He catches his mind wandering when he least expects it. As a man who has been driven and focused throughout his life, Hannibal is bewildered at the fact that he has started to daydream about Will Graham. He hums around the kitchen and finds himself smiling as he sketches.
He is distracted constantly. This morning he nearly crashed the Bentley as he thought of the soft skin of Will’s cheeks that he stroked so often. He struggles to hear what his patients tell him during their appointments. Hannibal is too busy replaying his conversations with Will.
He prepares meals for himself and Abigail, and when they sit down to eat, he gets distracted looking at the empty chair to his left. What would Will look like sitting at his table when they are in Florence together?
Everyone notices the change in his behavior. They ask if he’s met someone, and he shyly says yes. He told Bedelia that he saw the opportunity for friendship with Will. But Hannibal knows he desires much more than friendship with his soulmate.
Will quickly fills every room in his mind palace. As he closes his eyes at night to prepare for the few hours of sleep he usually gets, Hannibal travels through each of the rooms. He sees Will fixing his boat in his garage and driving the Aston Martin he planned to buy him.
In the most guarded room of his palace where Mischa rests, he finds Will there with his seven dogs. They nip at him playfully, and his heart aches at the sight of Will teaching Mischa how to train his pets.
He sees family. For the first time in his life, Hannibal feels complete.
