Work Text:

The sun glinted in through the window, directly into Starscream’s optics. It caused the seeker to blink and slowly start to wake up. As he got up he felt the large arms of Skyfire wrapped around his midriff. Skyfire had his head leaning against Starscream’s shoulder vents. The shuttle was still deep in recharge. He often slept in, but for Starscream the moment the sun was up he had to be up.

He started to slither out of Skyfire’s grasp, trying to get out of bed without waking his conjunx, but the moment that Skyfire felt the change in movement the shuttle gave out a sad moan.

Suddenly his arms clamped around Starscream. The seeker gave a squawk as he felt himself pulled back into the sheets, now trapped.

“Skyfire!” Starscream looked at the shuttle. His optics weren’t even on but the shuttle was doing his best to snuggle closer to Starscream.

“Skyfire, get off me. I’ve got valuable work to be getting on with.”

“Noooo...” Skyfire dreamily mumbled. “Stay here with me…”

He pulled Starscream back down and the seeker suddenly found that both his arms were trapped. The shuttle nuzzled his face against Starscream’s.

“Sky! SKY! No cuddling! It’s time to get up!”

“But it’s so early…” Skyfire whined. “We don’t have to go to work for ages yet.”

“Let me go! I have a meeting with Perceptor at eight.” Starscream realised Skyfire intended on keeping him completely trapped. Starscream tried kicking the shuttle but it was hard to manoeuvre a really good kick and also Skyfire had incredibly thick shuttle grade plating. It normally meant Skyfire would withstand a kick that would have others screeching in pain. As a result he was immune to all Starscream’s attempts and he only cuddled him closer.

“You’re terrible and incorrigible!”

“I know you are but what am I?”

“Skyfire, that doesn’t even make any sense!”

Skyfire mumbled something in response in a way that sounded like he was already dosing back to sleep.

“Skyfire! Don’t fall asleep on me!”

“Just push the meeting back. It’ll be fine.”

“No it won’t. It’s not like Wheeljack where it’ll be cancelled thanks to a spontaneous explosion. Perceptor is punctual.”

“No, he won’t be on time.”

“And how can you tell?”

“He and Shockwave had a date last night.”

“What?”

“A date. I saw the photos from last evening. Judging by how many photos showed them actually dancing they both must have had a lot of highgrade. They’re probably hung over and sleeping the night off.”

“What? That’s absurd. Neither of them are prone to dancing,” Starscream said this but he quickly checked social media and found yes, there were plenty of photos of Perceptor and Shockwave’s merry evening together. A lot of the photos hadn’t been posted by them, but by other onlookers at the club. Naturally it was always Reflector who had the best quality photos. “The two of them at Jazz and Soundwave’s club…”

“Yep,” Skyfire said dreamily, snuggling again into Starscream’s side.

“You would have expected a night between them to be the most boring thing ever. Just them talking about quantum physics over a game of chess,” Starscream mused aloud.

“Who knows?” Skyfire shrugged. “Maybe they just brought out something in each other. Either way I think we’ll have plenty more time for cuddling.”

“You incorrigible sap,” Starscream said before he wrapped his arms around Skyfire and the two both drifted to sleep in their cuddles.

Later, ten minutes before Starscream’s meeting was actually meant to begin, he got a comm message from Perceptor. He sounded awful.

[I’m terribly sorry! I may have to cancel our meeting. I am not feeling very well this morning...]

Starscream gave a light groan.

[It’s alright, we’ll reschedule.]

He heard Perceptor breathe a sigh of relief.

[Thank you. I'm really sorry again I just... I don't think I'd be good company this morning.] He sounded exactly like a mech who was not used to being hung over.

[Do not worry about it at all, but do let me know the full story of your escapade with Shockwave later.]

Starscream shut down the call before Perceptor could ask how he knew about that, and he went and repositioned himself to be even more secure in Skyfire’s arms.

“Mrmm?” Skyfire made a noise like a disturbed cat.

“It’s alright, Skyfire. I’m not going anywhere.” Skyfire’s arms seemed to wrap tighter as he said that, keeping Starscream completely safe and secure in his arms. “There’s no place I’d rather be.”
