Summary:

Tucker wants to see Specs in a specific outfit.

Notes:

Hi, I hope you enjoy! This is my first fic in FOREVER (years!!!!!) and I yearn for more tucker/specs content so I must supply it myself.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was a Sunday, around noon, when the topic was first brought up. Specs was working in their garden, planting seedlings for harvesting later in the summer. Tucker was with him, though he certainly wasn’t helping.

Specs glanced back to where Tucker was sitting in the haven of shade on their back porch; perched at their small glass table, fiddling with something that Specs couldn’t make out from his angle on the ground.

“Hey, Tuck?” Tucker lifted his eyebrows in show of acknowledgement, keeping his eyes on his project of the day. “Would you grab me some water?”

“Why do I have to do it?”

“Because I asked nicely and you swoon for me?” Specs grinned up at Tucker, making eye contact. “Also, I got dirt glove hands.” He held up his hands, clad in gardening gloves with little carrots on them, a present from Elise.

Tucker grunted in response, mumbling about how he could have removed the gloves, but rose from his seat, disappearing through the back screen door and letting it close with a loud snap behind him. Specs turned back to his zucchini seedlings.

A few minutes passed and the door creaked open and slapped shut again. Specs listened to Tucker place something on the table before he descended the two stairs that led to the grass of the yard. Tucker walked up behind Specs and gave a quiet “here”. Specs stood to accept the glass, stretching out as he came to full height, and exchanged a small smile with Tucker as he sipped from the glass handed to him.

“Would you mind putting it with you at the table, for me?” He asked, handing the now half full glass back.

“Yeah, sure,” Tucker lingered by Specs, holding the glass and squinting at him. Specs smiled and kissed his cheek before going into a crouch to continue with the zucchinis. Though Tucker continued to linger.

Specs grabbed another of the seedling trays, moving onto the tomatoes now, and placed it in front of him. He pinched the seedlings in their pockets to loosen them before pulling them out and relocating them into the dirt of the garden with the other sprouting seedlings. Tucker continued to linger. Silently. Another row of seedlings planted. More lingering. Moving onto the squash seeds. Tucker’s eyes on his back.

Specs dropped down from his crouch, sitting in the grass beside the garden with his legs bent in front of him. He squinted up at Tucker, who stared wordlessly up at him.

“Yes?”

“Hm?”

Specs sighed, “what?”

“What ‘what’?”

“Why are you just loitering there? If you wanna hang out you’re more than welcome to help,” he gestured to the garden, then paused and dropped his arm. “Actually, I take that back. I want this done in a specific way. Either way, what are you doing?”

“Just watching,” he responded, as if that was enough answer for Specs. He knew that wouldn’t be enough answer for Specs.

“Just watching? Just watching what?” He held his hand up, still squinting, to block the sun and get a clearer view of Tucker’s expression, though it got him nowhere. Tucker relayed no more emotion or clarity to the conversation on his face than he did in his words. Though he did spout a slight smirk before speaking again.

“Your ass.”

“My ass?” Specs gaped out before he could think to say something else. Tucker’s smirk grew.

“Yeah,” his eyes flicked down to the aforementioned, and now mostly hidden, part of Specs’ anatomy.

“Why? Just ‘cause?” He threw both hands up in question before letting them both fall to his lap.

“Well, more specifically I thought about how I should get you some cutoff overalls for when you garden. Really show off the goods,” he gestured to Specs with the water glass he was still holding, which no doubt had gone warm by then.

“Cutoff….overalls,” he said each word slowly, like they were a new concept to him. Unfortunately for Specs, they weren’t. “Are you crazy? Do you really think that’s ever something you would catch me dead or alive wearing? Cutoff overalls? Really, Tucker?”

Tucker smirked, “really.”

It was a few nights later, Wednesday, and the two were decompressing at Elise’s after a day of work. They were watching Clueless, Specs choice. Specs had been teasing Tucker, making comments about Paul Rudd’s varying degrees of “boyfriend energy” throughout the movie, though quietly enough that it wouldn’t disturb Elise in the loveseat beside them. He could tell Tucker was getting a little huffy, but it only spurred him on more in his teasing.

“Oh, god. This scene?” He murmured to Tucker. “What I wouldn’t do to happen across Paul Rudd in a 90s dance club.” Tucker hummed low and displeased in response, eyes on the screen while Specs looked up at his face.

“Yeah,” Tucker finally hoarsely whispered back. “What I wouldn’t do to see you in that little number,” he gestured to the screen and Specs’ eyes flicked over, immediately blushing as the dots connected.

The character Tai stood on screen in a long sleeve bubblegum pink shirt with floral accented denim overall shorts. Specs leaned away from where he had been reclined against Tucker’s warm side, gazing at him full on and forcing him to make eye contact. The sight that greeted Tucker (Specs’ eyes wide behind his glasses, eyebrows raised causing creases in his forehead) made Tucker grin unabashedly.

“Halloween costume, maybe? Or maybe just a costume for me? But cut a little higher, so I can see your ass hanging out,” he whispered.

Specs’ response was a tornado. He dully pounded his fists into Tucker’s arms and legs, his eyebrows furrowed in concentrated anger, while spouting various: “I’m gonna beat you into a pulp” “you’re never gonna see the light of day again, you hear me?” “Tucker you’re gonna get it.”

Elise sat up and turned towards the two quarreling men, one beating the other to no avail while the other laughed openly.

“Come on, fellas,” she smiled, chuckling. “Steven, cut it out. I thought you wanted to watch this movie!” Specs stopped his assault, leaving his hands grasping Tucker’s arm, and turned to face Elise.

“Honestly, Elise, I think I’d rather beat this guy until he’s dust.”

“None of that,” she laughed. “Don’t make me separate the two of you.”

Specs huffed and shot Tucker a heatless glare before settling back against his side, allowing Tucker to replace his arm around his shoulder as it had been before. They watched quietly and contently for a bit, until Tucker tightened his arm around Specs’ shoulder and neck, pulling him close before placing a kiss to his ear and letting his nose rest against the top so his lips were directly in line with his ear. Specs immediately flushed at the unexpected intimacy.

“The idea of you,” he whispered against his ear, “gets me so hot.” Specs swallowed heavily and flicked his eyes quickly to Elise, who seemed to be dozing, before turning to look Tucker in the eyes, their noses bumping side by side.

“That...specific idea?”

“Mmm,” Tucker hummed in agreement.

Specs’ eyes flicked down to Tucker’s lips, kissing him briefly. Tucker looked at him with heavy lidded eyes, his face relaxed but pleased. They finished the rest of the movie without incident, other than Elise’s light snores and the jingle of Warren’s dog tags.

-

Preposterous. It was preposterous that Tucker’s sweet talk had swayed Specs enough for him to end up in a farm store. A god forsaken farm store. Gazing at the racks of overalls stacked between the shelving of cowboy boots and bandanas.

Leaving the store, his wallet lighter of what he actually considered a fairly decent price, he huffed and thought that at least he could give the extra fabric to Elise for her fabric stash.

-

Tucker came home around 7:45pm, the sun was setting and their house was dark. He’d just finished a one-on-one he’d had with Elise; testing out some new devices he had been upgrading and tinkering with.

“Specs?” He called out, turning on the kitchen light as he entered, putting his keys down in their key bowl beside Specs’. He snagged a cookie from a tupperware container on the countertop and conquered half in one bite before calling out again. “Babe?”

He turned down the hallway leading towards the back rooms and their bedroom, noticing the light on in the latter. He finished his cookie in one bite, taking his time going towards the bedroom. He rounded the doorframe.

Specs’ ass. Specs lying on his stomach on the bed looking over his shoulder at Tucker as he came in. Specs in cutoff overalls that were far too short to be deemed appropriate for public use smirking over his shoulder.

“Holy shit,” Tucker gaped, absolutely floored by what he was seeing. “Please come here.”

Specs crawled off the bed and got up, making his way towards Tucker. It was now that Tucker noticed he wasn’t wearing a shirt under the overalls. When he got close enough Tucker grabbed him by the straps and pulled him against him, kissing him fiercely before pulling back.

“I love you so much,” Tucker said, making Specs smile, “I’m gonna pound you into next week.”
