Zelda descended the three steps of the fabric store, her guard, nay, chaperone in tow. On her tiptoes, she tried to spy Link in the crowd - he preferred to catch up with old friends instead of shopping.
Over there!
She quickly hooked her arm with his, enjoying the small pieces of freedom she was gifted with. Soon, she felt something soft brushing her legs and frowned at a straying cat. Or better at a half dozen straying cats.
"Link?" She muttered. "Why are all these cats following us?"
"Hm? Oh, they always stick around for a while before they mind their own business."
"You skipped the fabric store for... petting cats."
" Catching up. And petting." His gaze lingered on hers for a beat. "Oops. I guess I forgot to mention that I could talk to animals when I was..." He glanced back at the guard. "... you know."
"You could what???"
"Speak to animals," he whispered.
"Even to… say… cuccoos?"
" Sassy pack ."
"Language, Link!" Zelda giggled. "That's incredible. And a little crazy."
"Says the woman with magic hands."
"Touché." She laughed, leaning her cheek against his until the guard behind them cleared his throat and she pulled back with a sigh.
