Heaven and hell.
One desired and on despised.
Angels and demons.
One adored and one abhorred.
Good and evil.
Right and wrong.
But what about the grey in between.
The dubious hues of stormy grey, and the peaceful silvery clouds.
Was there such a thing as a good demon? One who clawed their way tooth and nail from the depths of hell. Not for revenge, but for peace.
And what about a selfish angel?
We know about fallen angels, they fall to earth when they no longer hold the purity to stay in heaven. So it’s only right to assume risen demons end up in the same place.
Earth.
Japan.
Tokyo.
The first recorded meeting of fallen angel and risen demon.
Oikawa Tooru and Iwaizumi Hajime.
Both beings of a higher power, invisible to humans, but cursed to live among them. Until one day they bumped into each other.
Literally.
“Hey, watch where you’re going,” Oikawa said offhandedly, looking for some sort of apology, before he actually realised what had happened.
“I’ve never needed to until now,” Iwaizumi replied simply, staring at the brunette in front of him. “Fallen angel?”
“Well yeah, what else would I be? What did you fall for?” Oikawa asked, rubbing his shoulder he’d bumped into Iwaizumi with.
“Fall? I’m not an angel. What about you?” Iwaizumi asked, raising an eyebrow. He didn’t think he needed to ask, the personality gave everything away, but it was still polite.
“Selfish, self absorbed apparently,” Oikawa shrugged. “If you’re not an angel, how can you see me? What’s your name?”
“One question at a time,” Iwaizumi chuckled. “Iwaizumi Hajime. And I’m a risen demon. Angels can fall, demons can climb. But apparently it’s easier for you to fail than us to succeed.”
“A demo- no wonder my shoulder burns. Thanks,” Oikawa rolled his eyes.
“Now I have two questions. What’s your name? And where were you going?” he asked.
“Oikawa Tooru. I was just wandering aimlessly. Not like I have anywhere to be, you know?” Oikawa replied, almost immediately forgetting his shoulder and focusing back on Iwaizumi, who smiled slightly.
“Well, Oikawa Tooru, why don’t we go somewhere and chat. We both have an eternity to pass, and passing it alone seems a little…”
“Lonely?” Oikawa finished. “Trust me, I know. I’ve been wandering for years. You have somewhere in mind?”
Of course Iwaizumi had a place in mind. The left corner of his mouth lifted further in a quirked smile as he responded to Oikawa.
“Of course. What are your opinions on heights?”
And so began the journey of an angel and demon, each in the wrong bodies, looking for some purpose on Earth together.
