Han Joon-Hwi and Seo Ji-ho had a developing relationship. They started off as just roommates, nothing interesting or special. They only spoke when necessary and didn’t seek each other’s company.
This led to them being ‘kind of’ rivals who both wanted the top score in class and be the best they could be. They became study buddies so they spoke more about school stuff to each other but their interactions didn’t change that much.
Then the death of Seo Byung-Ju struck the school and the question of how he was killed and who did it was in the air. When looking at possible suspects Ji-Ho’s mind turned Joon-Hwi, the nephew of the deceased. The discovery of those class lead to him him wondering if Joon-Hwi was the murderer which was unfortunate for their relationship. But the truth came out and it passed by quickly and actually helped their relationship to be more open. It was surprising, Joon-Hwi should have been upset towards Ji-Ho for believing he was capable of a thing like murder, but he forgave him easily enough and moved on which Ji-Ho was extremely glad and thankful for.
They began to talk more but things that weren’t just related to school or the murder of Professor Seo or any of the other shitty things that were happening in their lives. Conversation varied between different topics, usually when they were eating together or in the comfort of their own rooms since that was the only time they could relax even for a moment.
It was nice, being able to get away from it all, even if it was just for a while. They kind of ended up needing each other’s company since they had both lost people close to them, having someone around who wouldn’t just leave or disappear on them was nice.
But the reality will always break that down. They were furiously trying to find Professor Seo’s killer. Trying to help Ji-Ho get the justice he was trying to get for his father. Trying to get good grades. It was all so stressful.
So their relationship, their soft friendship was greatly appreciated by both of them.
With their new relationship, things were different. Texting was something they did now and they almost always texted each other at least once in a day when they weren’t seeing each other for a long period of time. Leaving each other post-stick messages on their study seats were more frequent (the inside jokes they had were beginning to confused everyone). Joon-Hwi almost always left Ji-Ho a positive and uplifting message that almost always made his roommate roll his eyes and put the note in his note books for motivation later on.
Studying together and having legal debates in parks, or on the floor of their bedroom will never not be so interesting. They really learnt a lot from each other.
Joon-Hwi dragged his roommate to try out new things in life, coming out of his comfort zone instead of sticking to what he knew. (They even went to the gym together a couple of times recently after Ji-Ho said he wouldn’t go running because he had a feeling that Joon-Hwi would make it into a race).
Ji-Ho changing his ways and making enough ramen and rice for two people was a thing now because Joon-Hwi had some sort of ramen detector and always appeared when he was eating and always asked for a bite. Soon enough Ji-Ho just started making enough for the two of them and didn’t even give the boy any time to ask if he could have some as he would always hand him the extra pair of chopsticks as soon as he was close enough.
Drinking beer together was a plus because it was no fun getting drunk on your own.
Helping each other dry and brush their hair after a shower was something that had been a little too domestic for Ji-Ho at first but Joon-Hwi was kind of like a child at times and his face would get so soft that Ji-Ho actually found it really hard to refuse. So usually gave in when asked and took the hair dryer and comb and dried his hair, listening to Joon-Hwi chatter as he did. The taller boy often offered to dry Ji-Ho’s hair and he would sometimes let him, but it was kind of a silently know fact that it was more fun when Ji-Ho was drying hair Joon-Hwi.
So there, their relationship had developed. It went from two boys who knew mother about what other and barley spoke, to roommates who dried each other’s hair and ate ramen a little too often.
And that was nice.
