Work Text:

Antonio had left for two weeks, checking out different colleges and universities with Francis and Gilbert. While he and Lovino frequently texted, and called whenever possible, it was still fairly lonely. Ludwig would come over essentially everyday over the summer, to sweep Feliciano away with him for whatever adventures they went on.

Emma came over for a bit, but halfway through the two weeks she had gone to visit family in Europe, and yeah, that was fair, but still. Without the Belgian girl to keep Lovino company, he got bored- so bored he accepted his brother’s invitations to be with his friends. The little trio the younger Italian had actually wasn't terrible. Kiku was quiet and polite, but he could also be hilarious, and as much as Lovino wanted to dislike his brother’s German boyfriend, Ludwig was quite tolerable, and much less eccentric than Gilbert.

On Monday (eight days until Antonio came back), it rained- no, scratch that. It poured. Feliciano had insisted his friends stay home so no one would get sick, which left both of them in their house alone. For some reason, the AC was still on, and neither boys felt like turning it off, instead opting to just bundle up.

“Lovino!” Feliciano called, bounding down the stairs, “Do you want- oh! Where did you get that sweatshirt?”

He raised an eyebrow, “What do you mean?” Upon looking down, the fiery Italian found he was not, in fact, wearing one of his hoodies, but instead one Antonio had left a few months before (which explained the size). “Oh…” He laughed softly, under his breath, “It’s not mine.”

His brother smiled in understanding, before babbling about what they could make for lunch.

Later that day, Lovino sat on the leather couch his grandfather insisted on buying watching some reality show, hands in his pockets. When some woman began crying, he felt something, paper. Confused, the soon-to-be senior pulled the object out of where it was found. What surprised him was that on the paper was a receipt, but not of just anything. Of his and Antonio’s first date.

If he couldn’t have his Spaniard beside him, at least he got little reminders until the week ended.
