Work Text:
Wilbur hasn't been doing that good with his family.
First, he has daily arguments with his father or twin brother(maybe both at sometimes). Those things are where he screams at them for leaving him and Tommy so much, for leaving him so much. All they ever reply is: 'We have to do it or else _______!' , or some shit like that. Cause, why can't they do it here? Or near where they live, so it won't take so damn long to come back.
Lastly, he barely even sees them anymore(his father and twin), because he doesn't join them in the things they do. He usually has to care for Tommy. But, sometimes he can't even do that himself, cause of stress and a load of other shit about his mental health, so he has to ask someone to do take care of Tommy for him. That person is Eret. He's amazing with kids, and Tommy is an exception for that. He really needs to do something for Eret back, the man's a real life-saver for Wilbur.
That's why. But, those are the problems, how about the people? His twin brother is Techno, they used to look the same, but Techno had dyed his hair pink so that people wouldn't be confused with them. His father is Phil. Both of them? Real assholes in Wilbur's point of view. Then there's his younger brother, Tommy. Wilbur loves him a lot, but there's always a sad twist to everything. One day, and Wilbur knows it'll happen, Tommy will be just like Techno and Phil. Maybe he'll be a bit better, but he'll be like them. Going out on meaningless adventures, avoiding everyone that isn't in your adventure. Maybe they're not that meaningless, but is it more important than your own fucking family?
Wilbur knows Tommy will be like them one day. He knows. And he's scared for when that day arrives, but he'll just be gone once Tommy has the time to start to not care about him, just like Phil and Techno. Because, if he goes to early, Tommy will be sad. But, if he goes later, he'll feel nothing. And Wilbur knows that, knows for sure.
But, he can't deal with all these thoughts right now. Thoughts about the future, the past, the present, the fucking everything. The future will hurt the most, and the past has already hurt him. The present is now, and now is ever going, it never stops, making no time to even get hurt. So, the future will hurt. It'll hurt the most, and Wilbur has to make sure he'll be ready for it. Or else.. he'll just be a broken brick left in the dirt, and this time for good. Tommy was there to pick him up and fix him, but once he's gone he'll be left sitting there in the dirt, the dust.
Ah. He's thinking those thoughts again.
Wilbur shakes his head as Phil holds Tommy in his arms, muttering something to him. Techno is beside Phil, shifting uncomfortably. Wilbur can't help but sigh. They're in the dining room right now, and Tommy had started crying all of a sudden. Wilbur's plate was empty, Techno's almost, and Phil's one looked as if he hadn't even started. Wilbur stood up from his chair and begun walking up to his bedroom, opening the door.
His window is open.. maybe his family wouldn't mind him going out for a bit? Well, they go out every single day(apart from Tommy), what would it matter if he went out once? Plus, like they're even gonna notice he's gone. Probably won't even open his door to see if he's okay.
Wilbur races himself to the window, looking down. Though he was on the top floor(second. Second floor), it wasn't too far down. Which was a good thing, he'll not break his back when going outside for heavens sake.
With a shaking sigh, Wilbur literally jumps down from his bedroom and onto the Earth's surface. It hurts, of course, but no bones break, and that's all the matters. He gets up from the ground and looks around for the first time. There's a forest near. He could go in there and just lose himself in his thoughts.
But, then again, what happens when he gets lost? He'll starve to death or kill himself first. Wilbur shrugs that off, going into the forest already. Who cares if he'll get lost? No one in his family would care, expect for.. maybe Tommy. But he's still young, and Phil can easily just make up a lie and Tommy would believe it. Maybe he'll found the truth in the future, but Tommy would have forgotten him already.
Wilbur's feet move without him, leading him into the forest. He goes deeper and deeper and deeper. The sounds of owls hooting and sticks snapping in two filling the silence of the night. The sticks snapping isn't even Wilbur's fault entirely, but he's sure he plays a part in it. The owl's hooting is far louder than the sticks however.
His feet keep moving, though, and he reaches a place with not too many trees. In the middle, a lake. Crystal clear, the moon reflecting itself on it. It was beautiful, but as Wilbur moved closer to the lake, the beauty was no match for the lady inside the lake, swimming.
The lady had nice red curls, short but cute, with a tint of white on the top of her head. She had a fish tail, it was pinkish-red. She had a lovely smile with her, full of pure happiness. She was, as Wilbur would say, perfect.
Wilbur caught himself staring and shook his head quickly before landing his eyes back at her, this time saying, "Hello?" The lady jumped at that and quickly turned to face Wilbur, staring at him with wide eyes. Her staring went on for a bit, before blinking a few times. "Hi. I didn't think anyone else came here, sorry." Wilbur put a reassuring smile at that and chuckled a bit, "Hey, don't worry, you're right. I just wanted to have a walk and stumbled into here, I can leave if you're uncomfortable." The lady's eyes widened and she shook her head, "No, you can stay. Who are you? You cam call me Sally." "I'm Wilbur, nice to meet you, Sally." The two talked for a bit, when a knife suddenly went through Wilbur's back.
"Um, sorry Sally, I need to go right now. My brother might be worried." Sally had a soft smile on her lips, "No worries! Can you come back though? I'd love to talk to you again." She laughed and Wilbur joined with her, "Yeah, I will, that's a promise, alright?" "Alright, Wilbur." She winked and Wilbur found himself laughing again.
"See you later Sally!"
He called out for her, as he was walking away. He waved his hand and Sally had waved hers. As he left, a smile was planted on his face and a memory that will be surely stored forever in his mind.
He'll meet her tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, and all of the days after that.
And, he did.
