Idk why I decided that what the world needed was a But I'm a Cheerleader vid in French with almost no kissing and just a lot about homophobia and self-acceptance, but I did, so happy Pride!
This vid has French and English subtitles. I draw more from key words and phrases and the repeating refrain of "Ne dis pas aux copains" ("Don't tell our friends") than from any really literal line-by-line lyrical interpretation, so you shouldn't need to understand all the French to get the broad strokes of the journey from secrecy to openness.
The one bit of French that I do want to highlight (because my half-assed translation does NOT capture this) is that "Elle était à ton cou quand tu l'as decrochée"—"It was around your neck when you unclasped it"—sounds a lot like "She was on your ass when you shook her off" and that actually I am very, very funny for choosing the clip I did there.
