Wei(shen) Family

Summary:

I've been writing bits and pieces of this story for a while and was considering posting it, so I wanted to post the plot and maybe bits and pieces of the story to see if people are interested in it. It started off as a Bridgerton AU (because it's such a good show, I've binge-watched it twice now and gotten my entire family hooked, and we usually don't like period dramas), and then turned into more of a Wayv family AU.

Work Text:

WAYV Family AU (Ancient China/Bridgerton Fusion Version)

Plot: The Wei Family is a long and respected line in China, their ancestors being that of royal advisors, generals, and great and renowned poets. The last Wei Patriarch died not too long after his late wife, leaving the line to his only son, Wei Kun, and his wife, Li Yongqin, a foreign beauty with relations to the Thai Royal Family. By the time Kun's father died, they had already had three children. Their eldest child, an elegant daughter, Sicheng, and the twins, the strong and handsome Xuxi and the witty and beautiful Xiaojun. A fourth child, a curious and stubborn daughter, Yangyang, was born after his death. Follow them as all four children come of age and must navigate through the politics and secrets of high society, searching deep into their own hearts and minds to secure their happiness for the future.

(I'm not great at summaries, so here are some things to peak your interest)

Wei Kun is a family man through and through, and he would do anything for them. He might even betray his kingdom...

Wei Yongqin, better known as Ten, loves her homeland of Thailand, but she hates returning to it because of a certain extended family...

Wei Sicheng does not want to get married despite having long expressed a desire to do just that. She is traumatized from something in her past, but no one knows why...

Wei Xuxi has been raised as the man of the family, but has always seen his sisters as equal (or maybe even higher in priority) than himself. This has always been dissuaded by his peers and teachers, but he has held steadfast in his beliefs... or so he thought...

Wei Xiaojun is worried for the future. She wants to find love, happiness, and friendship in a spouse, just like Ten found in Kun and vice versa. But Xuxi and Kun's interference is not helping, and neither are the secrets waiting for her in Thailand when she visits with her mother.

Wei Yangyang has always been the most carefree out of the family. But she is starting to see that she is on a tight leash, a noose tightening around her neck as she comes closer and closer to the age of maturity. She has been engaged to her dearest friend since she was 10 years old, but she's only just noticed that not everyone is exactly happy with that fact...

Crown Prince Yuta has known since a young age who he intends on marrying. The problem is that with the civil unrest in his country stirred up by rebels and councilmen and nobles who wished for war instead of peace and his father's decreasing health, he must marry soon. This is not how Yuta wanted things to go at all, and now things are all messed up and the unrest is much worse...

Princess Jungwoo was neither of her parents' favorites, but that was okay, because she was her brother's favorite. Despite what many may have thought, she loved her brother more than anything in the world. He was her dearest friend, her confidant and her partner in crime despite their age gap. But when a handsome navy captain gets washed up on shore and ends up in her life, she cannot help but wonder if some things are worth being selfish for...

Queen Taeyong was just that. A Queen. But she was also a mother, and she could tell when her children were hurting. And she wanted nothing more than to help them.

Seo Johnny wasn't King, he was King Consort, which meant he could not make decisions without Taeyong's approval. Not that he did, of course. He valued her opinion above all else, but there were some things that were untouchable when it came to her. And unfortunately, they could not wait forever...

General Jung Jaehyun's thoughts were probably the farthest thing from marriage they could be. Wars, battle strategies, negotiations, peace treaties. Only... perhaps it wasn't so different after all. And perhaps marriage had much worse consequences should things go south...

Regent Lee Taeil had abdicated the throne many years ago for his little sister, Taeyong, and it was going much better than he even dreamed it would (and he dreamed it had gone really well). But he couldn't make everyone happy and the one person whose opinion mattered disappeared at the first hint of him proposing, which left him wondering if he did or said something wrong. So, when faced with said person again, why did she look so guilty?

Kim Doyoung was raised to be honorable. The younger sister of one of the nation's most formidable knights, she basically grew up in the palace, carefree and using her days to explore the huge buildings with roofs higher than a mountain. That's when she ran into the sweetest, kindest, and yet oddest boy she had ever met, and she instantly hated him. Only to find herself growing more and more fond of him as they grew. But when she learned his plans, she couldn't take it and begged to go study abroad. But a storm changes those plans and she ends up a servant, only to find it much more enjoyable than she would have thought. That is until she ends up back home...

(Just FYI, this is probably going to be a series of some sort, as I have ideas for the characters after they go off on their own or in pairs/after the main story is complete).

Please comment if you are interested or have any ideas that might help a bit with the plotline or the details of the stories or any questions you might have! If I notice a definite interest in it, I'll post a chapter or a larger snippet and see how that fares!

Also, sorry for not uploading as much today and yesterday! It's been a bit of a mess. I had to take my sister out and then that ended with me sore all over and a huge bruise on my arm that left me barely able to move it, much less write, and then I was sick for most of today! I'll try to keep updating more often, but at least for now, I'm going to try and take it a little easier, at least until this huge bruise fades! Thank you for being patient!
