep fighting till you're dead, you hear me Bourgeois!"

"Believe me, if these was any other time, I would have welcome that with open arms," Chloé admitted before reentering a combat stance "But I swore an oath to eliminate the dragon witch and until that is done I refuse to die,"

Immediately Caster shot forward again in a berserker fueled rage, blocking with bakuya Chloé swung kanshou only for Caster to rotate his spear to reflect it causing bakuya to be launched out of her hand. Grabbing the spear with her now free hand, Chloé ripped the spear out of the goat hero's hands.

Throwing the spear over her shoulder, she tries to slash Kanshou across the Caster's chest only for him to push himself out of the way. Grabbing his brush like staff off his back, Caster spun it once more, realizing what he was about to do Chloe charged at him. "Gene-"

"Venom!" Chloé yelled, punching Caster right in the chest as the stolen power of Pollen formed around her fist. A faint yellow glow wrapped around the protector of Pairs.

Taking a moment to breathe she looked the at the miraculous holder in the eyes briefly, insanity from the class skill of the berserker as well as the enhanced hatred from it filling his them. Lifting Kanshou Chloé pointed the blade's tip to Caster's heart before pausing in hesitation, her hand shook.

"I'm…sorry," Chloé almost whispered, Before she could embed kanshou's blade into the goat hero, movement from her left caught her attention. Immediately materializing bakuya, blocking a now fully recovered Lancelot's surprise attack in the process.

"POLLEN"

'Damn my luck,' Chloé cursed as her blades cracked against Arondight. Quickly kicking the still paralyzed goat hero away from her, Chloé continued to block the strike.

Suddenly her swords shattered, before she could fully move out of the way, Lancelot's sword sliced downwards cutting across her armor and pricing her skin.

ignoring the pain, Chloé materialized the sword of the akuma Scarlet Riposte, the blade wrapped over her right arm.

Jabbing the blade towards Lancelot, the Berserker attempted to block it only for Chloé to materialize Mash's shield onto her left arm and slam it into him, sending the Mad knight flying backwards.

Not giving the knight a chance to recover, Chloé rocketed forward, repeatedly slamming her shield into the Berserker, not letting him hit the ground. She tries slashing and stabbing but despite his current state he still easily blocks with Arondight.

Suddenly Lancelot twisted his body so that his feet landed directly on top of the massive Shield, using Chloé's own strength against her, he launched himself into the air and away from the shield bash.

Landing on the ground Lancelot let out a growl as he stood still. Confused Chloé immediately prepared herself for another assault only to feel a massive amount of pain and force slam against her back.

Being launched a few feet forward Chloé's body crashed onto the floor dematerializing Mash's shield she rolled out the way as Caster slammed down a massive warhammer on where she landed.

The Berserker-Caster glared at Chloé as he lifted the warhammer back up "You think you could take me out that easily bourgeois? you're no Vesperia,"

Before Chloé could respond Lancelot let out a wicked howl and charge forward once more raising Arondight

Lancelot launched himself past Caster, Chloé ready herself as Arondight hit her blade. A web of cracks spread across the Crimson blade. Before Chloé could materialize another weapon into her free hand Caster ran at her once more slamming his war hammer into her side, unintentionally saving her in the process as the Crimson akuma's blade shattered from Arondight.

Crashing against the ground Chloé groaned in pain, beginning to push yourself back up Chloé froze as the sound of metal plating hitting itself caught her attention looking up she spotted Lancelot charging at her once more, not having enough time to get up Chloé pushed herself backwards avoiding Lancelot strike with his sword.

"POLLLLLEN!" Lancelot yelled, raising his blade above his head and swinging it downwards towards Chloé.

Time seems to freeze as a bolt of lightning suddenly flashes between the former holders of pollen, blinding Chloé in the process.

Instead of finding a seething pain of Arondight cutting her in half, the sound of blade clashing against blade captured her attention. As Chloé's vision slowly returned she was caught off guard by the sight of a painfully familiar red sword blocking Arondight.

"It can't be," Chloé nearly whispered out as Lancelot let out a growl, moving her head to look up towards her savior, her heart nearly stopped at the sight of the familiar blue hair.

Despite now appearing slightly older then the last time Chloé saw her and being almost completely hidden by a cloak and dragon skull mask, Chloé found it impossible not to recognize the Dragon of Paris, the one arm swordswoman hailed by many as the modern day Lancelot.....

"Kagami"

Chapter Text

"Kagami," both current and former miraculous users said in unison surprise towards the newly arrived servant.

The Dragon hero of three elements said nothing in response simply continuing to stare at Lancelot who simply growled in response.

Suddenly Lancelot and Ryuko burst into action, their blades crossing rapidly each strike faster and more powerful than the one before. Where Chloé struggled against Lancelot, Kagami seemed to keep up in strides. Chloé considers herself to be a great swordswoman but it is clear that Kagami was on a whole nother level entirely.

'Seems she only grew better after Broodmother,' movement caught her attention as she rolled out of the way of Caster who took Chloé's momentary distraction to attack her. With her feet back on the ground she kicked herself backwards into the air, missing a swing from the goat hero in the process, Chloé materialized three throwing knives into her left hand and threw them towards the red-haired servant.

Due to being blinded in one eye, only one blade managed to hit the Madden Caster; the other two were easily blocked by his hammer.

Landing Chloé materialized her bow and an arrow, pumping reinforcement into her left eye she closed her right and took aim. Taking a deep breath Chloé pulled back the string and fired, she rapidly repeated as each arrow embedded itself into Caster's arms, legs or hammer.

Despite the pain inflicted upon his body the hero of the goat miraculous continued forward with reckless abandonment for his own safety.

twisting her bow into a blocking motion, enhancing it with reinforcement she gritted her teeth as Caster's hammer slammed downwards. Suddenly Chloé felt a blast of air from behind causing the mad hero to be launched into the air, separating him from his weapon in the process.

Glancing behind Chloé spotted the right side of Kagami's cloak go wild as air rushed out, the dragon hero's eyes never leaving the knight of the round's.

Not wasting the dragon hero's help, she took aim once more, loading three arrows she fired and quickly repeated the process before dropping her bow and materializing Bridal Chest. The weapon of Frankenstein's monster roars to life as it quickly absorbs the mana from the air and ground.

The arrows landed on Caster's shoulders and chest causing the mad servant to scream, before he could hit the ground Chloé blasted forward and swung the battle mace with all of her might sending him flying across the battlefield.

Landing Caster grab his paintbrush and create a battle ax, They sprinted towards each other once more. Chloé moved out of the way of Caster's strike and slammed the mace into him releasing the built-up mana in the process.

Caster let out a scream as the lightning burned into his skin, at the same time Chloé bit back a grunt of pain as the lightning ate at her own, causing the ends of her jacket sleeves to be burned off.

"Damn… you!" Caster screened out as he rocketed several feet backwards into the ground causing dirt and grass to be ripped from the earth in the process.

Dematerializing Berserker of Black's weapon Chloé let out a sigh and materialized her bow once more, walking towards the goat hero, she noticed how he stumbled as he failed to push himself back up. A massive scorch mark rested on Caster's chest exposing some of his skin, the front of his jacket was almost gone, covered in burned marks.

looking up towards her, she noticed blood on the corner of his mouth, "this… is a scratch, I-I will kill you… Bourgeois, Alya…. Kim, Luka Max, Nino need justice," Caster words slurred out, slowly reaching for his brush.

almost immediately Chloé kicked the weapon out of his reach, ignoring how her hands shook she took aim, hesitating for a moment….

Traitor!

Murder!

….before letting go of the bow string. In slow motion the Counter Guardian watched the arrow fly right into Caster's legs, the Caster let out a scream of pain as he fell back.

"I'm.. sorry " the Counter Guard… Chloé turned away, refusing to continue to watch, glancing towards the other miraculous user she watched as Kagami moved with the grace of a surgeon, blocking each strike from the mad knight. using her powers to stun or berfily contain the Berserker in order to land a hit against him.

Before she could dematerialize her bow in favor of her blades, the sound of roars captured her attention glancing up to the sky a handful of wyverns remained, slowly the beasts descended, taking aim once more she prepared to release a volley of arrows.

"Artillery, FIRE!" A voice cried out startling Chloé as cannon fire ran out destroying several of the remaining Beast. Glancing towards the source Chloé was surprised to see the French military joining into the battle.

'Seems Jeanne was able to hel-' Chloé froze in place as a figure in black launched themselves over one of the cannons, a painfully familiar staff spinning in hand, 'no it can't be,'

The figure batted one of the wyverns in the snout before opening up their open hand, "Cataclysm!" Familiar black and green sinister energy erupted from their… his hand as he touched the wyvern's face causing it to rot and fall apart.

The horder of the cat miraculous plummeted to the earth with the wyvern still underneath him, at the last moment the hero launched himself off the Beast as it crashed into the ground.

Landing on his feet Chloé finally got a good look at the hero only to be in complete confusion, she spotted a knight in Black armor, a black tonic showing a bright green cat paw on his chest and a completely close helmet with a pair of cat ears sticking off the top of it.

"Your… not Chat," Chloé whispered as the knight pulled off a one handed battle ax with a large blade from his back.

"Grimalkin, Prioritize the remaining dragons!" A silver armor man with black hair ordered as he running up to the cat holder, sword in hand, the cat theme knight didn't respond, only charged forward swinging his ax against a charging wyvern.

Suddenly Chloé felt a blast of wind from behind her both snapping Chloé out of her frozen state and launching her forward. Turing behind she saw Assassin on top of a wyvern grabbing Caster, "Retreat! Sanson!" Assassin cried out as the Beast quickly flew away from Chloé, "Lancelot! Buy us as much time as you can. Until the moment your life is extinguished!"

'where the hell did she come from?' Immediately Chloé twirled around and took aim with her bow, firing an arrow towards the Assassin she smirked as it landed right in her shoulder causing the vampire to scream out in pain but none of the less still held on to the wyvern as she made her escape towards Sanson.

The Executioner seems to have taken notice as he jumped backwards from an attack from Mash, raising his left hand he grabbed onto the Assassin's mount's leg as it flew past.

As the Beast moved out of range Chloé dropping her bow, materializing Kanshou and Bakuya once more Chloé charged towards Lancelot and Kagami, the dragon hero seemed to have noticed her as she burst into wind, leaving behind her cloak which blew into Lancelot's face.

The mad knight let out a howl as he tore the cloak off, he barely had time to react as Chloé's twin swords sliced across the back of his armor sending Sparks and broken pieces everywhere. Lancelot spun around and lunged forward with arondight only for Kagami to reappear by her side and block the strike from hitting the Counter Guardian.

Glancing towards her, Chloé noticed just how different Kagami now looked, her spandex suit replaced with red and black armor with dragon heads carved into armor on her shoulders.

Both her original as well as the robotic arms had a blade like object emerging from the forearm, dragon like horns go down her head as a Dragon skull mask covered her face only revealing her golden ember eyes that seem to give off a faint glow

"Arrruther," the Berserker snarled out as he moved himself back slightly, The moment Kagami moved out of the way Chloé charged forward once more, slashing her blades.

Arondight quickly moved, blocking both blades. Kanshou began to crack as Lancelot pushed back, Chloé suddenly felt a weight on her shoulders that vanished as quickly as it came, she watched as a shadow moved from her to Lancelot as Kagami landed behind the Berserker.

Before Lancelot could even react a crimson red sword pierced through his chest. Chloé felt the strength behind Arondight suddenly vanish as the sword slipped from the knight's grasp.

She took a step back as the knight of the lake fell to his knees, looking at the Berserker's exposed eye she noticed how it was no longer filled with madness or rage but… a familiar guilt and shame.

"A-Arthur… Pol..len," the Berserker whimpered out as blue light began to shimmer off his body.

a cold realization hits her as she stares at the dying knight. 'If things were different and I never met Kairi, never took part in the great holy grail war… would I have ended up like him?'

"My...king…. Pollen...I...please,"

"Pollen… forgave you Sir Lancelot," Chloé spoke softly, hating how easily the lie came to her, "she… told me how she regretted not telling you in life."

Chloé couldn't make out the knight's reaction as he closed his eyes and faded into golden light and dust.

"May you find peace, Lancelot,"

Chapter Text

Chloé glanced towards Kagami as the last of Lancelot finally faded away, Before Kagami could say anything the helmetless knight that was with the black cat user ran past them, "Jeanne! Please wait!"

"You are indeed Jeanne d'Arc! Not the Dragon Witch, but a bona fide saint!" the soldier cried out as Chloé watched as the saint in question briefly looked back, pain and guilt on her face before running away, the rest of their allies quickly falling behind.

"Seems… we're making our escape," Chloé spoke up not look in the dragon hero in the eye, " We should… catch up with the-"

"You hesitated," Kagami interrupted, surprise evident in her voice.

"What?"

"You could have killed Caprikid but you hesitated, why?"

"I… didn't want to kill another one," Chloé almost whispered out, she could feel the miraculous holder's brow rise beneath the skull mask, "to many of ou," 'no I have no right to call them that,' "of your teammates' blood has been spilled by me, I don't want to spill anymore,"

Silence eclipses the pair for a few moments before being broken by the dragon hero, "Our allies don't know what you have done, do they?" Chloé couldn't help but notice her tone was less accusing and more questioning.

"Unless they heard Cast- Caprikid at all, no," she spoke in honesty, "They likely wouldn't have trusted me if they knew… I wouldn't stop you if you tell them,"

"I'll tell them only if they ask," Kagami said bluntly surprising the ex-hero

"You… you have my thanks,"

"Do not thank me yet," Kagami stated her hand drifting slightly towards her sword's hilt, "if you even for a second think about betraying us I'll personally remove your head,"

"Tsurugi, believe me if I did plan to betray anyone I'll remove it myself,"

<Gilles de Rais>

He stood still as he watched the last of what he could only presume to be his dear friend's new allies escape the battlefield.

"General," one of his commanders called out, "What was that just now,"

"I don't know," he confessed, relief, confusion and pain all mix into his mind as he continued to watch Jeanne run away, "...re-examine everything we know of the Dragon Witch,"

" Of course sir," the commander said, the sound of marching glazed ears as the soldier presumably walked back towards the rest of their men.

Gilles debated following behind before continuing to stare, "Was it truly Jeanne d'Arc who attacked Charles VII? Or some evil imposter?" He mumbled out as he heard the sound of footsteps behind him once more.

He didn't bother to turn around as the footsteps slowly came to a stop at his side "It's possible... That there may be two Jeanne d'Arcs in this world," Grimalkin's voice spook up.

Turning to face his enemy turned friend, Gilles took note of the familiar small wooden black and red box held tightly in his black gloved hand.

Letting out a sigh he placed a hand onto the destruction bringer's shoulder, "the men and I can handle things from here Gib. Follow her, if it is truly her… help her in whatever she needs"

<Chloé>

"How is Siegfried's wound?" Jeanne asks, turning towards a slightly worried Marie.

"My Noble Phantasm can heal wounds, just a bit. But not this one, it seems,"

Jeanne nodded with a grimace before turning towards the dragon slayer himself "Why were you in that city?"

"It seems that I was summoned relatively early. I was drifting without a Master for awhile till I encountered Ryuko,"

"We briefly fought each other believing the other to be an enemy, till we realized neither of us had a master," Kagami continued, "Later we saw the town being attacked,"

"So you went to rescue them?" Antoinette pointed out making Siegfried nod.

"Yes... Though it's not like when I was alive. Still, with Balmung, I managed somehow," the Saber began, " When you're attacked by multiple Servants, it's not easy to pull off, me and Ryuko got separated during the battle… Shortly after I would receive this wound on my side, then one of them hid me in the castle. My wound wouldn't heal, and I couldn't ask anyone for help either, I had no choice but to wait,"

Mash raised an eyebrow, "Was it a woman who could control a dragon?"

"Dragon? No, it was a turtle... No, a dragon... A dragon turtle?... Now that you mention it, is it possible for that kind of dragon to exist?" Seinfeld paused before pointing at Jeanne, "She had the aura of a Ruler, similar to what you have,"

"It was Saint Martha,"

"So that's Saint Martha, the one who drove off the evil dragon Tarasque. I want to thank her-" Siegfried stopped noticing the grim expression across Jeanne and Mash's faces,"I see, then never mind. Still, I feel guilty that she saved me when I was useless,"

The room went dead silent, Chloé glance towards the young Master whose face was twisting in understanding and sympathy, for a brief moment she was reminded of herself during the great holy grail war, being stuck on the sidelines, helplessly watching as Mordred fought.

“Baptism Rites could probably remove this curse,” Jeanne spoke ending the silence, ”But, a Servant of considerably high rank must perform it–”

“Jeanne, you can do that, can't you?” Marie interrupted causing the ruler servant in question to shake her head.

“No. I tried, but my power alone isn't enough.

Multiple curses have been put on Siegfried, It's a miracle he's even alive. We need another Saint to remove them at once,”

"Yes, we do have a chance," Roman spoke, catching everyone's attention "if Jeanne d'Arc...Sorry, Jeanne the 'Dragon Witch' has the Holy Grail. There is a possibility that a Saint was summoned as the result of the Counter Force," Chloé froze in place, earning a curious eye from Kagami, as the good Doctor continued, "St. Martha was actually summoned, right? Do you guys know any Saint Servants to ask?"

“You're the only Servants that I've ever met,” Siegfried stated as Kagami nodded in agreement

“Jeanne and I don't know any other Servants beside the ones who became enemies,” Mash  spoke

"Staying together is probably safer, but maybe it would be better if we split up?” Antoinette suggested, “Unless we remove the curses on Siegfried, we can't defeat Fafnir can we?”

"Chloé," Kagami said, catching everyone's attention, "do you still have whatever you used against Broodmother, would that do anything against Fafnir?"

Chloé blinked before nodding, "it's one of my two Noble Phantasms…. but I don't think it would work here, at least not anymore, keeping shelter up against Fafnir's fire burned through almost half of my reserves, assuming I can still pull it off I doubt it would last more than a few minutes" she noticed the concern expression form on Fujimaru, "I'll be fine Venom and my projections barely take anything well normally, if I stick with C and D rank ones anyway,"

“I think Marie's idea is a reasonable one. What do you think, Fujimaru?” Jeanne spoke up, bringing the conversation back to its source,

“Break into teams and look around France, sounds like our best option,” the chaldea Master spoke, as Mash nodded "‘Fortunately’ may not be appropriate to say, but the French territories have already been reduced to less than half. Searching for them should be easy, How to split up is the problem…”

Instantly Marie snapped her fingers as her face lit up, “I just had a great idea! Let's draw lots right now!”

……

"since you don't have a new mommy yet, maybe you could ask the mean girl to be your new one?" Jack suggested causing the ex-hero to raise a brow in confusion.

"Mean girl?"

"Yeah, the one you and the man in glasses talk too"

"I still don't kno-," Chloé began before pausing in thought, "wait are you talking about Saber?"

Jack nodded, "yeah her! Ask Saber to be your mommy" she nearly yelled causing Chloé to choke on air, Jack glanced around quickly in a confused panic before turning towards Chloé again, "are you ok?"

Coming down from her coughing fit Chloé shook her head, "yeah, just fine.. so why did you call them mean?"

"She cut our arm with her sword," Jack explained, pointing a finger towards her right arm.

Surprise and confusion engulfed Chloé once more, for a brief moment she thought Jack was making it up but… the fact she knew about Mordred's sword and taking note of the thin line that rested around the girl's arm add further proof of her claim…

'This doesn't make sense, I rarely leave Mordred's side, how could I not remem-,' Chloé began to think before a bone chilling realization struck her.

Can either of you remember our fight against Assassin?

"Your Assassin of black!" She squawked out nearly jumping back in the process.

"you figured it out," Jack giggle in joy before taking notice of Chloé's panic expression causing a small frown to form on the child Assassin, "please don't worry, we're not here to hurt you,"

Raising an eyebrow at the young assassin, she noticed how the Assassin, despite her saddened expression, looked completely relaxed and not ready to butcher her at any given second, 'Relax Chloé, this isn't your first rodeo,' taking a deep breath she nodded, "alright... if you're not here to kill me then... why? Why are you here?"

"We weren't lying when we said why we wanted to meet you, We didn't mean to scare you,"

Looking over at Jack a few more times Chloé couldn't help but be reminded of the guilty expression of a certain blonde-haired boy she used to know, letting out a sigh Chloé hesitantly crouched down to Jack's eye level once more, "Hey it's ok alright? It's an honest mistake we all make those sometimes,"

“Really?” the Assas- the child, she mentally corrected, asked joy shining in her eyes once more.

“Really,” Chloé reassured, trying her best to give a sincere smile. Suddenly before she could do anything Jack practically jumped into her, small arms wrapping around her back as she froze.

After a moment of hesitation, Chloé gently wrapped her arms around the child, returning the hug, “It's okay," she whispered, feeling an unexpected lump in her throat.

…….

“Seems I'm with Marie,” Jeanne spoke as Marie grinned, Chloé couldn't help but roll her eyes in amusement at the sight, glancing towards Fujimaru, she let out a sigh.

“Hey kid” she spoke, catching his attention, holding out her hand she materialized a nameless dagger, “I doubt you'll need it but here, it's C rank so only use it as a last resort,  understood?”

“I- thanks Chloé,”

“Chloé,” Kagami's voice run out causing Chloé to turn towards her, “may I have a word with you in private,”

Hesitantly nodding, the former bee hero gave a reassuring smile towards Fujimaru before following the dragon hero out of the room, an uncomfortable silence forming between them as Chloé closed the door behind them, “so what do you want to tal-”

“You're a Counter Guardian aren't you,"

Chapter Text

“You're a Counter Guardian aren't you,”  Chloé's blood ran cold as those seven words left Kagami's mouth.

The archer's eyes widened slightly as her hand tightened to a near death grip on the door handle before relaxing. Forcing herself to make a confused expression, she turned to face the dragon hero. “Counter guardian, me? Don't be ridicul-”

“Do not take me for a fool, Chloé. Your reaction when Romani mentioned the Counter Force confirmed the last of my suspicions,” Kagami snapped, refusing to let Chloé even finish her sentence.

“Any magus worth her salt would know and be cautious about the Counter Force,” Chloé half heartedly countered. She could practically feel Kagami’s glare beneath the skull mask as she shifted uncomfortably.

“Do you really want to play this game, Chloé?” Kagami questioned, earning only silence as an answer. “Fine. Mage or not, you managed to slay a sentimonster that not even a full team of Miraculous users could hold back. Surely you realize how unlikely that is,”

Silence filled the room as Chloé struggled to come up with an answer. For a moment, she briefly entertained the idea of claiming the usage of a mystic code or saying she had something up her sleeve, but the excuse died on her tongue as she locked eyes with the dragon-themed hero.

Finally she let out a sigh, and looked away. “How the hell do you know about them anyway? That shouldn't be knowledge the Grail would give,”

“As you said, ‘any mage worth her salt’ would know of it,” Kagami explained plainly, causing a wave of shock to fill Chloé. “Alix… also warned the rest of the team shortly after Time tagger. Looking back on it, I’m guessing you’re the reason for that,”

Blinking in surprise, the archer class Servant raised a brow. ‘she… did?’ A mixture of relief and amusement filled her before dread washed quickly followed, “wait… Alaya never appeared to any of you right?”

“So you know its name, then?” Kagami pointed out, before shaking her head. “Not to me, though... I believe  Mar- Ladybug nearly did once or twice,”

“Of course she did,” Chloé growled out with old bitterness before she could stop herself. She could almost feel Kagami’s glare intensify at the remark. Letting out a sigh, she gave an apologetic smile, “Sorry… I'm glad she never accepted. My issues with her aside, she deserves better than that. Though, bringing the conversation back a little… since when were you a mage?”

“Only sometime after your death,” Kagami spoke, her synthetic hand clenching into a fist before relaxing. “I learned my mothers had… more skeletons in both of their closets than I would prefer,” Her gaze sharpened. “Now answer the question, are you one of them? A Counter Guardian?”

Silence broke out between them once more, Chloé finding it harder each second to keep eye contact with the saber class servant. Every instinct in her screamed to run, lie, or hell even draw her weapons much to her own disgust. Finally breaking eye contact, her eyes landed on Kagami's synthetic hand, its metallic gray coating glistening in the candlelight of the room.

“You’re not gonna let this go, are you?” Chloé finally muttered, slight guilt lacing her voice.

“No, I won’t,” Kagami replied firmly, crossing her arms. “If we’re to have any chance at defeating Fafnir and the Dragon Witch, we need every asset on the table. So tell me the truth,”

Suddenly, Chloé felt the air around her stiffen, light from the candles flicker for a brief second as wind forced her to meet Kagami’s draconic eyes. “You want the truth? Fine,” she grumbled, frustration filling her voice as the air returned to normal, “February 2nd, 2019… I was badly injured in the chest during a firefight against a some Dead Apostle in western Australia," broken and fragmented memories briefly flashed through her mind, only to vanish with a shake of her head, "Would’ve been six feet under if it wasn’t for Alaya, it.. it offered to make me strong enough to continue the fight and many others to come, in exchange for my servitude in death,”

“So you sold your soul for what? To escape death for a year and three months more?” Chloé couldn’t help but raise a brow at the lack of disgust in Kagami’s voice.

“To be fair, I didn’t know I was just barely pushing my expiration date back a little bit.” A small, sad chuckle escaped her lips as she looked down, “But no, that wasn’t the reason… I would’ve actually been fine with dying where I was originally going to, anyway,”

“Then…. why? Why sell your soul, your afterlife,”

‘To suffer as nothing more than just another nameless weapon for humanity? To punish myself for what happened to you and everyone else that I wronged as Miracle Queen?’ She thought before frowning, “I… wanted, no need to make sure that one of the monsters that took and ruined your lives got what she deserved in the end. And to protect humanity from monsters like her,”

Silence fell between the two once more for what felt like hours, before Kagami finally spoke again, “Why lie about what you are?”

“Same reason you didn’t immediately join us after we escaped Fafnir,” Chloé pointed out, noting Kagami's shifting slightly,  “Caution… though I suppose in my case, it’s more to stop unnecessary panic and dread. After all, it’s one thing for the Counter Force to bring out Servants like you, Siegfried, and the others, but different ballpark entirely for it to bring out one of its agents,”

“Your Mission?”

“Kill Jeanne d'arc,” Chloé began before quickly adding, “Obviously not the one on our side,”

Before Kagami could ask anymore questions the door shook as someone knocked hard on it, “Chloé! Ryuko! You ok in there?” Fujimaru's voice wrung out from behind the door.

“We are fine, merely catching up,” Kagami answer before the counter guardian, surprising her once more, “will be out in a few,”

Letting out a soft sigh, the Archer gave a smile, that she knew didn't fully reach her eyes, and turn to face the door“ if we're done here, we should probably return to the oth-,”

"Do you regret making that deal?” Kagami interrupted, causing Chloé to stop in her tracks, her hand just barely touching the door nob.

“Do you regret accepting the Dragon Miraculous?” Chloé question back, already knowing the answer as Kagami remain silent, as she glanced over her shoulder for a moment before truing fully towards the dragon hero, “I think… it's easy to say that we both would have accepted our burdens without a second thought,”

“Then you made a mistake about what you claim yourself to be earlier,” Kagami interjected, “You call yourself a monster, and yet your words and actions here and during our previous battle are disproving that same claim,” A confused look spread across Chloé’s face as the saber continued. “Monsters don’t regret their past actions. They don’t comfort a dying foe or hesitate to kill,”

Chloé opened her mouth to speak only to be silenced as Kagami raised her hand, “You also made another mistake. You blame yourself for what happened to me when I’m the only one not affected by your actions as Miracle Queen,” Kagami gestured towards her artificial arm causing Chloé to look away, “Or has your service to the world made you forget I exposed my identity during my first fight?”

Suddenly, Chloé felt a gust of wind move past her as the door clicked open and Kagami began walking toward her, stopping only when she stood beside her, “I believe we’re done for now,” she stated before walking past the Counter Guardian.

“I'm surprise you don't hate me,”  the counter guardian confessed turning to face  Kagami who stopped in her tracks, "even if I didn't wrong you personally, you have every right to, just like Caster dose,"

the saber said nothing for a few moments, “Hating a corpse… doesn’t bring closure,”

……….

September 8, 2018

‘This.. might have been a bad idea,’ Chloé squirmed in her seat, her fingers nervously picking at the edge of her nails, Her gaze darted anywhere but at the members of Black Faction seated around the war table who either stared at her… or at Assassin and her master.

She honestly was still surprised by how easily Jack agreed to her attempt at recruitment, and how her master after a moment of hesitation also accepted it…. Then again dealing with Mordred and Kairi learning about what happened earlier that morning made everything save for dealing with the rest of their allies look like a walk in the park.

A sharp sound of a throat being cleared filled the room, cutting through the tension like a blade. Chloé looked up, startled, and met the annoyingly familiar blue eyes of Ruler.

“Are we ready to begin, again?” her fellow blonde asked, earning a nod from Chloé and seemingly the others as she open her mouth to continue, “Good, as your all aware, Assassin has been,” the Ruler's eyes briefly flicked to Jack, who offered adorable smile in turn, “...taken care off, we can now focus entire on Amakusa and Red Faction,”

“Once preparations are met, we'll be able to conduct an air raid on the hanging gardens as soon as tomorrow,” Fiore continued for Ruler.

At that, Astolfo nearly shot out of his chair, arms practically flailing in pure enthusiasm, ‘Ooh ooh, pick me, pick me! I wanna pilot an airplane!”

Raising a brow, she attempted to bite back an amuse smile as the head of Yggdmillennia shook her head, “I'm sorry, but we already have chosen golems to pilot then,” Fiore explained making the rider slumped back in his seat with a dramatic pout, arms flopping to his sides in defeat.

“However,” Ruler interjected smoothly, steering the conversation back, “A plane is sure to be an easy target, have we found some countermeasures?”

Chloé thoughts drifted towards Archer of Red as Fiore nodded, “We came up with a few, but none of them seem to be a definitive solution,”

Chloé frowned, folding her arms and closes her eyes. Something was scratching at the back of her mind about the situation, and how it felt fami- Suddenly a thought shot though her mind as her eyes quickly opened, “Plan six!” she blurted out. Suddenly every head turned to her again. She flinched slightly under the collective gaze but pushed forward, composing herself with a sheepish smile, “When Ladybug and Chat Noir were starting out,” she began, “they noticed a decent amount of akuma either have similar enough goals to one another or have similar powers, thus they came up with multiple different plans when it came down to dealing with past akuma or ones with similar enough goals,”

“And what exactly is this plan six?” Ruler asked, curiously.

“We turn the enemy’s goal into a trap,” Chloé said firmly, a formerly pleasant memory briefly entering her mind before being ignored, “Amakusa's goal is to save humanity right? Well unless he’s the type to sacrifice the few for the many, we turn that against him,”

“but how exactly will we do that?” Sieg asked.

Chloé looked at Jack who waved at her in responses, then at Archer’s master, her grin growing, “Are we able to create false police reports regarding more of Jack's murders?” Chloé asked, earning a nod from Archer's Master, “then we not only continue them, but make it look like things are getting worse,”

“You can't be serious,” Gordes interjected, skepticism filled his voice, “You actually believe he'll come out and try to stop it?”

“Of course not,” Chloé said bluntly, “he wouldn't be stupid enough to go himself nor would he likely send someone like Lancer or Semiramis…. Rider or Atalanta on the other hand,”

“Would be the more likely choices to be sent,” Archer finished for her with a slight nod of approval.

“If he sends Atalanta, one of our biggest obstacles would be heading straight into a trap,” Caules spoke up, realization plastered on his face, “but wait, if he sends Rider,”

“Then I'll handle him,” Archer started surprising Chloé, “Though if we are trying to take out Atalanta, may I suggest children be added onto the reports or parents of small children, that could increase the odds of her being sent or coming on her own free accord,”

Her grin widened into a genuine smile as she watched Ruler, and Yggdmillennia's new head nod, “Not to be the bringer of bad news,” Kairi spoke up, earning the rooms attention, “but that only takes care of one problem, surely a fortress like that has its own defenses,”

Instantly Chloé deflated as Fiore frown, “he's right, taking out Atalanta will only solve half the problem, getting past Hanging Gardens defenses will still be a challenge itself,”

“Oh, if I remember the true name of my noble phantasm,” Astolfo groaned dramatically, closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair.

Chloé nodded absently. “Yeah, that would be- wait, what?” Her head snapped toward him. A beat passed before the whole room turned to stare at the Rider in stunned silence.

Astolfo popped one eye back open and blinked at the attention, then tilted his head, “Huh? Did I say something weird?”

“W-hat did you just say?” Ruler questioned in utter shock, before the ex-hero could.

“You mean about my noble phantasm?” Rider asked, “I was saying I kind of forgot what its true name was,”

Her eye twitched, "Ridiculous utterly ridiculous," Chloe mumbled, as Astoffo pulled out a book and dropped it on the table.

“It’s super convenient though. All I have to do is carry this around,” he said nonchalantly as Archer’s eyes widened in realization.

“Wait a minute, isn't that a spell tome?” Archer point it out, “One that could tear down all Mage craft, if I recall correctly,”

“Then with this, we can just break through the Hanging Gardens defenses,” Caules realized.

“Rider, how in the hell do you just forget something like this!?” Chloé groaned, rubbing her temples.

“For once, I agree with her,” Gordes mumbled under his breath.

Astolfo shrugged, arms folded, “If it helps, I remember the condition needed to activate it!”

Sieg blinked, “Condition?”

“Yep it definitely has to be a moonless tonight,” Astolfo started, “so I just need there to be no moon in the sky then I will be ready to unleash its true name,”

“…And how exactly are we supposed to arrange that?” Chloé muttered

“Tell me, Rider,” Fiore spoke up, “will a new moon work,”

“Yep,”

“Okay so when's the next one?” Mordred asked.

“It's four days from now,” Gordes stated before Chloé could check on her phone.

Chloé exhaled and leaned forward, “Four days huh? So that means we got three days to kill Atalanta then, any ideas?”

Notes:

Hello how is everyone? Yeah my bad for this basically ending up on the back burner for slightly over a year... Gods has it really been that long???

ANYWAYS, I can't say when the next chapter will be out, but I promise it's not going to take anywhere as long as it did before! I'll beat my FGO account on that!
