“Kurt invited us to a Halloween party he and Blaine are throwing,” Tina says, heading over to Quinn in front of the stove and wrapping her arms around her from behind, hooking her chin over Quinn’s shoulder. Quinn leans her head against Tina’s momentarily. “He said it’s also serving as like a housewarming party, kind of, since they haven’t had one yet.”
Quinn hums, turns her head to kiss Tina’s temple. “Morning, sleepyhead.”
Tina laughs quietly, contentedly, nuzzling her forehead into Quinn’s neck. “Do you want to go? I said we’d think about it. It’s the day before Halloween to avoid the full moon.”
Quinn thinks for a second. If she’s being honest, she would rather stay in and cuddle with her girlfriend so close to a full moon. The day before, she usually starts to feel some of the more uncomfortable symptoms of the change her body will be forced through, and Tina’s cold skin is the perfect antidote for a lot of it. Also her kisses. Quinn loves those.
But… it has been a while since they’ve been out with their friends. Having to hide the fact that one of them is a vampire and the other is a werewolf is a pretty good deterrent from social gatherings. Maybe one time won’t be too bad.
“Sure,” Quinn decides, sliding her breakfast out of the pan and onto a plate. “I kind of miss seeing everyone.”
“Yay,” Tina says quietly. “And, I mean, Kurt and Blaine know, so we don’t have to explain or anything if we need to leave early, okay?”
“Okay,” Quinn teases mockingly, causing Tina to scrunch her face in the adorable way that makes Quinn want to kiss her nose, which she does.
“I wouldn’t have thought of you to be a werewolf, Quinn,” Kurt says with a wink. “Too proper and poised.”
“Shut up,” Quinn laughs. Truly, though, she’s glad they have friends who know the truth about them. It makes the hiding a lot easier sometimes.
Tonight they’ve gone with hiding in plain sight. Both Quinn and Tina have their real fangs showing as part of their “costumes” as a werewolf and vampire, respectively. Quinn has morphed slightly to allow her claws to poke through as well.
“Your fangs are so realistic,” says Blaine as he comes up beside Kurt, grinning and faking an awed tone.
“And my claws, if I may say so myself,” Quinn says, playing along. “We’re kind of experts at the Halloween costume thing.”
Tina giggles and says, “Watch your back, Kurt, we’ll be putting you out of a job soon!”
Kurt rolls his eyes. “As if I’d want to make vampire and werewolf costumes for a living. I’ll gladly leave that to you.”
The calls of some other guests lead Kurt and Blaine away together with a wave, and Quinn and Tina are alone in the kitchen.
“You okay?” Tina says softly, holding Quinn’s hands, which have been trembling slightly, between hers.
Quinn nods. “Yeah. It’s nothing, just excess energy.”
Tina smiles, exposing her fangs that even Quinn rarely gets to see. “Good. I want to dance with you.” Quinn laughs as Tina jerks her away from the counter, into her arms in the middle of the kitchen.
“There’s no music,” Quinn sings as Tina pulls her close.
“That’s the point,” Tina says. “Soon the karaoke machine will be fixed and all we’ll have to dance to are the wails of a group of moderately to extremely drunk young adults in showbiz trying to relive their high school national champion show choir glory days.”
“We should sing a duet.”
“Changing the subject?”
Quinn grins and lets Tina take the lead.
