Summary:

The universe where you become something you never thought of. This is where Michael's adventures begin.

Chapter Text

The universe is infinite and it changes every second. Perhaps, there are lots of universes, not one as we used to think. Every second people make the hardest decisions of their lives. Their lives take on a new meaning and lose it at the same moment they found it. But is meaning in life needed? Do we need life at all?

Universe, where Michael lives, is a world where you can be everything in general, but you can't choose who you want to be. Sadly, here you're not the one who controls life - life controls you. On a random day of your life, you become something mystic, something that doesn't exist. Most likely to become an elf with sharp ears and green curly hair, or an old woman with an ugly nose and old brown skin. Variations can be very weird and unexpected. This is what life is.

And this is how exactly Michael became someone who he never thought of. He was studying to be a programmer and he liked the thing he did. He was creating characters for video games, characteristics for them, designs. What can be better than creating video games, which will gain a big amount of money?

This is what Clifford liked to think of until he was kidnapped by the suspicious blonde guy. Though Michael didn't analyze the way that guy looked, one look in his eyes let him know that he's safe. But how can he be safe if he had just been kidnapped?

Anyways, this is how destiny brought him to the Skies. The Skies is a higher place of the world where angels live. Every day of their existence angels help the ones who need help. It's impossible to find out where and to whom you're going to be sent. Once you come to The Skies, it becomes your home.

There are three kinds of angels - Guardian Angels, Saviour Angels, and Observer Angels. Guardian Angels are supposed to help humans from Earth to overcome their mental issues. For example, these issues can be panic attacks, depression, or self-harm. Guardian Angels must help humans whose state of mind is sadness.

Saviour Angel is that kind of angel, who can save humans from disease. Imagine that somewhere in the world, there is a girl who got to the hospital. She's resting now. Tomorrow she will find out why she got to the hospital and what has happened before that moment. Tomorrow she will notice bandaged wrists and a catheter in her left arm. People will be saying that the fact she's alive is a miracle, but they don't know what kind of miracle happened to her. Random tricks with the weather, random people - this is what had found her.

Observer Angel is that exact angel who looks after humans. They're the ones to find out if humans need their Guardian Angel or not. All the time that Observer Angels spend watching the screen is priceless. You have to do so many things to become an Observer Angel. Every night, Оbserver Аngels, replacing each other, send Guardian Angels to the world where someone needs help.

At first Observer Angels did not send Michael to the worlds, because he just got to The Skies. During his first years of being there, he was studying to be an angel.

One day he found out about the most important rule of angels.

"What do you mean?", Michael stood up, frowning. "Why?"

The most important rule of angels was losing their memories. After two years of stay in The Skies, angels have to forget about their life before The Skies.

"Sadly, these are the rules, Michael.", Luke shrugged and moved to the exit, but Michael followed him. He stopped him with one tap on his shoulder. A blonde guy stopped and turned around.

"But why?", green eyes looked in blue ones, they had hope and interest. Clifford hoped that his memories won't get lost. Luke sighed and looked at the angel, flexing his fingers. It didn't look like a sign of anger, it was anxiety.

After a while he answered:

"For safety.", rubbing his eyes, the angel left the building, but Michael still was following him. He needed answers.

"For what kind of safety? What will happen if I will have my memories of where I had been living before The Skies?", Hemmings suddenly stopped and turned around to the blonde.

"Well, imagine that you've been sent to the world where you lived.", Luke started moving his hands, just so he can explain the situation better, "You must help someone, but finds out - they already know you! If they have seen you before, you won't be sent to help people anymore."

This is where Michael's heart almost fell. He had spent two solid years studying and living in The Skies. It has become his goal - to become an angel!

"Is it necessary?", Michael sighed, drooping head and shoulders. Luke nodded without knowing that he didn't notice. He put his palm on a shoulder and patted it. After a while, Hemmings told Michael that there's a place where his memories will be kept in case of something.

If angels will ever need their memory back, they can always come to the Temple of Remembrance, where all angels' memories are kept. From the moment they were born, all of their lives until the time they came to The Skies. When angels touch his echoes of memories, they will have them in their minds for a few hours.

"Tomorrow at dawn, in Zoe's Temple.", Michael nodded and said goodbye to the angel. After that, he came back home.

The next night Clifford was thinking about the things that are supposed to happen to him at dawn. Is it the right decision? Maybe it isn't too late to bring everything back? Maybe it isn't too late to come back to his world?

Michael sighed and decided not to think about this. He spent two years becoming an angel. It's his destiny. He was sure, he is the one to become an angel. At least that's what Observer Angel told him when he first got here. Michael would like to help people and this is what he will be doing.

The next morning Michael came to Zoe's Temple. This is where angels make special procedures, which help angels to lose their memory. Even though the effect is low, angels won't remember anything before The Skies the next day because memory loses only during the day.

After procedures in the temple, Michael headed for the cliff. If you think, that a higher place of the world are clouds and angels have white wings and look like a God, well... You're partly right. They really have clouds, but angels didn't have wings. Even clouds have cliffs which could lead to the lower world.

But the blonde one didn't want to come back to the lower world. While sitting on a cliff, you can see things that angels want so desperately. Angels come here to see their dreams and unexpected things. They are as far as angels and Earth. Clifford sat on a massive cloud with his legs dangling.

He looked into the distance and an air ring formed around him, which began to turn into fog. Fog surrounded the angel from head to toe. Michael looked up and saw clear blue skies. Suddenly fog disappeared, leaving an air ring, just like in the beginning. Angel looked around, holding out a hand. His hand was coming through cloud cover, making a hole, which disappeared too.

Greenlight appeared in front of Michael's eyes. That means an unexpected thing. An air window, where you can see another world, appeared in front of Michael. It's impossible to predict, which world it is because it's a secret. There was a girl in that air window, she was sitting on her bed. She was holding a photobook in her hands. She was flipping through the pages, a shining smile on her face. Michael noticed his picture on one of the pages. His hair was pink, it made him smirk, he remembered about these good times. After he realized what he had just seen, he ran to the Saviour Angel, who was Luke.

Saviour Angels were the ones who knew everything about angels and The Skies, and Michael knew only one angel who could help him. This is why he headed to him. Happily, this day wasn't busy as always.

Once blonde ran to angel's house, he stopped to catch his breath, one hand on the door, one hand on his knee. When his breathing became normal, he knocked on the door.

A few minutes later a blonde guy in an oversized T-shirt and trousers opened the door. He smiled and took a step to let Clifford in. Luke didn't understand the reason for Michael's visit, but he was guessing.

"Tea?", blue-eyed suggested, going to the kitchen. Michael agreed and sat at the table, sighing.

"I want to ask you something...", Michael started, but then he became silent, rethinking the things he means to say, "...about angels and memories."

"Oh.", Luke stood up, straightening. "What exactly?"

"I was sitting on a cliff and I saw something unexpected.", blonde one was surprised, but he continued to make tea. Unexpected is something rare, not all angels can see it. "There was a girl, she held a picture of me in her hands. Is it possible?"

Hemmings sat in front of the angel, holding out a cup for Michael, who took it. Luke carefully sipped tea, hissing, seems like tea was hot. He stuck out his tongue, trying to cool it down, which made Michael smirk. After a while, Luke said:

"I've heard about it, but in real life...", the angel became silent, thinking about things that are happening right now, "I don't know how to explain this, but in the world where you were born, there is one human who will still remember you."

"But wasn't I supposed to get erased from people's memories?", Michael asked.

"Yes you were, but these procedures are still being tested, and that girl is the one, who has your picture."

"But what if she will need help and I will be sent to her?"

"That's impossible, Michael, Observer Angels had foreseen it and it won't happen.", Luke shrugged and continued to drink tea.

This is where Michael, the Guardian Angel, has started the story of his life.
