Work Text:
Han Joon-Hwi and Seo Ji-ho were close. They never used to be. But they were now and it got to a point where they were just so used to each other’s company that it got to the point where things felt odd when they weren’t around each other for more then a day. They saw each other every day so it was what they were used to.
Life at Hanguk Law school continues and the student were all off for a study week. It was a thing the university did do give students a break for all the lectures without them not having to do any work. With the week to study, almost everyone would leave the dorms and go home for the week, Sol B had already been dragged away by her mother the night before. Sol A would be leaving tomorrow since she wanted to spend some time in the library with Ye-Seul. Ye-Beom and Bok-Ki were current busy packing and would be out of here tomorrow afternoon.
So essentially everyone was going. Include Ji-Ho. He would go back home, spent time with his family and study. Joon-Hwi had thought that he would be gone for a maximum of three days only and as they walked into their dorm room, carrying the library books Ji-Ho planned to used, the news dropped.
“Are you spending 2 or 3 days home? Because the last screening for that movie you wanted to see is the day after tomorrow so depending on when you come back we might make it” The taller asked placing his own library books on his desk.
The shorter boy bit his lips as he turned to around to his friend. “Actually I’ll be gone the whole week” he corrected.
The look on Joon-Hwi at the news was actually heart breaking. He looked disheartened and sat on his bed. “Oh”. he looked down and frowned. “What am I supposed to do while you're gone?” He asked. No one else was around.
Ji-Ho shrugged as he pulled some clothes out and placed the neatly in his bag. “What do you usually do when I'm gone?”
“Wait for you to come back” Joon-Hwi answered honestly making Ji-Ho pause what he was doing and turn.
Oh god that was tugging on his heart strings badly.
Joon-Hwi looked so honest and adorable that it made Ji-Ho’s heart throb desperately. His knew that his best friend’s relationship with his family was….. non existent. When people went away to visit their families and stuff, Joon-Hwi always stayed at the dorms, Sol A was there a lot of the times to keep him company since she could easily travel back and forth from her home and the dorm and felt bad leaving him alone. And honestly Ji-Ho always felt bad leaving the boy alone which was why he only spent 2-3 days home before rushing back. But this time he was going for a whole 7 days as they wouldn’t see each other for a while. His mother insisted he stayed longer.
Sighing he walked and grabbed Joon-Hwi’s suitcase from the wardrobe and pulled it out.
“Pack your bags” he said.
“Huh?”
“Pack you bags. Your coming with me” he repeated.
“Coming with you? Coming to stay at your house with you for the week?” Joon-Hwi asked surprised.
“Yes. So pack your bags and leave room for food since you know mom always sends me back with pots of food” Ji-Ho went back to packing.
The look of pure happiness that shone across Joon-Hwi’s face as he jumped off his bed and began to pack diligently. Joon-Hwi had met his mom a couple of times and the women was always so kind and welcoming to him so staying at her place wouldn’t necessarily feel awkward.

The week at Ji-Ho’s house was probably the best week Joon-Hwi had in a long time. Mrs Seo was so kind and welcoming and cooked them a lot of delicious meals. Some of Ji-Ho’s family members came to visit and he got to play with his younger cousins. Everyone loved him. He was fun, charming and witty and told everyone embarrassing story of Ji-Ho as they were roommates. The two slept in Ji-Ho’s room, with Joon-Hwi sleeping on the spare mattress and spoke for hours until they ended up falling asleep with the TV lightly playing in the background.
This lead to him being invited by Mrs Seo to come again and that he was always welcomed. It was nice to be away from the university for a week and even better when you got to spend it with a best friend and his best friends family. It was a reminder that he had dependable people in his life.
