Dazai looked down at the fragile boy beneath him, pursing his bottom lip. He reached out his hand and gently cupped the side of his face, lightly stroking his thumb against the boy's pale cheek.
Desperate blue eyes stared up at Dazai. They were trying to tell him something but the brunet didn't care enough to decipher the message. He continued to stroke the boy's cheek, watching the vulnerable being with a pitiful expression. His cheeks and nose were decorated with a light pink hue, along with the top of his ears. His thin lips quivered faintly. His eyes were sorrowful, begging for mercy.
One side of Dazai's mouth slowly curled upwards, soon triggering a fully fledged smile. A stifled laugh escaped his lips and soon enough he stopped stroking the other party's cheek. "Man, is this really the Chuuya Nakahara? The strongest man the mafia has to offer? If I wanted to laugh, I would've booked tickets to see a stand-up comedian."
Chuuya didn't respond, his eyes looking away from dull, merciless ones before him.
"Awe don't look away from me. I was enjoying the view." Dazai pouted, he repositioned hand on Chuuya's face. It was no longer cupping his cheek, instead slender fingers and a thumb rested on the shorter one's jaw. Still being gentle, he guided Chuuya's head to face his own. "You know you can't escape."
Dazai was met with no reply.
"If you carry on like this, I'll leave you. You'll be stuck here forever, all alone and vulnerable like the weakling you are."
Dazai felt as Chuuya's mouth moved, theorising the boy had bitten his tongue.
"You're probably used to being alone though. Used to being left by everyone you've ever trusted. It happens all the time, doesn't it Chuuya?" Dazai tightened his grip on frail one's jaw. He made sure to look him in the eyes.
Sorrowful blue eyes became glossy. The petite frame quivering as his pink lips wobbled. The tip of his nose became rosier, followed with his cheeks and the tips of his ears.
Dazai scanned the being beneath him, silently judging him. "I mean I see why. Just look at you. All of this because of a few words? Pathetic."
The frail one’s gaze flitted to the dark oakwood floor, sinking his teeth into his trembling bottom lip. He wrapped slim arms around his lithe figure, holding himself tightly. The fingers on his jaw softened, but not enough that calloused fingertips weren’t denting his skin.
The brunet frowned, starting to stroke the ghastly skin of the boy’s cheek. He tilted Chuuya’s head towards him, looking at him pitifully.
“Why the long face?” Dazai raised an eyebrow. “You know I’m right. They always leave, you have no one.”
An involuntary whimper escaped the shorter one’s mouth, causing him to clutch himself tighter. His somber, cerulean eyes stayed fixed to the dark planks below as tears fell the corners. He trembled like a small child, his lips quivering heavily as he occasionally let out soft sad sniffles.
Dazai stopped stroking his cheek and just watched as the feeble boy cried in front of him. He didn't speak. He just let the sound of sniffles and infrequent whimpers fill the room.
After a short while, a yawn emerged from the taller one’s mouth. He examined Chuuya, his eyes moving from the boy’s black leather shoes up to his dismal face. He gazed at the woeful head in his grip, trying to feel an ounce of sympathy for the boy, but nothing came. He sighed disappointedly and flicked his view at the floor.
Losing interest in the powerless boy, Dazai released his hand from his jaw. He wiped it against the scratchy fabric of his trousers before resting it at his side. He shifted from his heels to his toes a few times before finally looking at the former.
He placed a dainty hand comfortingly on Chuuya’s shoulder before bending his knees to be level with him. “Look at me Chuuya.”
Dolorous eyes met with apathetic ones.
“Quit pitying yourself.”
The dainty hand was removed from the shoulder, being concealed in the brunet’s trouser pocket, along with his other hand. His knees straightened up and he turned away from the solemn boy. Without another word, he turned on his heel and didn’t do so much as cast Chuuya another glance before he started walking away.
Azure pupils became blurrier, tears now gushing down the shorter ones cheeks. His grasp around himself weakened as he stared hopelessly at Dazai. He lamely extended his arm towards the brunet and opened his mouth to talk. Instead of words, a choked sob slipped from his mouth.
Chuuya gripped himself, breaths shaky as his legs gave way under him, and he fell to his knees onto the dark oak wood, sure to leave marks and memories on his butterfly skin. There he was, left on the floor sobbing like a helpless child.
