Chapter Text

Liam scrambles through suitcase after suitcase. His arms start to shake uncontrollably. He knows he had it. He has to. He throws a suitcase across the room as he sees Mason walk in from the corner of his eye.

Mason has pretty decent reflexes for a regular human. Liam watches him duck as the suitcase slams into the door.

“What are you doing?” Mason asks.

“I think I lost it.” He whines.

“Lost what?” Mason inquires, with a raised eyebrow.

“My little wolf.” He mutters.

“The one Theo gave you?” Mason asks.

“Yes.” He says.

His face grows a deep red. Theo gave him a little stuffed wolf for his birthday. It was a silly gift and not to be taken seriously. However, Liam has grown fond of it. It reminds him of Theo calling him “Little Wolf.” Since he has recently gone away to college he wanted to keep it safe.

“I’m sure it’s somewhere.” Mason says.

Liam looks around the room. What if Theo figures out he misplaced it? He will think Liam doesn’t like his gift and he might feel bad. His face turns into a scowl.

The thought of Theo thinking he might not like something he gave Liam, is something he cannot live with. They have grown closer since he moved in to his house and he is pretty sure he is Theo’s best friend. At least he hopes so. He demands to be at least that to Theo.

“What if it fell out?” He asks, his eyes widening at the thought.

“I’m sure it’s fine Liam. I have never seen you this alarmed over a stuffed animal.” Mason smiles.

“It’s not JUST a stuffed animal. It’s from my……..uh, Theo.” He says.

Liam sighs. What a terrible friend he is. He literally left hours ago and he already lost something from Theo.

Theo. His heart aches at the void in his chest. It was there all week, but today he feels the void is worse than before. He wishes Theo was here to reach out to. To buy him another wolf. He is pathetic, but the chimera is his…..friend. Really good friend.

“Your Theo?” Mason’s eyes show amusement.

“That’s not what I meant.” He argues.

“Okay, sure thing. Why don’t you call him?” Mason points out.

“I don’t need to call him. I just need to find the wolf.” He explains.

“You have been a wreck all week before we got here and today in the parking lot, Corey was sure you were going to lose it.” Mason says gently.

Liam scoffs.

“I was not going to lost it. That guy never learned how to properly park his vehicle. Who needs two parking spaces for one car. It’s inconsiderate.” He growls.

“Yes, but almost ripping his door off seems to be excessive.” Mason says.

“So is taking two parking spaces.” He scowls.

Mason shakes his head. His eyes light up as Corey enters the room holding two smoothies. He hands one to Mason and smiles at Liam.

“Is Liam still a ball of rage?” Corey asks.

He is right here. He doesn’t have to refer to him like he is elsewhere. Ball of rage seems a little much if you ask him. He looks down at his ripped t-shirt and withdraws his claws.

“He lost the wolf toy.” Mason whispers.

“I can hear you. It’s not a toy. It’s a stuffed animal that I use to remind myself of….” He attempts to explain himself.

“Theo.” Mason and Corey chime in.

Liam narrows his eyes at his friends. Okay, so maybe he has a crush or something. It’s innocent but not totally crazy or unheard of. The guy saved him a few times and he is nice looking.

His eyes light up when Liam talks to him about his day and their nice to look at it. He has pretty nice sculpted arms too. It could be due to being supernatural, but he thinks Theo might just be an all around in shape guy anyway. There is also the thing he does with lips. The way they crinkle into a shy smile when Liam stands a little too close sometimes.

“We lost him.” Corey says, taking a sip of his smoothie.

Mason smiles fondly at him and holds his cell phone up. He snatches it away and sits on the bed with a loud flop. He doesn’t want to call Theo, but he does have to tell him he lost his gift.

He dials the familiar number and waits. His heart starts to beat at an irregular pace as he waits for Theo to pick up.

“Hello?” He hears his mother say.

“Mom? What. Where is Theo?” He asks.

“Oh, he left. He said he had some errand to run but he left his phone here. I tried to run it out to him, but he drives so fast.” His mother replies.

“Oh.” His heart sinks.

“Do you want me to give him a message?” She asks.

“No. I will take to you later.” He says.

He hangs up and sees two worried faces looking back at him. He avoids their gaze and sees his clothes thrown everywhere. He should finish unpacking. He starts folding his shirts when he feels a hand on his shoulder.

“You can call him back Liam.” Mason says.

“I know. I’m fine. I want to unpack. That’s all.” He says.

Mason nods and Corey hands him the rest of his smoothie. He frowns but takes it. Corey and Mason are always so over the top. He is fine. He only feels bad about losing the little stuffed wolf. It was nice to look at and see everyday.

His phone vibrates in his pocket. He scrambles to his feet and quickly puts it to his ear.

“Theo?” He asks.

“Stiles.” Stiles says.

Liam let’s out a loud sigh. He doesn’t know why he thought it would be Theo. His mom has Theo’s phone but he almost misses his voice. His mind was set on hearing Theo’s voice today.

“What does that sigh mean?” Stiles asks, his voice giving off a hint of annoyance.

“Nothing. I just thought you were someone else.” He admits.

“Nice. Well I had to go back to Beacon Hills to pick something up from Deaton. Apparently there is a possibility of trolls and fairies being real. Who knew.” Stiles explains.

“Okay. I’m not in the mood for a supernatural thing right now.” Liam says.

“Supernatural thing? Your a werewolf.” Stiles scoffs at him.

“I know but I….” Liam complains.

“Look. Do you want this wolf or not? Theo gave him to me and said you left it. I have to pass by your college to meet someone about a troll. Is it a childhood toy or something?” Stiles asks.

His heart almost flies out of his chest. He feels the weight on it lift and it almost lifts the void in his chest. Almost, but not quite.

Theo had it and he remembered it. He smiles widely at the phone, but his smile quickly fades as he realizes Theo didn’t call or come to drop it off. He sent Stiles.

“Why didn’t he come?” He asks glumly.

“Gee, don’t sound so sad. I’m not that bad. He said he had to work.” Stiles explains.

“Oh. Of course. Yes, bring it by. I will be here.” He says.

“K. Be there in a bit.” Stiles says.

Liam sits in the floor and stares at the pattern in the carpets. Nice place. His mother made him get a place off campus so he could “study”. He listens to the chatter down the hall from a neighbor. She take excitedly about a guy she met and how she knows it’s true love.

He was in love once. Hayden was awesome and she helped him to better handle his werewolf while she was in Beacon Hills. Now his friend Theo helps him with his werewolf.

He wonders when spring break is. Maybe he will pay Theo a visit. Just to say hello and hang out. He worries about him sometimes and his nightmares. It took Theo a while to open up to him about it and he always checks in.

Sometimes he even stays in Liam’s room. It helps the nightmares. He even has gotten Theo to open up and talk about his nightmares. He had to explain to him that’s what friends do. They help each other and talk things out.

Theo is always so confused about friendship and what it means. He almost punched him when Liam asked him to move in. He said it was because he thought he was making fun of him. Poor guy.

His heart sinks again at the thought of Theo thinking he would actually make fun of him. He would never do that. Theo is probably one of his favorite people.

Yeah. He will visit Theo soon.
