Summary
“There was an idea….” Fury started but Natasha wasn’t in the mood to hear it. She had read everything already, she knew what the plan was.
“…but that idea never happened. There are no Avengers. You never got around to “rescuing” Clint. You were never able to find me. Thor would have been left to rot in a mental institution and Steve would have been found by Hydra. Tony and Banner who knows what they would be doing if we hadn’t stepped in. Fury you can tell me all the ideas you want but that one never happened.” She spoke to him harshly.
To infuriate her further he smiled at her. Natasha had never thought it was possible but he smiled and an uneasy feeling came over her.
“So, what are you guys? All working together in a group? One might call you a team. Maybe you don’t call yourselves the Avengers but a rose by another name still smells as sweet.” Fury smirked at her and she glared at him starting to stand to walk out the room. Her mind drifted as she thought about everything they went through. Somehow, they still become the same things that they vowed they would never be. They were still the Avengers whether they liked it or not.
