Post Midnight Exchanges and Heartfelt Sentiment

Summary:

Just a late night Trobed drabble that has no real plot.

Notes:

Soooo I don't really know what this is or where it was going because I've been in a writers block for ages now but I decided to post it anyways because why not.

Songs I listened to while writing this because the soundtrack is an important part of any writing process:
All Eyes on Me - Bo Burnham
The Rose Song - Olivia Rodrigo
Reckless - Madison Beer
Where'd All The Time Go - Dr. Dog
(might've paused to watch an episode of Mythic Quest here)
Boy Bi - Mad Tsai
Sun Goes Down - Lil Nas X

Work Text:

The clock on the nightstand reads two thirty-seven am when Abed turns his head to face the blinking red numbers; He’s tried falling asleep with the rest of the world, but for whatever reason it seems to be escaping him tonight. The sheets rub against his skin and the moonlight coming in through the window paints stripes across the exposed back of the boy stretched out beside him. Carefully, he shifts his position until they’re just barely touching, arms brushing against one another.  “Hey, Troy?”

Troy hums when Abed says it, shuffling closer to pull the other boy into his arms. “G’sleep, Abed.” He drawls, spoons his boyfriend against his body and buries his face in his dark locks. Troy’s breath is hot against the back of Abed’s neck, and his hands splayed across Abed’s torso ground the older boy and ease some of the tension pooling in his stomach.

“Do you ever think about what would’ve happened if you hadn’t gone on your trip?” Abed says then, feeling Troy still behind him as the other boy’s head rises from the pillow to look down at him. His eyebrows crease with concern and there’s a frown pulling at his lips, and Abed wishes he’d have just been able to fall asleep instead of being left alone with his runaway thoughts. “I mean, would we have even been together? Would you have stayed at Greendale? Would we even be in Los Angeles right now-” He’s cut off by the soft pressure of Troy’s lips against his own and delicate fingers grazing his hip, tracing utmost reassurance into his skin.

“Abed,” Troy whispers when they pull apart, a smile gracing his expression. “I don’t believe there’s ever a universe where you and I aren’t together.”  Abed lets his hand travel down to meet Troy’s at his hip, a content sigh escaping his lips at the other boy’s words.

“I love you,” Abed tells him, winding his hand around the younger boy’s neck and coaxing him down to meet his lips once more. Troy hums against his lips, his grip on Abed’s waist tightening. “In this universe and every other one.” Abed breathes when they separate, eliciting a grin from the boy above him.

“I love you, too, buddy.” Troy responds without missing a beat. “In this universe and every other one and the ones beyond that.” He falls back down beside Abed when he says it, drawing the older boy into his arms and trailing lazy kisses across his collar and neck. “Now go to sleep, I’ll make you pancakes in the morning and we can watch Sixteen Candles in bed for as long as you like.”

“I’d like that.”

“I know you would.”

“Goodnight, Troy.”

“Night, babe.”
