“I like you, damnit!”
The car is silent after the words leave Lovino’s mouth, and well, he’s ruined everything. He knows it- Antonio, his best friend, will go to college in the town over and stop talking to Lovino all together; how could he be so stupid?! So selfish?!
Then, Antonio pulls his jeep to the side of the road, and turns off the car, turning towards the younger- only to find him halfway out the door. “Wait- Lovi!” He reaches over the console to grab his wrist, “What are you doing? Stay here and talk with me.”
“You… you don’t want me to leave? I thought you wanted me to walk from here…” The Italian slowly sits back inside, shutting the door once more.
“From here?! Are you insane? Lovino, this is miles from your house.” The Spaniard shakes his head in bewilderment, but continues on with his thought, “You like me? Like, you like like me?”
Lovino snorts, “Who uses ‘like like’ anymore, you giant nerd,” he quickly composes himself. “Yes, I ‘like like’ you. I just… didn’t want you to go out with Julchen. I know that isn’t fair, but fuc-” He’s cut off by Antonio’s finger against his lips, ‘shh’ing him.
“You don’t need to explain yourself, silly. I like like you too!”
