Work Text:
It was a sunny day on the 94th floor, one of the last floors of peace. A haven for tired regulars, it was where many stopped their climbs.
They had arrived a few days ago, in a shower of rain. Now the skies had cleared up, hues of pink and orange dotting it. They all sat down in the living room of their giant suite, waiting for Khun to debrief them on this floor.
“Everyone is here?” Asked Khun, looking around the room.
“Where is Lauroe?”
Hatz picked up a bundle of blankets. “He’s here.”
“Perfect.”
Lauroe was then unceremoniously dropped onto the floor by Hatz.
“The 94th floor is the Floor of Serenity. It’s known for being one of the last peaceful floors in the tower.” said Khun, in his usual monotonous voice.
The whole team sighed in relief- after their last few encounters with Jahad’s army they were bone tired.
“There are only a few rules on this floor,” the bluenette continued. “1. There is absolutely no fighting, including between team mates. 2. Rankers are prohibited from entering the floor, except for the floor’s ruler. This should mean that we won’t have any problems with Jahad’s Army or FUG while we’re here. 3. All ties to any faction are nullified, so Bam, you’ll lose your Slayer Candidate status, and Endorsi will lose her Princess of Jahad title. This is done to lower hostilities, and it also means that you can’t do anything for either side here, which is why Hwaryun isn’t here.”
Right after Khun said that, a red haired woman with an eyepatch walked out of the closet door.
“What makes you think I’m not here?” she said with a smirk on her face.
Khun ignored her, and went back to talking about the rules.
“The last thing that I was meaning to say, before I was interrupted,” he said in annoyance, “was that there is no floor test here. When we are ready to leave we will file an appointment with the ascension office to use the teleporter. This brings up the question: how long would you like to stay?”
“Forever.” Endorsi moaned.
“No,” Khun countered. “Anyone else?”
“How about we stay for a month?” Shibisu asked, the voice of reason in the group.
“That sounds good.” Khun said. “The meeting’s over.”
With that, everyone left the room, until only Khun and Bam remained.
“Did you want to talk about something?” Khun asked, his voice softening.
“Yeah,” came Bam’s reply, “Do you want to come get some ice cream with me? I was just wondering if you wanted to, and of course you don’t have to -
Khun then surged forward, placing a sweet kiss on Bam’s cheek.
“You know that you’re really cute when you ramble.” he said, brushing Bam’s hair out of his face, “Of course I’ll go get ice cream with you.”
Bam’s cheeks flushed a brilliant shade of red. “T-Thank you.”
“Why are you saying thank you, my love?” Khun sighed. “We’ve been dating for so long, and you’re still so nervous. Come on, let’s go.”
The pair left the suite and stepped out onto the busy street.
“It’s been a while since we’ve been somewhere so peaceful,” Bam said, looking around at the busy street.
“I don’t think we’ve ever really been somewhere like this. Everytime we think we’ll get a bit of peace something happens, and I’m just happy that we’re able to stay here,” Khun said, “Maybe, if we win the war, would you like to come down and stay here, my love?”
“I’d love that, Aguero.”
Finally they reached the ice cream shop. It was fairly small, but the line for it stretched around the block. Khun grabbed a menu for both of them to browse, and they went to stand at the back of the line.
After a few minutes of browsing the menu Bam asked, “What do you want to get? I’m thinking about having the honey lavender ice cream.”
Khun held Bam’s hand and fondly squeezed it. “Of course you’d get that. I think I’m going to get the coffee ice cream.”
“Absolutely not,” Bam said firmly. “Your caffeine addiction is bad enough as it is! Pick something else.”
“Coffee ice cream doesn’t even have that much caffeine in it!” Khun lied, stopping when he saw Bam’s pout.
“Fine, I'll get something else.”
After a few minutes Khun asked, “What about vanilla creme fraiche? Does that sound good to you?”
“I think those flavors could work together,” Bam smiled, “And there isn’t any caffeine in it!”
After waiting in line for around 10 minutes, the two of them were ready to order at the counter.
“Hello, what would you like to order today?” asked a regular with mint green hair and purple eyes.
“Hi!” said Bam cheerfully, “Can I get a scoop of the honey lavender ice cream in a sugar cone?”
“Of course!” came the reply. “And what would you like, sir?”
“I’ll have a scoop of vanilla creme fraiche ice cream in a cup, please.”
“Alright!” said the girl, scooping out Bam’s order.
After a minute she handed them their orders and the couple paid.
“Thank you! We hope to see you again soon!”
“Thank you!”
After the pair left the shop, they went to a nearby park. The park was gorgeous - there were a lot of flowers blooming and baby ducks swimming in the pond. Khun and Bam chose to sit by a bench that was overlooking the river, contently eating their ice cream together.
“Bam, do you want to try some of my ice cream?” Khun asked, curious about his lover's reaction.
“Sure,” Bam said, swapping his cone with Khun’s cup.
“Oh! It tastes amazing Khun, I don’t think I’ve ever had ice cream like this before.”
“Same here. Your ice cream really reminds me of you - well it’s not as sweet as you,” Khun said, reaching forward to lick some of the ice cream off of Bam’s face.
“Khun! We’re in public!” Bam whispered, shyly curling into himself.
“My love, don’t worry,” Khun hugged Bam.“Everything's going to be just fine.”
“Thank you, Aguero.”
