Even More Accents

Summary:

Paul's trying to watch a video on Youtube and needs it translated. The team find out TK knows Russian.

And that he's not the only one who knows another language.

TK knows Russian and Hebrew. Marjan knows Arabic functionally and French. Carlos knows Portuguese. Tommy knows Spanish.

Based on the languages the actors and actresses know irl.

A continuation of "Accent", "Accents", and "More Accents".

Notes:

I own nothing.

I used Google Translate. Sorry for any inaccuracies.

I only put in what has been confirmed via the internet the other languages the actors and actresses know. If anyone knows any other languages any of the actors or actresses know and want me to add those in so it's accurate I can.

Edit: I haven't seen Rafael speak Spanish in a Live yet, but Lopi told me that Rafael also speaks Spanish, so I did add that in.

I couldn't get a Hebrew translation on Google Translate, I'm sorry.

Also, I don’t know traffic in Austin, Texas. So if that guesstimate is wrong, I’m sorry.

Thank you to anyone who kudos or comments.

Work Text:

“Ugh, I wish there was closed captioning on this YouTube video or that someone put a translation in the comments. Or that I just spoke Russian.” Paul said, looking at his phone while the 126 lounged around the kitchen at the newly rebuilt firehouse.

Paul had his arms propped up on the island table, phone in his hands. Mateo was to the left of Paul. Marjan was across from Paul. Nancy was to Marjan's right and Judd was to Marjan’s left. Tommy and Owen were leaning against the counter where the coffee machine was. Everyone had a drink of coffee or tea.

“Put it into Google translate?” Judd suggested.

“Yeah!” Mateo said.

“It’s great, but it might not be completely accurate, unfortunately.” Marjan said, taking a sip of her coffee.

Paul hummed in agreement.

Everyone looked over to see TK suddenly coming up the stairs. “Sorry I’m late. Still getting used to the new route from my and Carlos’ new place. I left an hour and fifteen minutes early.” TK huffed. He went to stand beside Nancy to her right.

“What’s going on?” TK asked.

“Paul needs someone to translate a YouTube video that’s in Russian.” Owen commented, sipping his coffee.

TK looked at his dad then at Paul.

“Oh! Okay. Yeah, no problem. I’ll translate it, Paul.” TK said, his eyes lit up, and he put his hand out for Paul’s phone.

Paul looked from TK, down to his phone, and then back up to TK.

“I’m sorry, you’ll what?” Paul asked, eyes wide and his voice slightly higher and filled with surprise.

“Translate the video?” TK said, his voice slightly confused, arm still outstretched.

“You speak Russian?” Mateo asked, amazed.

“Yeah? I thought you guys knew that.” TK said, still confused, putting his arm down.

“No. We did not know that.” Paul said, voice still slightly high.

"Say something in Russian." Mateo said, still amazed.

"YA mogu perevesti video." TK said. "I said I can translate the video. I also speak Hebrew.” TK said, slightly smiling.

Everyone looked impressed.

“Does anyone else speak another language besides English?” Paul asked, looking around at everyone.

“I speak Arabic functionally and know French.” Marjan said.

"Ohh! Say something in French and Arabic!" Mateo said.

Marjan looked at Mateo, widened her eyes slightly looked down at the table and then up around at everyone. "Pouvons-nous regarder la vidéo? That was French. I asked if we can watch the video. Alan? That was Aarabic. I said now."

Everyone looked impressed again.

“Carlos knows Portuguese. Which I think everyone already knew.” TK said, shrugging.

"I speak Spanish." Tommy said. "Consigamos una traducción de ese video. Let's get a translation on that video."

Everyone was impressed once again.

"Nice." Nancy commented.

"Should I call Carlos and ask him to say something in Portuguese?" TK suggested.

"Yes!" Mateo exclaimed.

TK smiled and got out his phone out of his pocket and called Carlos. "I should just catch him before his shift starts." TK said. A few seconds later Carlos' face appeared on the phone screen. "Hey, babe." TK said, grinning. "Hey." Carlos said, smiling back. "What's up?" Carlos asked.

TK glanced around at everyone then back down at his phone. "Well, we're having a language conversation. About other languages we all know besides English. And someone -" TK started.

"Mateo." Marjan said, looking at Mateo who responded with "Uh, yeah! I want to hear Carlos speak Portuguese."

Everyone grinned at both of them.

"Mateo wants to hear you say something in Portuguese." TK said.

"Uh. Okay." Carlos said, thinking. TK pointed his phone outward toward everyone. There was a pause. "Eu não sei o que dizer." Carlos said, laughing. "I just said I don't know what to say."

TK let out a laugh and turned his phone around.

"I also speak Spanish. Anyways I've got to go, babe. I'll talk to you on my break." Carlos said.

"Bye. Love you." TK said.

"Love you, too." Carlo said before TK ended the call and put his phone back in his pocket.

Once again. Impressed.

“I gotta get on Duolingo.” Mateo said, mostly to himself.

“All right, translate that video.” Paul said, handing his phone over to TK.
